DUST Search - Are most people bad at this game?

I'm playing an FPS that's a bad shooter... perhaps I shouldn't be. If you're reticule isn't going where you want it to, you've probably still got aim assist on - try turning it off for a big difference in control.

In every battle only about 5 people is actually trying to win the match... the others are there just for the ride, and the easy ISK.

They are just as bad as the Academy players, but they have much better weapons and equipment that really make an unfair advantage to the new players coming in. I think that there needs to be an intermediate league between Academy and regular Pub play because it is not fun sinking more than half a magazine into someone and not even their shields have been taken down. It doesn't help that the gunplay is worse than BF3's on the PS3. There is so much input lag. I've noticed that people here think they are skilled when all they have is better equipment that boost their shields and HP up and weapons that do much more damage along with all the SP they have put into it. All of this wouldn't bother me if the gunplay was actually good, but it is what it is.

If it doesn't Planetside 2 will be a back up plan.

If you played your 1st game months ago then you also have a distinct SP advantage, due to passive SP gains. With that advantage e.g. You have 1 mil SP or more then you will be out of the Academy in less than 20 games. The players outside of the academy on average will be slightly better, just with better stuff and higher SP, but others will be a lot better and a percentage of those will also have very good stuff and extremely high SP.

I'm using the regular Assault Rifle that is like 1.7k ISK. It's not that the default equipment is bad, it's just that everyone else is at an advantage with their much better equipment especially with all the dropsuit upgrades they will invariably have. This is probably all in the plan for CCP anyway. This is a F2P game afterall. The grind to get on the same playing field as the guys that have been playing since the beta phases will be long and tedious, so they have the packs out there for people to buy to get into it much, much quicker. It's pretty obvious.

Having finally got out of Academy, I'll agree with this. Few people actually use tactics while most just have better gear and make it difficult to kill them. Meh.

And I am not surprised Lord Butts, that you have some difficulty understanding the Skill system in relation with weapons and items, it isn't user friendly. So you end up with a need to go on forum to get some info. My best advice, ask for somebody currently playing which could give you a hand with skills, or Look at DS10 tutorial on youtube. Understand that when you'll spent your SP, try not to put them in unwanted skills, because you won't be able to get them back.
