I get some of this same non-comprehension from management at work. I'm in the computing field and people think creating something new and complex is like filling in boxes in a spreadsheet.
Sorry, creativity takes time. Inspiration as to strike. You try out the idea. Maybe it works. Maybe it doesn't. It's not like you can draw a straight line on a calendar and simply declare when new capabilities will be done and worthy of release.
Some of you need to grow up and develop some patience. The world moves at the pace it does... no matter how fast you want it to go. |

If ccp wants to be artists wait for inspiration to strike then they have no business realising this game.
For a business to stay in business they most definetly have to work on a timeline. I want this game to succeed the truth is its loosing die hard players that have been here since the beginning. I was buying a merc back every few weeks, now I don't care
Look at major corps walking away from PC , look at the forums people are highly dissapointed with the non existent timeline and failed promises and patronizing. SOON BS.
Custom software development is not simply an exercise of spending time at the keyboard. No amount of whining and complaining will accomplish anything -- except make sure that CCP never bothers to provide us with estimates. |

The Attorney General wrote:Crash monster, if CCP doesn't start releasing estimates, the community will leave. If CCP wants us to putting money back in their pockets, they need to produce more. I know I won't give CCP anything until they shape up. I am not alone in that. Many of the people who regularly purchased aurum have ceased since Uprising stand up the place.
If CCP chooses to keep us in the dark, the can enjoy reduced revenues because of it.
I don't think it matters what CCP does. Even if they ask us what we want, as they do, they get a 50-50 split that has half the community blaming the other for the ills of the world and then threatening to walk.
Trust me, if CCP could deliver every desired feature and fix every flaw tomorrow, I'm sure they would.
CCP knows, I assume as I'm not privy to any inside details, what they want to build. They have put some quantity of developers into the mix, and they are working on things.
They had our help testing it but they don't owe us anything. We didn't end up part owners though there is obviously a lot of emotional investment from some folks who must have found out they aren't all that special -- they are just players like everyone else -- now that the game is no longer in beta.
I don't care if you do or don't spend money on things. Nobody is twisting your arm or forcing you to do so. Again, nobody owes us anything... we are free to play, or not, just as we are free to pay, or not. Perhaps people can just make their choice without all the threats and whining?
I won't hold my breath. |

cedz636 wrote:We have been more than patient...the problem lies with the lack of communication. The vague, non-factual reply from CPM is proof of this. Patience only goes so far and can be tolerated so much when, as a fan base, we are left out of the loop (what little fan base Dust 514 has already without issues like this turning more and more players away every day). Me? I'll remain patient...Dust 514 is a good game, and it has the potential of being a great game, but I somehow feel I'm patiently awaiting the release of PS2 and Destiny on PS4 rather than the devs to pull this game up to even par. I speak for a lot of people when I say we're still gonna play, and wait, and play, and wait some more, but If CCP doesn't get with the program, I'm gone when the PS4 drops those titles. I mean come on...how hard is it to give us a roadmap of where Dust is going? It leads me to believe there isn't one, and the half-a$$ replies by CPMs and DEVs all over this forum support this theory.
I don't think the CPM is meant for information to travel from CCP to us... it's more to help get information from us to CCP. For some reason they seem to catch hell for a lot that really has nothing to do with them.
There are all kinds of known destinations on the roadmap... such as a player market, full racial suits, more weapons, some type of PVE, bigger maps with more concurrent players, and so on. The time frame... I've never seen one.
As I said on another thread... I still have fun. If that stops I'll take a break. It's that simple. |

VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET!!!!!
I don't know... since I am in the software industry I think I have more validity than a group of whiny teens who feel entitled to something and whine constantly about it.
More seriously, you really think you can argue with the "if you don't have fun take a break" concept? |

So far I see a fancy interface. I also see something that is not new... in that they are building on their own prior work. Feel free to grab a chunk of my text but miss the point. |

crazy space 1 wrote:You are trying to argue that because they didn't do every single feature they allowed for community feedback on, they shouldn't of told the community their plans AT ALL. When the whole dust cmmunity is raging to get told whats ging on, even if features get canned or delays. Becuase we want to see whats happening, and we want to give some *****ING FEEDBACK before they shove it into the game without testing it.
Maybe the dust community needs to realize that they aren't on the inside any more. They are not beta testers and they aren't going to have the same relationship with CCP that they used to.
I don't intend any insult... but things have moved past that stage now (whether or not you or I think it should have). This is CCP's baby, not ours, let go of it.

LOL, have you guys listened to yourselves.
You think CCP has to touch base with you on everything? Sure, it would be nice, but they don't have to do jack ****. I don't care if CCP ever tells me they are releasing patches or not.
The game will change. I'll adapt. If I get pissed I'll leave instead of throwing ***** all about the forum like a primate.
When you get to the point that you think YOUR comments and advice are the only thing that can save CCP you are very ****ing deluded.
Me, I know I'm nobody. I'm playing the game because the current issues don't stop me from having fun. Well, when the server is up anyway.
Yes, I'm also aware of all the "customer is always right" and "listen to the customer" baloney. This is CCP. I expect they'll tough it out while you cryhards empty your bowels here daily... put out new content and fix glitches and things over time... and many of us will be happy to play even if the game doesn't get your certificate of approval.
Hey, I just figured why some of the cryhards don't leave... their egos are so inflated they can't get out the door. |

I've said it a million times... but if and when I stop having fun I'll stop playing. Short of that, this is a free to play game... so they owe me absolutely nothing.
Strangely, that makes it hard for me to be upset about what they do.
Try it... if you let go of your expectations it's a lot harder to be butthurt by reality when it arrives. |

Michael Cratar wrote:Legitimate question to you.
How do you make this game fun? Iv plated since closed beta and i was never able to get into the "I cant wait to play this game at the end of the day" cycle.
I still stalk the forums from time to time to see whats going on. As I said befor, what makes this game fun for you?
Id like to know so I could try it too.
Honest answer. I don't have a lot of things I can pull out of a hat. There is the usual host of things that people want... improved game play mechanics, content, maps, etc.
However, two things that probably won't sound like much that I can also suggest:
- When fixing balance issues figure out ways to do so that don't introduce a big painful negative. People feel negatives, losses, twice as acutely as a a gain. An example I can explain is the "quick scope" problem for sniper rifles. Now, every time you scope the rifle fights you by turning in some random pattern until it quiets down. It's silly. Why not just go for the future high tech solution and suggest the range/power combo requires warm-up and that before warm up there will be a dispersion effect that settles down as the rifle warms. Hey, no fighting the rifle, no need to lose your aim all the time, and no need to worry about "quick scope" problems. Is that more fun... not sure, but it represents a fix philosophy that might end up with better game feel over time -- as adding fun impacting concepts to achieve balance is a process that can go a long way.
- I don't play the game for SP or ISK. I play a battle at a time and try to do the best I can each battle. While I still manage to cap out most weeks -- I am having fun. The people that complain about not having fun often seem to be the ones that talk about grinding, falling behind, losing something if they don't cap out, all that kind of thing. You don't have to end up with as much SP as another to max out a role and be effective. You can enjoy the journey and not just the destination. Maybe a bit metaphysical but just simply allow yourself to enjoy the things that do work and not let the problems hide those things.
I see the problems, I'm impacted by the problems, I hope they fix the problems, but I'm still able to have fun. |
