How many times must I recite this...Mercs getting mowed down by HMG's, getting domed by snipers camping on the high pillars, or even worse...Popped by Locus Grenades from certain vantage points. That is why countermeasures must be affirmed. Yes, I love Tanks...But what kind of tanks do I like?
My answer is that it depends on how you fit them correctly.
On the other note there are two types of Tanks, there's Anti-Infantry and Anti-Armor.
Let me explain what Anti-Infantry is, my fitting for it is 2x 20GJ Militia Blaster Turrets, along with a 80GJ Militia Blaster Turret, and depending on skills I would fit a couple of Shield Boosters, finally a Mobile CRU Unit, if possible.
Anti-Armor is where I take out CRU's, Supply Depots, Instellations, and OF COURSE...Enemy Tanks.
My starter tank would be, if you have the time and money...Use the AI-102 Madrugar, fit it with some but not too many, armor plates. I'm working on getting Prototype Missile Turrets for my tank.
Also beware of Swarm Launchers, they're like a mosquito bite to your Shields, and huge dent on your Armor.
Forge Gunners are one heck of a bump on the rear when it comes to Shields and Armor, but the one I hate the most is...
The Plasma Cannons, they maybe the new celebrity on the battlefield but I rather fight smart instead of having a can of stupid in the morning, and rage quit for the day. That's not cool.
Anyways, If you see me out in the battlefield, its most likely you'll get the upper hand or fall prey to my Anti-Infantry Tank.
P.S. On one Domination Match, thx for all the LAV's you've sacrificed all for nothing. Although it may put a dent on my shields, but I'll see you coming from 200 meters away, lol. |

Dear god, what is it with people and putting MCRU's on tanks and LAV's, and ADS for that matter? Why do people do such silly things? |

what if I came at you with an Assault DS? I've put 8.6 mill into Caldari DSes, vehicle shields, vehicle core upgrades, small turrets and other turret stuff so you know what to expect there. 
my advice if you don`t retreat behind the redline like a coward with only armor left in a Caldari (rant, you can skip the ( this part ): thanks to me following there and then having to go back and make it out at the last second to turn around in time to see you recall your vehicle then get a rail gun and camp under the MCC`s mountain so your safe to orbis and shoot at me the rest of the game...sorry for rant it happened...all started when I was a logi DS that battle) is to use the hills to tilt your tank so you can aim further up, also move back and forth will help mildly. best thing is to do is have AV near you or have another tank spread out but seeing each other so you can cover each other, if your new to the tanks don`t think this isn`t necessary because take it from a guy whos destroyed more then 30 tanks in Uprising and has good kill streaks of them, Assault DSes shouldn`t be ignored because they will mess you up. (note missiles do more damage on armor).

oh and this should raise awareness on some differences to shield vs armor for those whom are new:
small and large missile turrets, AV grenades, Plasma cannons and Swarm launchers. (expect Minimatar gear across the board to be added to this list when they come out) are anti armor, they do damage to shields but do more to armor.
FGs, small rail guns, large rail guns and flux grenades are anti shield, still do good against armor but are best against shields. (expect Ammar and Caldari to raise this list count in future updates). |

plasma launchers are good vs shields and slightly less effective on armor, just like blasters. |

That's... not real tanking. I have 10mil SP towards vehicles, and only use the Baloch to catch up with another vehicle if I get killed while in it.
Tankers don't use militia grade gear, and they don't use mobile CRUs unless it's the Logi dropship. |

I thought rails and forges were hybrid? The only anti shield AV that I know of is the lolplasma cannon. |
