I noticed the new rate of fire change on the Tac AR doesn't seem to be linear in its implementation. If your button presses remain constant the rate of fire will vary over time. At the beginning it will fire a few slow shots, then a burst fire, then back to slow shots. To illustrate here's a diagram:
My button presses ->- X X X X X X X X X
My Rifle shots -> - X - X - X X X - X X
Time in seconds ->- 1---2---3---4---5---
Now I understand there may be an element of network latency involved. The balance of the Tac AR after all was (in part) to eliminate client-side inputs that were unrealistic (modded/auto-fire controllers) but the server side controls on rate of fire seem to make the weapon fire inconsistently by taking an average of shots fired per minute and discarding button presses if the shots exceed the current rate of fire implemented for this weapon, something like:
SPM = shots per minute BP = button presses ROF = Rate of fire of weapon
for BP: If SPM > ROF then: SPM += 0 else SPM += 1 return SPM
(sorry for the pseudo-python)
If the final result is to actually just temper the overall rate of fire of the weapon, wouldn't it be easier from an implementation side and playability side to just have the weapon on slow automatic fire like most other assault rifles. So I hold my button down, it will fire X rounds per second(s), I take my finger off, it stops firing. It will make the rifle feel better to shoot with, it will retain it's original balance (modded controllers will still be constrained by the ROF)
I'm happy to hear all constructive comments or if anyone else noticed this. |

I find it funny how they have some DICE devs but still appear to have no idea what a good gun recoil/aiming mechanic is.
Edit: Only reason TAR was nerfed is because the hip fire was too accurate coupled with big mag spamming death with no drawbacks. But even before this build the TAR did this, so its not a ROF, but an issue CCP will overlook for a long time. |

It should always register your bullet unless you are shooting 7 shots a second, then you will hit the limit on the new 400 RoF. I notice shots not registering and I am nowhere near the level of hitting fire 7 times a second.
Not sure but maybe I get double shot registers, and then my next click fails to fire. Either way it doesn't feel reliable if I am spamming the fire button as fast as I can. (and I can't shoot anywhere near 400 times a minute)
I agree it was overpowered, but when the clip is only 18, I shouldn't be getting failed trigger pulls when I'm manually clicking fire. |

Yep, if you fire faster than the RoF (maybe not faster than the RoF but too fast, as it has to be related to RoF cause it didn't happen before), the gun stutters. Incredibly annoying. They nerfed the RoF by a little too much. Bump it up to 500, keep the other nerfs, perfectly balanced. |

Its ridiculous really, like others have said they should have left the ROF alone and just tweaked the hip fire accuracy and clip size |

This was the case for me even with the 750 or whatever firerate in the past. And is the case now but on a slower scale. I can't get nowhere near 400 rpm as most fire button presses are ignored |

True, I didn't think of doing the calculation myself - at a ROF of 400 per minute that's over 6 shots a second, yet only if I am tapping it like crazy will at best get 3 per second.... and still at this rate it doesn't seem to respect the official ROF - again it might be due to network latency issues but if you guys are experiencing it too something is off. |

I never had a problem with the fire rate either. It should just have recoil relative to your firing. Skilled users can control it - modded users can't take advantage of it. No one gets punished. |
