Everyone has proto gear now since the respec, fact. New players are going to have a hard time, fact. The problem is that half the people running proto all the time have the skills and skill points to back it up, the other half, well they don't. I just hit 10 mil skill points and finally have a good proto setup that I can do really well with. I'm putting it away for pc battles. I have made nice fits of standard and advanced gear that I have a blast with. I've seen many top tier players doing the same. I went 28/15 last night with standard caldari lvl1 assault with all bpo modules. And that was against some really good players, Djinn marauder and kujo included, neither of whom were running proto either. We had some awesome gunfights! Anyone can run what they want when they want, but it is very satisfying to take out someone running proto suit with tac ar and no proto modules to back it up with a militia ar or toxin bpo gun. If we had a game mode without proto gear this would do the game good. If a lot of players go back to simpler fits and rely on "true skills" not top gear alot of people would have a lot more fun. I'm having a blast and saving my top gear for when it really matters, see you on the battle field. |

The new match making* will be gear base so I might as well just not use my skillpoints and play with basic gear. At least it will be cheaper.
About the * I don't know if you type that separately. |

About the * I don't know if you type that separately. Yeah man i'm looking forward to it. I really do enjoy running cheaper fits and having actual 1v1 gunfights that last for awhile, ducking behind cover and trying to outsmart another maybe better player. |

I made an ADV fit the other night using a GEK. Suit price went from 156k down to 46k. It's a lot more fun playing with a cheaper suit, especially when you get orbitals dropped specifically on you in games... Which seems to happen to me 2-3 times a night in pubs.
Less stress knowing you aren't losing money almost every match, and my performance hasn't changed much at all. Yeah the proto suit is better but you can still wreck with an adv suit no problem.
This game is skill > gear in a lot of ways, its just hard to see that cause the ones with skill are the ones with the gear too. |

What I don't understand.... Is the pub stompers running full proto gear... Like why? I can't comprehend. I guess it's more of a, gotta maintain my KDR then anything. All you protobear out there, tell me why you run proto gear with a squad full of your corp mates/other protobears? After each match, do you all jerk off at the scoreboard screen and comparing your scores in the process while me and other noobs are raging |

I love how everybody is just so amazing on the forums. You would think that everyone who plays is MLG.
I don't wear proto gear to win my gun fights.... I do it so you scrubs can actually win a game. |

Using squad tactics and skillz instead of running a proto around is allot of fun. I had a blast in the academy running starter fits with a diff toon. I think if the blues had good comms techniques (and a mic) they would be having more fun and less qqing. |

I take out my proto fits when I'm bored or when the match is actually a good one (neck and neck), but generally I use my BPO fits or my Advanced fits, though I've got other stuff sprinkled in between. |

I use full proto gear all the time as I am a sniper.
Since the respec, every man and his Dust dog have specced into shield tanking and Assault / Logi.
As a consequence, a sniper needs the proto setup for the cpu/pg required to run 3 complex damage modules, a decent rifle, nano hives and low power modules of your choice.
I run 3x complex damage modules, a charge sniper rifle and SR proficiency lv. 5, and anyone in proto gear requires 2 hits to drop.
I dread to imagine what sniping in militia gear would be like. |

Sniper is a completely different animal. To those who do it and do it well in this game congrats. It is not easy. I'm talking about good ole gun fights without all the bs I have this or I have that, mediocre fits that work and cost other people thier ego stroking proto fits in pub matches. I could run my pc fit and go 18/0 18/2 and be bored out of my mind and say OHH!! look at me I'm on top of the leaderboard again, I'm great! Or I can run a mid grade fit and have some real fun and use some real game skill in a fair fight in pubs. Again this is for the people who want a good game not the ones who have everything and don't know how to use it. |

My best fit is my Advanced Heavy Frame with two basic damage mods, two enhanced armor reps, M209 Assault SMG, Packed AV Grenades, and a Kaalakiota Forge Gun.
What I usually use...
Skinweave heavy BPO, one militia damage mod, one militia armor repair, militia SMG, militia locus grenades, and a militia Forge Gun.
Both are fun to use, I just stress less when I loose the Skinweave/Militia fit and have more fun. |

Protos are expensive for both newbies and veterans. That is why I save them for PC battles where I can earn 1.4 million per match on average. |

Getting to full proto build is a nice achievement. If feels like once you get there you never need to go back. However I agree ive been starting to use toxin gun and dragonfly suit to keep costs way down.
It is very rewarding taking out protos with millitia or toxin stuff :) |

dragonfly/dren scout
1 CLDM
dren shotgun
toxin smg
r9 uplink
basic KC
it's even more fun to run it with no modules at all!
your K/D may suffer
Its nice to blast proto heavy's in face with a dren. 3 times |

I've seen squads/teams sacrifice a win just to pad their K/D ratios. Pretty sad really. I'd rather win. |

This, Always go for the win, **** the KD ratio, only time winning takes the backseat is if I'm padding my wallet with a sniper fit. |
