I am sorry but developers don't want to give you features that are half done.
They also cannot update every day as desired so things have to be deployed a chunk at a time due to sony requirements. This is one requirement they cannot circumvent and also they cannot alleviate even if they go to another platform as PS4 likely still requires it, and as long as dust 514 is on a console platform going to pc is not going to fix this issue either because you cannot have two separate clients with features on one missing on the other.
There is also internal testing that has to happen, things get real screwy if you deploy them without seeing what they do to the field. |

CCP will do it if/when they feel like it.
They could just take you money and end the Dust 514 service and take it to PC. Hah! If Dust 514 moved to PC, it really would die. Hackers would have a field day just like any other F2P game before it. I think punk buster still exsists?
Doesn't work its been defeated quite often. |

75% of that road map was trashed in favor for MLG design. |

Well I am not trying to sell myself a completed game of next decade; today.
The studio itself is self developing and learning its own lessons while still managing to deliver new aspects of the game to you guys as early as feasibly possible. Sometimes the early as possible gets in the way again in the future when they have to redesign it. The studio will get better at content delivery, content generation, and feature planning. This is not a well versed studio making this game and they're experiencing just as much growing pains as the game itself is. This is not Dice or Zipper or SOE the maker of dozens of games, this is a studio that has only 2 games made in the past one of which is a board game. This specific studio is a whole mash bag of different developers from different backgrounds and the game on current engine is not that very old overall. Yes Dust 514 has been in the works for for years but most of it has been theory testing and crafting. Things like 'can we really shoot a planet from eve and it translates into another game?'
CCP is trying to not create a massive 'technical' debt with current ingame features. There is already a massive 'development wishlist debt' still unpaid off and there is no need to increase that much further than necessary.
There are quite a few features that unfortunately throwing more developers at is not going to get them done quicker either, for example you only need one guy to manage the balancing, having 3 guys in charge results in far worse balance table as they all go different directions. There are also features they do need more devs in but only have so many experienced in that area that they cannot do everything at once. For example the guy in charge of Factional Warfare, is also in charge of planetary conquest, is also in charge of player to player interactivity. He has to manage his projects carefully in a manner that works best with all the other teams he works with and he does a crap ton of theory crafting on his end on how players would play out in the board game. He's a nice guy to talk to nonetheless as long as you don't steal his shoes.
Unfortunately Soon(tm) is the only answer any developer can give you when the feature they're working on is not yet done or tested yet.
While I have a very good idea what the game is going to look like 10 years from now, I cannot tell you which of those features you are going to to get in what order.
And those I see coming up in the next few months I am not allowed to tell you guys anything about those until a dev spills the beans. There should be a new dev blog and podcast on the horizon though involving 1.2 Uprising. |

Correct, because of the NDA there are things the CPM has seen but cannot share yet.
There are some things though that we the CPM are expressing with CCP about things that are easy 'wins' with information that should reach you guys in various forms such as dev blogs and the sorts. One Dev blog is coming really soon featuring some neat things in 1.2. While CCP is still building up the studio the CPM is trying to help involve CCP into communications more when its reasonable, feasible, healthy, and most importantly useful.
Telling us about destroyer HAVs and Bomber Dropships don't really help you guys that much. Getting them to tell you about the design goals behind the new plates, and the stats associated with them and asking for early feedback is much better use of CCP's communication routes. But thats the difference between marketing, directors, and developers.
Because I have had plenty of chances to talk to CCP I can understand why some processes are taking longer than you guys are expecting. For example did you know they had to REDO every map for Uprising? Even though the maps themselves did not change they had to redo the terrain because the older maps were not future proofed and had to be rebuilt for the newer tech in its uses.
There also been things on the road map CCP has put together that had to be scrapped because the realization of the tech is not feasible. Some things are on wishlist because they is no clear plan on reaching those goals and the things that are on the roadmap have prerequisites to be built beforehand.
Dust 514 was once upon a time on a roadmap itself, Eve Online Planetary Action Phase 3. That was listed 10 years ago.
Phase 1 Flying over planets (scrapped) Phase 2 Building Colonies (Currently Planetary Interaction) Phase 3 Ground level combat (Work in progresses)
So in technicality Dust 514 development is about 11 years old just the tech for its possibility has been built backbone wise and its slowly growing into its own. |
