Only talking about the ones inside of the main bases and under the MCC.
They are useless and do nothing but promote camping for the entire game.
Blasters: These are the only ones that should be in the bases. These turrets are for defense, not to dominate the entire map.
Railguns: Have unlimited range, kill my gunlogi in 3 hits and I can't get away. They kill any dropship in two hits no matter what modules they have fitted. They also have the stupidest positions on the map. They get the best spots where just the tip of the turret is exposed, and can fire down across the map.
Missiles: Without someone in them they can hit you 2,000+ Meters away no problem, the damage they do to dropships isn't good, but take a few missiles and you'll find yourself upside down plummeting to the ground, also annoying having to dodge them the entire game because you can't get in the redzone to take them out.
A.I.: Is absolutely insane, they are a better shot than I am when I'm sniping. The terrible hit detection never affects them, you think you can aim? Watch a missile installation hit you from your redzone from theirs flying full speed with a kinetic booster on.
Player: A good player in one of these can take out anything that threatens him or his team in a heartbeat if he can aim well enough.
Placement: Kind of went over this but they have the dumbest placement. It's like the DEV's said "Let's make it so that nobody can hit the turrets, let's give them maximum view of the battle, oh and let's make it so nobody can get to them without suiciding to do it.
TTK: 3 railgun shots will put one down, but they have a faster spool up time, and if he gets the jump on you you are dead.
Cost: Turret vs. A well fitted gunlogi. 0 ISK vs. 1.2mil+ ISK.
Disadvantage: They can't move, but why would you need to when you can see everything on the map?
EDIT: Fix everything else wrong with the game first, but eventually please get around to getting rid of these pieces of Sh*t |

Maybe your just extremely unlucky? I mean, they never seem to do too much of anything until something hits them or somebody takes control.
Only thing that ever gets me is when one of my stray shots hits the blaster installation while I'm trying to kill somebody trying to kill me. That old-timey, riding crop carrying, disciplinary A.I is a damn-good shot with em when your caught in the open.

Issue I have with installations is that they are too inaccurate or don't d enough damage when you hit the target, this is probably because I don't have the necessary skills to use them though. |

My advanced railgun lierally 2 shots any large installation. Most of them get taken out the first few minutes of the game anyway. |

Whatever you have done to NPC Turrets recently (as of June 8th) is AWESOME. Do not change them. I am getting Zero lag in a drop ship, but they kick my arse when I do something stoopid, which I like. I have also noticed they stop locking me from across the map unless I fire at them. Thanks CCP. Again, please keep the NPC Turret AI as it is right now. |

They killed the installation once when 3 of them hit within a second, got out, hopped to another one, started blasting again. |

You must be crazy if you think that a rail turret can take out a gunlogi in three shots,same with killing any dropship in two shots.I will agree that they have some pretty horrid positions at times though.

First off,missile turrets don't auto track at 2000+ meters away,let alone 200+ meters.Furthermore,if you can't get out of the way of the slow ass missiles coming from 2000+ meters away,they you honestly get what you deserve.

This NEVER happens.Most missile turrets don't even have that good of line of sight to shoot clear across the map.

You could say that a good player with ANY weapon that can aim well can take out anything,so the point is moot.
There is no turret currently in this game that you can see everything on any map.If that were the case,NO ONE would ever run tanks because they would get blown up in seconds from being deployed.

No, I wasn't trolling. The lag is reduced a thousand fold, but yeah, the NPC rail guns are too damn accurate over the entire map. All I can advise is not to capture them, but destroy them.
Actually it's kinda tactically fun taking em out before I bring a dropship in, but it takes me the entire match sometimes.
Make structures teamkillable maybe? That would also add a mild element of espionage and tactics to Instant Battles.
The NPC missile effects hitting my dropship are awesome but the NPC rail guns add no eye candy and are too accurate over distance. |
