Hello!
I love semi-auto weapons and I use Scrambler Rifles and yes, I do use the hated GLU. I generally like this one more because Scramblers don't feat my mid-long range playstyle. I'm not sure, but I think many players whine about its rate of fire and blindfire accuracy.
Because I've read it can do 1000DPS, so maybe I'm the only one with a super-slow index finger and I can't simply shoot that fast . I'm able to press R1 maybe 6 times per second lol (so I guess it's about 75x6=450DPS for me) and I can't use the damn thing in CQC at all, so I switch to my SMG in that case.
So does anyone know if this incoming nerf will affect these properties? In this case I think I won't suffer at all, but I'm worried... I'm still a new player (900K SP), so if the gun is going to change its feel drastically, I'm going to have most of my SP thrown away... Sadly, these are the only 2 semi-auto rifles in the game and Scramblers have a broken range... Oh yes, they are POWERFUL (maybe even "too" powerful) and amazing, I like the feel and the sound they make, but their range is just broken... I'd rather them a bit weaker but with much better range. As I said I love mid-long range combat, but I'm definitely not a sniper.
(This is off topic, but may I try to suggest to CCP to decrease (a bit) Scrambler's damage and to increase (fairly) its range?)
Thank you very much and sorry for my clumsy english (and of course for liking the TAR lol)! |

I do, on standing still/very easy and not-well-armored targets. No need for a TAR to get a 2 sec kill on a sitting duck, I just need my LV1 SMG |

Hello Keri.
I can't tell you for sure, but I was looking for some info as well and this is what I found:
-A rate of fire Cap will be added. No idea if this will prevent people form tapping like bots (definitely not your case lol) or if it is going to make the gun jamming horribly, I'm sorry.
-The clip size will be reduced. Not sure why, maybe another reason to prevent people from spamming R1... meh. I guess a RoF cap is more than enough.
-Blindfire accuracy will be reduced. This won't hurt.
It seems its range and damage per shot won't be affected, which seems good to me. This kind of weapons (scoped-in semi auto/burst rifles) and Laser Rifles (they are underpowered) needs to dominate the medium-long range combat just like you say, if I got a GEK and you got a GLU you should have a noticeable advantage at your range and I should get the same advantage in CQC. If anything, we need (IMO) a better range for Semi-auto Scramblers and I think the burst AR would need to be closer to the TAC (speaking of ranged combat).
Right now I can snipe people at decent range with my Charged Sniper without getting shot back, unless MAYBE they got a TAR or a Laser Rifle. If they got a LR I will perform an "evil laugh" and kill them lol.
Laser Rifles need a general buff, Scrablers and maybe Burst AR need a range buff (still Scramblers might need their "charged" damage slightly reduced, because it's just crazy to me).

CCP Wolfman has a forum post covering it. Specific stats are to be known very soon.
Do you know when we might see these changes?

They have to be delicate now. Since they took the Beta tag off the reviews slammed this game about as hard as CCP slammed MD's so now they're forced to make small changes in order to acheive weapon balance so that things don't stay out of whack and the reviewers stop killing them. |

Glad to hear that, because I know quite well where "Nerf mania" leads a videogame: Against the same wall. Yeah, let's nerf everything! OMG, a guy killed me with a Laser Rifle! Really, CCP, Nerf that damn thing!! |

They are balancing exactly like they should, instead of overnerfing and overbuffing in a vicious cycle.
I think you'll be surprised how damage falloff combined with the slight CQC efficacy reduction will probably bring the TAC right in line with everything else. |

It does not need a damage fall off, it does need a Blindfire accuracy nerf and a simple RoF cap so that people will stop going epileptic on R1. You can still shoot fast, but just like a human being. |

I was in a match earlier where EVERYONE I came across on the opposing side was in a Proto Caldari Logi with a DTAR. They were shooting like normal ARs, I'm not saying that they were using modded/turbo controllers though tbh, I wouldn't be surprised to find out they were.
They need to make the Tacs into Bolt Action DMRs and just be done with them. If the D-TARDs want to cry and threaten to leave because they can't spam their I-Win button anymore let them leave.
I am really hoping that the changes CCP Wolfman has in store do fix the problem. |

Oh, ****, I was tapping too fast, my gun jammed.
Then make them take twice as long to unjam it as it does to reload. |

The funny thing is that CCP doesn't seem to learn from their mistakes. Last time, they nerfed the TAR HARD, and it became useless.
Seems like they may be heading down the same road. I'd be ok with the DuvTac maybe getting dropped to 24 rounds, even slowing down the ROF and reducing effectiveness in CQC, but on top of that the recoil is being increased. Isn't that one of the main culprits of what ruined the TAC last time... too much recoil?
Also, if the other ARs are getting a buff (had been rumored that their range would be increased slightly) then you definitely don't need so many nerfs to the Tac. The CQC and ROF nerf would have been enough.
PS. CCP, increase the burst AR's range a little! |

I run the tac when i run into full squads of tac users. i never have to aim down the sights. hipfire massacres all around. its a sweet gun, i wish all the guns were this powerful. combat would be way funner. its intense having to take cover/reload/fire/sidestep/melee/fire/swap weapons/melee/ fire/dodge a lav/ pop him with an av grenade/ run. all while your sheilds n armor are repping.
having to put a full clip in the same person is a hassle. weapons and armor develop together as a result of each other. we shouldnt have to spend an hour trying to kill eachother. cold n fast brothers |

If CCP treats this game the may it has treated Eve for a decade, we Dust 514 lovers are in for a treat - a FPS with a true MMO, and maybe sooner or later, some RPG elements. I am totally onboard... BUT... There is an obstacle, a big a** boulder blocking the path: Lack of new players, and, frankly, interest in general. I have gotten many to try Dust, only ONE remains. He's a FPS guy who loves RPG stuff; customization kept him playing. Those that quit after a dozen games mostly gave me the same complaint: they were so "overkilled" that they went back to CoD or Skyrim or whatever. Right now, new players seem to hate the TAR. And they should! It is a mouse weapon they cannot use well as a casual player, and they become disgruntled and quit. They are outclassed, not by skill, but by (as we RPG guys say) "min-maxers". Guys who find a niche to abuse and do it well. Now, I'm not saying players shouldn't find a niche and sink in; that's a good thing. But if a player with a programable USB mouse and keyboard setup is gonna kill our game, that needs to be corrected. I have said before, and say now, that in real life there is a dire penalty for firing a TAR rapidly. It is not designed to do that for very long, you warp the barrel, you get jams; it's a bad idea. I believe we should incorporate these "realisms". A TAR, today, is designed to fire no more than twice in a second. If you do so, bad things happen. I understand that this is not CoD, future tech and all that. The important thing is to keep noobs comin' back until they are regular players. That's obvious enough, right? My stuff gets nerfed, and that's ok. I lost 2 meters diameter (1 meter radius) on my mass drivers; it's mostly a weak shotgun with an arc now. But I use it because it's fun for me. If the noobs don't have fun, we lose our game. That's worth repeating: IF THE NOOBS DON'T HAVE FUN WE LOSE OUR GAME. |

Sounds cool but in practice I think that would be worse. The only people it would affect would be NON modded controllers. Mod Controllers would just set the clicks per second to the exact speed just below jamming.
