We could set it up where you could either buy the augmentations (if you have the money, which would be outrageously expensive) or you could just personally/hands on work a Capsuleer clone to achive near the same effect. One could be a humanist or augmentationist purist. I say near the same effect because I think that augmentations would need to be better but very expensive. But it dies and it is gone. I want a hardcore character damn it, so I can be really upset when it dies. Like someone just shot my puppy.
This idea has a bit more merit, if you changed some things around.
Lore wise, our bodies are already at peak physical condition. They literally manufacture these clone bodies to be better than normal people. A clone mercenary, naked, could stand toe to toe physically with the most fit people out in the universe.
Augmentation wise, we are already pumped full of nanites, that allow us to be better than even our natural bodies would allow, kill pain, and allow us to survive things that would quite literally break a mortal shell.
Generally though our clones are conditioned to be all around good, and we can already pump ourselves full of drugs to kill our lifespan to hours but make us run a bit faster. (those stamina modules for example.)
The thing you might want to suggest is a clone body that is already pre-rigged with a shield energizer, replacing useless long term organs like the stomach and guts with a small reactor, or replacing that useless layer of skin with a synth-weaved hardened layer of armor. These augmentations would be catastrophic to the body, crippling it's ability to do other things, such as running or mobility, and would relegate it's life span to a couple of hours, at best... but you could easily pay for such clone bodies to be placed into your dropsuit to augment it even further, for a price per clone.
Alot of this would have to wait until there is a market for suicidal implants, for some reason the squishy mortals never wanted to invest into things that would kill the user in a matter of hours or minutes.
