I am just wondering how scouts are doing.Anyone adv or proto care to share?
I have been playing scout today and it seems when it works,it REALLY works. But then there are matches that just make ya wanna delete the fitting lol.Kind of hard to gauge the class right now with me not having much in it.
sooo ya.How are they at higher level, and what are any known plans for the scout class in the future?
Thanks! ^_^ |

Well, I prefer the mobility and scout mentality.
What scouts have in store for the future is large maps. When large maps are introduced, a scout will be something that scanners (which will become much more prevalent on larger maps) can not easily detect.
Currently, it's all about the light frames. The maps are too condensed so scanning is almost obsolete, because with maps so small, you're bound to run into the enemies.
At a higher level, you have so much more fitting capabilities (not compared to medium frames though). But last build I was able to stack complex shield extenders basic plate and basic reps on an ADV scout (I can probably still do it just need Shield Extender level 5) and let me tell you it was a god fitting. And that was just on the ADV.
It can definitely be a hit-&-miss suit though. Currently, my methods really involve either fast piercing strikes or hit and runs and quite often those methods will not complement the battle at hand, where it's a long arduous trench-warfare gun fight.

Just had an amazing match.Prevented two hacks with RE's.After playing peekaboo with someone in a door way I crouched right beside the entrance and charged my nova knives, when he came in,DEAD.Got many shotgun kills though I am still not great with the shotgun. Oh so fun. |

Ok then we are walking the same path roughly.
Check out Vyuru from our school, he's a shotty-scout-RE I'm a Mass Driver-Scout-RE
We are the breed I like to call, Le Saboteur
We sneak in, place bombs, cause havoc. Simple as that. The great thing about RE's is that you are specializing into both an Anti Personnel and Anti Vehicular piece of equipment that opens up a world of tactics.
So you are, from a weapon standpoint, CQC, like the V-Man. I am not too CQC, so I run Mass Drivers and Scrambler Pistols. Just a different leaf on that same branch. |

Like Survival Horror games? Slap on a scout suit and jump into a planetary conquest match.
Search the Forums. Lots of "scout broken" threads with detailed explanations.
My advice? Stay away. Unless you're running Nova Knives .

Stay away. Unless you're running Nova Knives . Sadly, the suit simply isn't viable at higher levels when fighting organized opponents. Scout/shotty was an awesome build in Chromosome. Fingers crossed that CCP brings it back in Uprising. - Shotty GoBang PS: Bojo always has great feedback, and I defer to his expertise should he disagree with the above caveat.
I am def running knives lol, they are badass.I am having issues getting used to them though. If I am lucky I will get 2-4 kills in a skirmish match with them.Right now, just playing matches that don't matter and dicking around,I do like logi and scout. But I think I will wait a good while before spending any more points and messing myself up later.Time to stockpile em until some more class tinkering is done.

Proto Scouts are damned near OP in pub matches.
In PC matches, less so.
edit - in Chromosome I ran PRoto assault with mass driver. And then one day I put a mass driver on a scout. And wrecked all kinds of hell. I didn't spec into MD in Uprising because they nerfed both the MD and the scout (you needed both equipment slots for ammo).
I am tempted now and then to go back to scout/MD. Maybe one day I will. I used to be the only one... |

I am a good ways off from PC so that isn't too much of a concern at the moment.I wish I was around in the beta, but my fault I wasn't.

You're probably closer to PC than you think. PC squads need diversity, and lots of the scout community bailed after the latest re-spec. When you do get called upon for PC, it'll be your job to sneak uplinks into contested or tactically beneficial areas. You'll want to avoid combat unless a wounded idiot strays from the herd.
With that said, skilling into Biotics is a must. You'll need the speed and stamina. The Greens and Reds also come in handy in pubs.

I've ran shotgun scouts exclusively ever since I first picked up the combination early December, and I have no regrets. Sure, some might call the Gallente scouts useless/broken/unviable/underpowered/etc. but I do not care about that. The most important reason why I run scouts with shotguns and remote explosives is because it's frigging fun. I have also been called specifically to PC matches since I'm the one of the two only shotgun scouts in my corporation, and my playstyle is really needed within the battles. |

I agree shotgun scouts are fricken fun. Their utility however is somewhat questionable. IF you want to be really useful as a shotgunner/CQC there is very little benefit to going scout frame. You get some mobility, you get EWAR bonuses (which are fairly useless at the moment, there's hope in the future but for now they suck), a kickass shield recharge, and that's about it. I despair for the current scout situation.
The class that you recommend can be ported over to a minmatar logi. They are already pretty quick so just toss one or two complex kin cats on them and you have the mobility. They have more slots (more shields, more armor, more buffer), more CPU/PG, more equipment slots, a racial bonus to hacking (huge bonus in my opinion), and built in armor repping.
As a full scout on my main character I will never go this route. That is also why I am next to useless for PC matches. True the proto scouts are beasts in pub matches, but that is also where there is more diversity. PC is all about DPS at the moment, especially with the TAR and stacking of caldari logis. Scouts just can't compete in that environment.
That said, when there is a greater diversity of suits and "roles" like what you see in pub matches (especially FW), scouts can not only be useful, but downright essential.
Back to the OP's thread: the variation in how well you do in matches is likely associated with not only the level of player in said matches but also the mix of roles that fill out those matches. The greater the number of people that have enough HP to survive one hit with a shotgun, the harder a time you'll have. Your greatest advantage is speed and sneakiness. You shoot once and your cover is blown, the TAR user (or heavy HMG....) turns around and with 4 shots in less than a second you're dead. |

Umm Ive been Scout MD since day 1 closed beta.. and nobody does it better partner :)... Got lucky and went this route out the gate.. it was a beautiful thing.. until they nerfed the MD..now it blows
Was rocking Gauged Uplinks, and MD.. then once Uplinks are down change fitting to MD/ C4 to save money.. I was always #1 on WP list.. usually by far .. well sometimes a sniper would go 30-0 and beat me..
I decided to stick with this outfit and this Weapon.. I swear they saw me pwning and targeted my build lol... poor decision.. this build blows hard for this .. Im proto scout with proto MD prof 5.. Proto Flaylok.proto Uplinks.and guess what EVERYTHING i like is broken..jokes on me
To the UP.. Scout is has one thing thats so nice in this game.. Speed.. not in sprinting.. but jumping and mobility.. it just feels nicer.. like a porsche vs. carpeted panel van (assault class) |
