That would remove AFK playing & also ensure people play, because they don't want to be behind. I should be rewarded for playing well- all the time, not until I hit some arbitrary cap!
This passive SP crap is for other noob games, not Dust. Your Idea would only further seperate the Vets from the newbies |

why not just keep this system just remove the weekly sp cap for people who are not up to the same sp level as higher level players
higher level plays can keep pushing them selves ahead of the cap by the 1k wp sp cap
so more or less there is a always growing cap that goes up every week low level players will not hit the cap any time soon
high level players will continuously push against the cap |

Or how about we close the gap between vets and newbies by using ISK to essentially 'unlock' weapons. Because vets will buy expensive gear and lose lots of ISK, newbies buy cheap gear and die a lot and lose almost as much as one death a player with advanced/protogear has. |

When will you get it through your head that the only correct answer is to get rid of the Cap entirely. There is absolutely no point to the SP Cap other than monetary reasons.
Anyone who tells you that to allow for uncapped SP would result in nobody have to make choices and little to no speacialization because everyone would end up a generic supersoldier is functionally ********.
IT still would take 1-3 years with the current level of Content to reach that level at a pace of 40-75M SP/year/. IT takes 6 months to hits 15M with both active and passive running so you do that math on the reality of it happening right away.
Morever SO WHAT? Point of being a supersoldier is the ability to train and become a true mercenary skilled in the art of war and all the disciplines that it contains.
The steadfast desire to play this out like a MMO where players are trying to force everyone into a specialty and then add to this seek to make that specialty a long and tenous grind of greater than a year just to reach a single suit specialty are precisely the reason why new players and veteran alike are leaving.
Without new players to challenge the vets and give them competition they get bored and leave and with new players always being at arms length to someone that they have no control over no matter how much they play creates frustration and a loss of fun along with the desire to stick with it.
So yea get rid of the Cap already it serves no purpose other than shielding bad player behind a time advantage. Sure that maybe a staple of MMO but its not of Shooters and sorry in this regard the shooter community has to be looked to first on this. It doesnt break the game to be able to gain SP at a rapid rate because in the end you can only grow wider not taller.
This was the case in February and honestly CCP just needs to grow a pair and go ahead and get rid of it or continue to see their numbers dwindle. The people who were most willing to put up with this type of grind have already been playing this game because that type of player runs in tight social circles and have either tried Dust or knows someone who has.

Once the game has a lot of content and things to do, I would be strongly in favor of a completely passive system that can be further boosted through boosters, so as not to cut into those sales (though honestly I wish we would do away with boosters)
Until that happens, having some system similar to starcraft 2, that gives you additional SP for the time that you aren't playing (without adjusting your cap, and accounting for boosters) would be acceptable. This would dramatically help those players who can't play too often, while not really changing how diehards enjoy the game. |

The game is not about maxing your SP every week... as soon as that is all you care about it gets much more difficult to actually enjoy the game.
If you up the CAP too high it's then all about who can devote the most hours per day... as if people with no lives and no jobs represent the potential income stream that will keep the game alive over the long run.
My vote, let CCP do what they think is right for the game, it is their game, and if they kill it then it's on them and not us. |

Why all these weird Polls, they're of no use.
You are not forced to make a forum post quota. If you have nothing to discuss, then don't discuss instead of posting stuff about nothing. There are a lot of threads about SP system stuff already, read those and like the post you agree with.
This thread is redundant. |

lower active playtime amount - cap can stay the same or be adjusted too remove the continued 1k per game reward after cap - less reason for ppl to just afk all the time add in rollover - means newer players wont see the skill point cap for some time

They wanted to get rid of the cap in January, the community voted against it because they had a temper tantrum and didn't think everything through. All they could think of was losing their time advantage and acted as if the game would be harmed by no life grinder who would max out their characters and then would stop playing.
Well it takes well over 3 years currently to get there so that carrot would have gotten a lot more mileage than this current system has.

We already voted on one, Weekly Cap, Soft Cap after, With a Rollover, All new players will not go into weekly cap until they get caught up to Max Cap.
Rollover will be implemented, in like 75 years. (Some major update down the road, as it isn't easy)

Colonel Killar wrote:I have a Question. How do newer EVE players compenstate for having less SP?
it takes less time to level up to a competitive level. Also the world is gated. Low sec high sec and null sec.
Like in WoW you stay in low level areas and fight other low level players.
Also EvE is 99% PvE and gathering/building. And it has a crop ton of PvE elements for people to play. You kill and die in dust more times in a week then an many years playing EvE pilot ever will in PvP......In fact most EvE players die from PvE then they ever do from PvP.

TheAmazing FlyingPig wrote:Colonel Killar wrote:I have a Question. How do newer EVE players compenstate for having less SP? They specialize into one role. Within the first week of playing you can have a pretty good PvP frigate running through lowsec. I remember there being a training plan for a 1-week PvP Rifter somewhere. They also make friends.
Or they stick around in high sec and do PVE stuff until they either decide they have the "basic" skills needed to enter pvp or they become miners/industrialists and never leave high sec.
However, making friends is a good idea especially if you want to pvp in the meta game. |

I have 16 million SP, the best guns, the best equipment, modules etc,
And this lolgame is still an unbearably dull tedious grind fest.
Imagine the poor noob with half a million and no ISK and no idea what he's doing.
I have always said SP cap for an FPS is dumb. This is not EVE, and anyone who still thinks this is a good idea, quite frankly is dumber than a dumb thing in dumbland. |

I'd say passive like EVE, but get some SP from played matches as well as a "hey thanks for actually playing the game!" token of gratitude SP.
Personally when it came to EVE I would log in, train my skill books, log off....few months later - hello my shiny new Curse :D |

If there was no SP cap, then yes I would probably be on 50 million SP at least.
So what, at least a noob could if he wanted to, could play and catch me up and be on level terms.
How the hell is he supposed to do that as it is. He cannot. I will always have more.
