It should really belong to the Amarr. I think Gallente should have moderate shielding like the Caldari with speed like the Minmatar, but not armor. The Gallente armors look scrawny, however sleek they look. Maybe give them higher armor repairer instead of armor bonus. My first character is a Gallente and I love him, but I think it's a silly idea being heavily armored while running around in a thin suit.

What about shield tanks? They are second grade against whats suppose to be their equal. Also they are meant to be faster but obviously there is no difference.
Infantry tanking, as in the little people tanks run over.

My first character is a Gallente and I love him, but I think it's a silly idea being heavily armored while running around in a thin suit. You must hate my people :I, even though our suits are "tight" our bodies are covered more than the Caldari, the Caldari seem to have Cloth under their armor plates. Although I believe the Gallente suit should look like the 2nd suit in this image http://www.blackpalette.com/wp-content/gallery/artworks/battlesuits.jpg. I don't hate the Gallente. In fact, I love the Gallente passionately. Gallente is #1 and Amarr is #2 for me. But I still think it's wrong for the Gallente to have superior armor bonuses. Even when playing as one, I still feel funny when others try to take me down and I'm still standing. If I role-play as one in a RPG, I will remove the armor bonuses and add some other stats to even it out. Having armored ships and tanks for Gallente is fine, but not for Gallente characters.
I love the Gallente also, but I don't think they should suffer even more just to be more "realistic" because of how their suit looks, if that's the case then change how it looks. The Gallente suits are already the weakest suits and what your suggesting is to make them weaker.
Also the image on my post came from this thread https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=69066, which assuming Iron Wolf Saber is correct it is a concept art image for Dust 514. |

Also, this design distributes the force of the impact accross the suit, allowing for armor to take more blows in comparison to just plain mass.
Also the Gallente have a thing with organic looking things, who is not to say that the suit they wear is made from an unknown organic compound, it has been shown that some organic compounds, more specifically carbon bonded compounds, have the possibility of being stronger than steel but a lot lighter and a lot thinner.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphene <-- Maybe Gallente suits are made of this...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fullerene <-- Bucky ball compound loved hearing about this one in organic chemistry :) |
