Clarification-
the dropship is not a weapons platform, it is a transport.
the logistics dropship is a utility transport
the assault dropship is a rapid deployment transport capable of supressing enemys at the landing zone
Note-
if you hover stationary in the air and get instantly shot down then the dropship is work as intened.
note the word "transport" it is not a gunship, fast air support or a frigate.
The fast air is to come but the dropship is not the solution, i understand your pain as pilots but this is something we will have to accept guys... |

Then were are our rewards for transporting people? Right now our only WP source is from kills and assists, we don't even get WP for MCRU spawns. |

OP is inaccurate in regards to any assertion of the Assault Dropships being primarily transports in nature.
They only carry 2 additional passengers beyond the pilot, therefor, their design and intended use is one of an offensive/defensive weapons platform, not transportation. |

OP has limited knowledge.
A dropship has to hang round to land, to be boarded or the drop troops off. It it can be 1 shot during this process it is not fit for task. Hanging round is what a DS does so troops can be transported. fighter planes don't hang round nor do bombers but drop ships do. it is infant what they should do best. Take fire while pulling forces from a hostile area.
So OHK on a DS that is still is not balance. The process of coming to land, troop action then extraction is a slow one. We need the ability to hang round. |

Until I get points for using it as a transport and there is maps and game modes that a dropship could have a significant impact on as a transport then I will continue to have an issue with the dropship's lack of alternative means of gaining WP. As it stands right now even if there was WP for transporting troops it would not be used in serious PC battles as uplinks get a clone back into battle faster and more efficiently.
I only see the dropship having value in matches two or three times as large as they are right now and on maps at least four times bigger with objectives scattered throughout.
Idea: A game mode that would a dropship would have notable value in.
The map is about four times as big as the current maps, (twice might only really be needed but four times would make it most apparent) and there is about 10 or more objectives scattered throughout the map. The key aspect is though that only a few of them are vulnerable at any given time (lets say 3). There is too many for a single team to have uplinks at every objective and due to the size of the map moving existing troops is a problem. LAVs could do the job but having a dropship and pilot could move an entire squad all at the same time and, with a good pilot, ensure safe arrival of the whole group. (Alternative, would be a great match mode for an APC type ground vehicle should CCP ever introduce one).
Added benefit: A Logi dropship would allow troops to spawn directly into it there by allowing lightning quick reactions to new objectives opening up. |

thanks messiah for teaching us pilots how to use our ISK and SP in a role that doesn`t give us WP when that's its primary reward so yea I`ll go back to killing people with my ASSUALT DS and using my Logi DS when 1 of my buddy's uses a tank 9for triage) or if we need a place to spawn because I do use my gear wisely. |
