To be very clear: I don't want any details. Not one piece of hard information about the new build that the devs have been hinting is in Sony's QA process prior to release. I would further ask the community to refrain from asking any such questions in this thread, since we know that the CPM cannot answer them.
What I'd like is an emotional, qualitative reaction to the changes in the new build. Is it epic? Is it good? Is it a small step in the right direction? Is it nothing to hold our breath over? Is it 'get your nerdrage ready guys'?
What do you, as individuals, think of what's coming, without any spoilers whatsoever?

To be honest I have no idea. My biggest feedback to CCP on the patch notes so far during our internal review has been "You've GOT to include more detail than this" Numbers numbers numbers, stats stats stats, every single change documented thoroughly and transparently. Link to dev blogs if they must, or even better links to a stickied forum thread posted by the dev working on the change with more information where they can monitor feedback in one place. But one way or another, patch notes need to be more specific than they have been in the past.
Many items like "Increased performance of ________" are also vague and impossible to evaluate without hands-on testing. Uprising felt like a game-changer when we played it at Fanfest, but not once we installed it on our PS3's at home. Reading patch notes is much the same. There are a several items in there that have the potential to turn the combat meta on its ear (including one piece of gear) and change the way we play, but these could always break things as much as it might improve them.
We also have no idea whether the patch notes we were shown are missing anything else or whether there are items that the devs are TRYING to get finished but might not make it (or might not pass QA).
It looks on paper to be a fairly typical build update. Not as many "major facelift" elements as Uprising (this is Uprising 1.2 that's coming, not a new expansion completely) but some new gear, a good number of bug fixes, performance tweaks, etc. Nothing I would say "No" to, of course - These are all needed adjustments, but obviously its still skimming off a bottomless pool of things to fix.
Sorry for the indifference / lack of enthusiam, I'd love to be able to stand up and scream "THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME" with a megaphone but that's not what the CPM is here for and I've learned my lesson already about giving a build praise only to be disappointed with its manifestation once I've played it at home.

Don't be. That's exactly the kind of feedback I want. If members of the CPM are cautiously optimistic, in a mild and not overly excited way, then that's the range I'll set my own emotional barometer. |

I just want some iteration on the corp mail and other corp management stuff. I'd rather than CCP spend time doing the fixes before adding more stuff that needs fixing later. |

This is a very tough question to ask us dude. We may have more information about what's coming but the fact is that we didnt get to try them. So something that might sound good may end up being not that good. Pretty much like Hans said in his previous post.
Also we're torn between expressing ourselves and managing expectations. Say we go "yeah it's great" and you get your hopes very very up just to be disappointed. WOuld be cruel.
So, wont play that game. But imo, any patch done to Dust is, one way or another, a step in the right direction. Even the patch that were obviously NOT good as they always allow devs to learn stuff in the process.
Wait and see. |

It wasn't meant to be an easy question, but I wasn't aware that you hadn't been able to play-test. I appreciate the response. |

If CCP is releasing the patch notes to you guys, wouldn't it mean that the patch ALREADY passed Sony QA though? |

Well. I don't want to repeat the preview of uprising and what actually happened on deployment day. Time will tell this time around and most of the changes are well... wait and see sort of thing, because without anything to bounce quarters off of there is no real way to measure what these changes will bring. I would like to remind you that 1.2 is a minor update patch. |

(Apologies for delayed response)
My impression is basically :
"It's what I'd expect from a minor follow-up update to a large release"
There's some fixes, some content that didn't make it in with the main uprising release, some stuff that was tweaked/added as a result of uprising.
Some stuff (Like ISK transfers) will be awesome.
Others, I'm wary that while they're good steps, if not done right they'll essentially just change WHY players hate certain things, but conversely, if done right players will love the **** out of the changes to that stuff.
Overall, I'm not too concerned with 1.2, or even 1.3. Like Said above... It's a minor patch even if it has a few really nice things that didn't make it into uprising. My concern is with the release that comes after 1.3. That is the unknown, and while they've told us what they WANT to do with it... what they actually do is still up in the air. The part that gives me hope is that during the meeting where they gave us the roadmap, I brought up the point "CCP has been saying for like a year, stuff like: 'We'll do x in a future update.', 'Things will be better soon as we get Y done" and so on... I hope that CCP delivers and the major issues are iterated on, That the next major release lives up to those promises."
The response from the main guy in charge was a heartfelt and sincere "It NEEDS to." So... I remain my stance of cautious optimism. |
