People like that do not exist on console. And if they do, they are few and far between.
Dust is going to die, and i'll tell you exactly how.
The first major hit to dust will be GTA V. that game is expected to be the best game of this generation, Whether that's true or not, pretty much everyone who plays video games is going to buy it.
After that, if people still actually play dust, the ps4 will cut the population down even further. a lot of people are tired of the current console generation, and an upgrade is needed as far as some are concerned. I, for one, am trading in y ps3 the day it comes out.
What will be left over is a few hundred xiehard fans of CCP, probably less than the amount of current MAG players, and that will slowly start to wear down, until eventually the game joins SOCOM in the entertainment graveyard.
The sad thing about it is the next tine someone wants to do something similar to dust, their boss will just show them an article about how dust took eve down with it and say "is that what you want to happen to you?"
And don't even try to convince yourself that the whole "your actions matter" thing appeals to anyone that isn't already here or playing EVE. Besides, that hasn't even been properly implemented. I've fought at least a thousand instant battles, and not one of them has impacted eve in any way. And PC is worthless; people are actually TRYING to lose districts because its such a chore to maintain them.
eh this is wrong, last of us imo is likely the best game of this generation, it's multi-player is amazing to, and our pop is barely dented.
the ps4 WILL cause a loss of players, but imo it's only a matter of time before they port to the ps4, they can't honestly plan to have a 10 year plan on a dead system, they will either need to port to pc or port to ps4 one or the other is inevitable, I for one have no intention to sell my ps3 as ps4 is not backwards compatible and don't plan to throw my games away like a tool
I also don't plan to buy it right away, as every console first release is usually ridden with bugs and red ring of deaths, besides why buy a console the day it comes out and have no library to play it with, no used games to buy games cheaper, I personally don't prefer a shiny brick sitting in my living room.
the population will likely drop to about 3500-4000 once the ps4 hits, and that should keep the game stable while it is ported.
the rest of your argument is pointless once you acknowledge dust being ported to something else, either pc or ps4. |
