No, I'm not gloating over my m4d 5k11lz. I've only sat down and played Dust twice: months ago during the beta and last night, and half the time I don't even know what's going on. I'd say I'm fairly decent and just screwing around with the game and not taking anything seriously, be it whatever the objective is to the customisation. However, up until now, I've encountered mostly newbs. I don't know if they're literally new to the game or just bad at it, but playing online has mostly been a cakewalk for me. I generally trot through the map wherever I want and hardly anybody notices me, even if I'm right in front of them. When someone decides to shoot, their accuracy tends to be 12% and I just do my thing. I've noticed that the only people that actually put up a fight is the ones with upgraded weapons, so I'm assuming they're the "pros".
I mean look at this:

I wasn't doing some secret agent shiat. Just point and shoot.
Has anyone else noticed this? I only play the "general" type game, if that has anything to do with it. Whatever it's called. Not Corp games or the other option. |

When you get out of the academy in a week's time, you'll see what going against proper opposition feels like. (yes, there are still bad players in the main game but you're going to see many many more very good players too).
How do I get out? Number of games? Points? |

I'll see what I can do.

Ease up, broheim. I already stated I'm new and don't even know what I'm doing.

I'm getting wet just thinking about it.
10,000 lifetime WP or 2 million lifetime SP. Shouldn't take long. Even if you only got 500 WP per game, that's still only 20 games.[/quote]
Interesting. I don't even know what WP is, but I'll have a look. Thanks.
TacKLed lel wrote:They are just as bad as the Academy players, but they have much better weapons and equipment that really make an unfair advantage to the new players coming in. I think that there needs to be an intermediate league between Academy and regular Pub play because it is not fun sinking more than half a magazine into someone and not even their shields have been taken down.
Is it bad that I only use Militia everything? I'm a penny-pincher. |

I'm using the regular Assault Rifle that is like 1.7k ISK. It's not that the default equipment is bad, it's just that everyone else is at an advantage with their much better equipment especially with all the dropsuit upgrades they will invariably have. This is probably all in the plan for CCP anyway. This is a F2P game afterall. The grind to get on the same playing field as the guys that have been playing since the beta phases will be long and tedious, so they have the packs out there for people to buy to get into it much, much quicker. It's pretty obvious.
Hm. Do I only level up the assault rifle by purchasing upgrades/skills, or is it like an rpg exp thing? |

Having finally got out of Academy, I'll agree with this. Few people actually use tactics while most just have better gear and make it difficult to kill them. Meh. |

The academy is a bandaid to match making. And I am not surprised Lord Butts, that you have some difficulty understanding the Skill system in relation with weapons and items, it isn't user friendly. So you end up with a need to go on forum to get some info.
My best advice, ask for somebody currently playing which could give you a hand with skills with voice chat, or Look at DS10 tutorial on youtube. Understand that when you'll spent your SP, try not to put them in unwanted skills, because you won't be able to get them back.
I have started putting them into standard things like assault and sniper rifles. I'll have to look into the skills more, though, because there are many things still that I don't understand. |

Read the thread, you asshat. I'm new to this and didn't know about Academy and real matches.
