I doubt there are many game devs that are still patching and improving their games 10 years after release. Yes, Dust has lots of flaws but I hope that CCP will eventually get rid of them. It's just a matter of being patient. I'm not interested in the likes of CoD who release a "new" game every year and charge people $60 for a couple of minor differences. I would rather put some money into a work in progress type of game like Dust, and yes I have spent money in Dust to buy the special packs like the Merc Pack and so on.
I hope CCP aren't posting on the forums because they are too busy trying to fix the game. I could be wrong of course . . . I was in EVE on release day and indeed it was pretty rough around the edges. However, there is a big difference between the first days of EVE and Dust. In EVE we had meaningful PvP and PvE, basic missions, a reasonable complement of different ships and weapons, and an entire universe to go off and claim.. We can't go anywhere in Dust except the handful of maps they've given us, we can't do PvE content, we can't explore to our hearts content and lay claim to that empty backend system.. Only the same few maps, using the same few suits and weapons, endlessly :(
CCP has always been in it for the long haul and the numbers in dust is still higher than we had in EvE at the start, however its much smaller, i loved those first few months down in 0.0 braving it out against the rats and looking out for players in those rare occasions we would come across someone
the normal gameplay is not great but no matter how much time they put into it atm its not going to compare to a real AAA fps game (bf4 trailer anyone?)
We are now losing numbers connection issues dont help with this, few times the sever has gone down i have moved to another game,
I think its about time CCP Harden up and say they know there is a problem with the game XX is how they intend to fix it tbh if FoxFour was not involved as much as he is i would have left by now, they have put up about PC not being great but we need more than that the weekly promotions forums post i had forgotten about them till recently
Most people who are still playing (not AFKing) are still here as they want to see the game succeed, use us more, ask for more feedback on areas, get us voting etc
E3 is going to get people to come here and try the game we need to hold them for the 2 weeks then we need to keep them with the promise of things to come, that's what we are missing now, PC going the way it went it needs to be fixed and increased size massively |

Harsh but true
we need some depth and that should come from PC and PVE we cant have the market yet and its gonna be a long time before we can handle the market so much has to change first
i would just like to see more info from the devs on what they are doing, what are they working on, what's their concerns etc There will always be complaining on the forums but guide us in the right direction we might be helpful and provide ideas
again well done to FoxFour for making the thread about PC, it has renewed alittle faith we just need to see something coming from it now, there is enough posts to start refining the idea down |

as someone said further up i too stuck with Brink till its bitter end, when i could not find a server with people playing anymore However i really enjoyed Brinks gameplay, i put it well above where dust is currently, yet Brink failed hard, very hard lol
Dust wont go the same way, i dont see this thread as another doom dust has failed thread, this is a how can we get dust where it needs to be to get people to stay and play
for me the biggest jump they have made in months is the academy, it holds players till they leave the academy
I know i wont be popular in saying this but Dust has not headed in the direction i first expected from it
I expected districts to continue to be owned by EvE pilots i thought the idea was for EvE pilots who fell out with their districts neighbours to hire Merc's to fight for them, these would take many battles to take a district, for example
10 battles for a district to change hands (districts would also have sovereignty control) EvE pilots would agree a payment term with Merc's to fight for their districts, isk items etc
Merc's would have a rep system (like EvE standings) which lets them get paid more for other game types (empire pub games and pve)
We are called Merc's nowhere during my first thoughts about an EvE Fps with Merc's did i think we would own districts or even make the kind of isk we are making, always thought the real money was going to come from Mercing for EvE corps and pilots and that EvE corps would want a dust side
Sure i was way off what we have now is an FPS with MMO features which happens to be in New Eden, every update seems to push the game more as an fps, most threads complaining about its FPS features, when the new gen FPS games hit we need a very solid MMO on here to keep the players and not some forced you must login every day / week to fake the numbers up (can see this is coming shortly)
Said it a few times now but i really want to see CCP step up and say we know its not quite right gives us ideas and let the community work on improving its MMO feature set |
