This may have something to do with player retension. Sony gave up on dust and went with ps2 for marketing f2p. |

To retain players the game must evolve, right now its regressing. Devolving is not good. |

Django Quik wrote:Remember this - people will play a bad game if it is fun enough. Give people something awesome to be excited about, involve them in something bigger and give them fun stuff to do and they will gladly put up with poor core mechanics. This of course doesn't excuse the poor core but it would at least give people a reason to keep playing, knowing that the core will eventually get better and make the cool stuff even cooler. Without the cool stuff, you're just playing another fancy shooter, even if the core is perfect.
That's what Everquest thought until they lost everyone to newer MMOs that offered less poop with their gameplay. |

I bought a passive 7-day booster and thought "Cool. I'll earn extra SP for a week and unlock some skills sooner."
Little did I know that, at the end of that week, my SP would be docked by the amount of the extra SP I earned from the passive booster. Now I'm -64000 unallocated skill points and counting back up to zero. What the hell are they "selling" if you have to give it back when time's up? |

Well there is one activity, shoot people after a lobby session. Its not exactly an exciting window into new eden. Nor is it particularly ground breaking at the moment.
Yes i agree and this would apply more to the 'veteran player' demographic where for them, the game has become stagnant We vets have good resolve. 3 closed beta builds which lasted months, had only one map.

With all the negativity on this forum, im surprised any players retain playing.
There is no null low and high sec sectors for new players. So you meet 14 mill protoboy with your bpo starter fit. Understand that you CANT kill them, therefore your mcc hiding untill competitive. |

Pretty much sums it up there, the first impression is a BIG deal in gaming. CCP might want to start looking at new players soonGäó. |

Django Quik wrote:I think you're way off the mark with you're list here - those are just points that may not be particularly helpful in keeping players.
The thing that will keep players playing this game is a USP (unique selling point) - at the moment, there is none. When there is gameplay depth (more game modes, PVE, etc.) and a full and working connection to Eve, the USP will keep a lot of players new and old hooked.
USP? SoonGäó lool keep telling yourself that as you defend a games future. Lol
Seriously wake up fanbois, start putting blame on ccp and quit defending and trying to sell this games hopes and aspirations. Dust might actually go somewhere. |

Any type of lore would be great. We have been promised some storyline with FW and here we sit 7 weeks later and still no reason to play FW. Why did you say you would have lore coresponding with FW if you arent doing it? |

People stick around because they have some belief in the future of the game, or hope for it at least. The gameplay is very same-y at the moment. That would be true regardless of the polish on the shooting mechanics. For Dust players, Faction Warfare, Instant Skirmish, and PC are basically the exact same sorts of matches and playstyle - there's nothing to set them apart on our end aside from debt and a schedule to keep with PC.
I think part of peoples' frustration comes from the pace of progress (or lack thereof). The people that have been around for months.. or a year have invested "time", which can elicit more of an emotional response than if they'd just dropped $60 on it then walked. People want their faith and time spent to be justified.
I have told people about Dust, but I suggest they just collect passive SP till things are ironed out. It's a universe with potential, but until you see those MMO/EVE links that are meaningful (for Dust players, we don't live vicariously through EVE-FW), more modes than team deathmatch, and so on - it's hard to seriously recommend the game as something you should "Battlefield" or "Borderlands 2" or... whatever for.
I don't say this because I particularly love either of those games, but both have mostly solid core mechanics and some variety in gameplay. I don't feel bad about the time I've spent, but I'll be waiting for the game to have more to recommend it to generate word of mouth. In a sense, I guess those recruited but not playing people I've spoken to would seem to be "non-retained" players. |

I think a majority of players are unimpressed sofar. This game needs more wow moments to sell it.
As it is players are leaving faster than water through a siv. CCP needs more content. And core functions fixed. |
