Is it theoretically possible to put EVE on the PS4?
Take into account: -Graphics -Player Base -Gameplay Mechanics -Control scheme (Duelshock 3 Compatable) and whatever else. |

I was just watching a planetside 2 video, thinking "Wow thats gonna be on ps4" and then I thought about EVE and how its technically 10 years old. |

EVE is not a console game, all putting EVE on a console would do is alienate the potential new players of DUST, which is bad, Planetside 2 isn't as great as it looks, it's a total pay to win, glitchy, shitshow, the original was better. |

What CCP could do is create a demo of sorts. just to get the ps3/4 playerbase to see what EVE is like. then at the end of said demo, it tells you "If you want more of this, and better of this, go play EVE on the PC." It could breath new life into a slowly dying game. I believe that is what they are doing with PS2 on ps4. |

Even if it is not like full EVE, maybe a tutorial, maybe it shows you how to train skills, and takes you through a small battle with rats. and then makes you scan down a few sites. It could generate at least 1000 new players for it. |

+1 but it should be still available for "old" formats (PC, Mac)
If EVE made to PS4 it should be integrated with DUST client. Ultimate goal is E-VR (spaceship dogfights for now only) type encompassing EVE side and DUST side type of gameplay. One client to rule them all and multiplatform |

i was thinking this. Like an expansion to dust. Maybe being only able to gather minerals (mining) and create dust items (weapons, suits, modules) It doesn't have to be an EVE copy, just something to show the console players what EVE is. |

This could also offer the ability to link dust accounts with EVE accounts.
Start up Dust on PS4, have 2 tabs, one for Dust, and one for EVE.
Say a corp is doing PC. It is down a few players on the dust side and no corp members to replace them.
Lets say the same corp has 10+ members on EVE side doing nothing but waiting to see the results of the PC. Well, if EVE gets a Dust expansion, those EVE players could relog into the dust expansion on PC and join the battle on the ground.
Lets say the same corp is doing another PC battle in which they have 20+ members on Dust, and <2 on EVE. now those Dust players can log into the EVE side to give Defense to those ships providing OB support to keep them alive. |

If Diablo 3 can go on a console, I see no reason why EVE couldn't.
However, it really, really should not. The menu drop downs, while reduced in the last update, still would be absolute HELL on a console. CCP has no reason because I highly doubt putting EVE on a console would lead to more people playing EVE. Would be like putting World of Warcraft on a Game and Gear expecting more subscriptions. |

You won't see EVE on any console unless CCP overhauls the entire interface, and that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. The sheer amount of clicking and spreadsheet gazing prevents a controller from being the optimal tool to interact. It could work, I suppose, as long as there was kb/m support. |

Eve is far too complex for consoles - the controls and interfaces would never work without a keyboard and mouse.
As for the comment about potentially generating 1000 new players - why would a game with a playerbase of 500,000 put in so much effort to gain an extra 0.2%? |

I said At Least. it may generate a whole 10,000 for all we know. Im just saying this is a way to add more to the current EVE playerbase. Dust can only go so far on its own, the people who play it and don't have the money for a pc to play EVE, are going to sit there and wonder "What is EVE like? It sounds awesome, spaceship battles in space, wish I could play that" Ofcourse, there will be people who think the opposite and don't want anything to do with it, oh well, they don't have to play it. But for the lower class person who can maybe save up for 3 years after inittial ps4 release to get one, will never know how good a game like EVE is. |

I would like it, but it would have to be 15$ dollars a month like it is on PC otherwise it wouldn't really be fair. I mean come on guys, why would it be bad? You don't HAVE to play it, AND it would open up the opportunity to those who want to play it but don't want to play it on PC. ITs win win for everyone, and aside from people being like "nasdofjdlsfjk im a fanboy of one party or another and don't want it on the console because it should be on PC rawr"....... |

I'm not saying it's bad but if they do thatthen guess what? There will be less staff on dust 514. Less staff = less bug fixes and content.
Also they are already working on 4 different projects (Dust, EVE, World of Darkness, EVR)
They should stick with fixing the games they need to before thinking of porting anything. |

Yes. The PS4 is basically a mid to high end PC....plenty of power to run EvE.
Also it has 2 USB ports so no reason why it could not support keyboard and mouse.
Furthermore Dust has proven that there is a big enough player base of EvE playing D-bags who own a PS3 for it to work on the PS4. |

You will never see EVE on a console.
It would be like trying to play a console wearing oven mitts.
The complexity of EVE's controls, dozens of hotkeys, drag and drop functionality, dropdown menu's on everything, windows, tabs... do i really need to go on? The thought of doing that with a DS3 is horrifying.
I mean after a decade of development we have EVE as we know it today, and to be frank some parts of it are hard to control with a mouse and keyboard. Let alone with a controller. DUST has to deal with the smallest of subsets of what EVE has, and its a struggle to use most of the time.
Now an eventual console version of their EVR prototype... that could have some potential.

Let's address some of the highlight points:
1) You would have to require Keyboard / Mouse. EVE has a lot of things that just wouldn't work on a controller.
2) You normally use external communication tools. Very VERY few people use EVE's in game voice. For most corps Mumble / Teamspeak / Ventrillo is nearly mandatory for most Fleets.
3) It would have a subscription fee. This, while per the norm on PC MMOs, is rather unusual for a console, and will likely drive away players.
4) All PC based, and independent update schedule. CCP isn't about to let anybody mandate when updates can be made to EVE, and if they did the player base would be -very- unhappy with it. It's not a move that would be wise, so they would have to ensure that Sony would let them push updates whenever they feel like.
5) What's the market for this? People who own PS4's but not a computer? It's an MMO so it's not like it's a question of internet. You can't play it either way if you don't have a stable connection.
6) Not a straightforward port. They just can't release it on a whim. They'll have to work for many months (if not nearly a year) to get the port workable, and even then it's a whole other version they would have to keep up to date and make sure no breaks are happening with.
7) Unhappy player base. If the current PC based player base knew that CCP was wasting development time / money on a port to a console of EVE that would likely not draw in many new players they would likely make a big deal and protest the motion quite strongly. That could do much more damage than just about any benefit could obtain. |

Also, just because you think I am stupid, does not reflect on what a CCP member would think. |
