You do not seem to care about snipers.
The entire game seems geared more for Assault and Heavy Mobile Equipment.
While these are important for battles, a sniper is also important (even though many hate us).
Here is my list of requests/wants:
1. We need better scopes. It would be great if we could purchase different scopes for our SR's. 1a. it would be great to be able to add an active scanner on certain scopes. 2. Range finder. Almost all sniper scopes today have range finders, yet this "futuristic and more advanced" fighting game does not have this available. 3. Under attributes, it would be nice to know the range, and when that starts to diminish. 4. More/better rifles. When can we see something better come out? Right now the only SR that I really like is the Thale TAR-07, yet they are unavailable. If it could be available under Prototype, with lvl 5 on both dropsuit conditions, along with lvl 5 on weaponry, or even with other prerequisites would be fine with me. 5. A display readout on the screen showing your lvl of energy so that you know how easy you can be detected.

As a 24/7 sniper, of the list i only agree with the rangefinder.
1. The scopes are good as is, the one dot provides excellent accuracy while maintaining good visibility 1a. Active scanners would promote more mountain/cliff camping. If you want an enemy to pop up on team minimap, simply looking at them should be sufficient enough 2. I agree with rangefinder. It would help team-wise to be able to describe enemy positions accurately at a distance 3. Also agree. We need to know sniper range and its effectivenss 4. Disagree. All the rifles are good as is. I use a NT-511 with 2 complex mods and can take down any protos in 2 and 1/2 hits (1/2 comes from my smg). Thales is officer for a reason. 5. You should already be able to calculate your own scan reading
My only gripe is the fact that sniper rifles settle too long. It takes a full 3 seconds to stablize the sniper rifle at operations 5. I say, change resettle time for tactical sniper rifles to 1 second and charge/regular sniper rifles to 2 seconds. This would make defending/offending objectives doable. I would also say remove sway while standing also, but thats too much |

It used to display the range when you were aiming at a player, vehicle, or structure. Did they take that out? It was in the text that comes up just left of middle on the bottom of your screen.
It would be nice to have a proper range finder though, that would give you a range to any solid object, not just enemies/friendlies.
When I was a sniper I mostly just used the militia sniper rifle because I was a cheapskate. I figured that if I could not kill someone with 3 shots then I did not deserve the kill. However, that was before uprising, so there were not as many proto suits around. |

Glad you are happy, but so far, others seem to agree with me. If you like the way they are, then you would have the option to only improve you SR equipment to the levels that they currently are at, but I would like to keep the improvements coming.
I've been a sniper all along. Things have changed, some are good, but the scopes are not that good. Maybe because I am an older player and eye sight isn't as good as when I was younger, but with the Thale, I can see and hit my target by about 3 to 1 as with any other scope. I do like the Ishukone, but not the scope.
I would not mind having to skill up (use SP) to get better SR equipment. As of now, I won't spend SP on "Sniper Rifle Ammo Capacity" at (3x), because that is only 7 to 8 shells for a total of 932,760 SP, nor will I spend it on "Sniper Rifle Rapid Reload" at 6x, because that is less than 1 second for a total of 1,865,520 SP.
So there are a number of areas that they could improve upon for snipers, but the ones that I listed, are the ones that I would really like to see implemented.
I hope that others that agree would sound off, so that the developers would consider these implementations. |

IF they implement different scopes, i hope to see chevron scopes. those are my favorite. However, i still stick by the faster settledown time |

Yes for more/ better scopes. Please give something like crosshair customization, or something other than just a dot. I don't know what it is, but something as simple as a fine circle around the center point or non obstructive crosshairs makes shooting a better experience.
Also, scopes that zoom and or have 2 or 3 magnification levels would be fantastic, they do exist, even today in 2013. |

The range of the target is the only thing I can agree with.
Snipers are OP enough in this game because of the map size and distance other guns shoot. Sure it does take A LOT of talent to snipe in this game, but if you invest a lot of time into it, you become immortal and can easily get 30+ kills with zero deaths because you are up on a tower where no one can get to you, or shoot at you without a sniper rifle because you are so far up. |

I too have been sniping for many builds. As for the sway, I am a real life sniper and I am gonna tell you unless you are actually prone, laying down, your gun in real life will continuously have some sway. So I have no problem timing my sway and popping you in the first second of lining up. I agree with the scopes being changed. In fact, I hit a red dot that was briefly on my screen and then disappeared. I just aimed where I saw him and pulled the trigger. At the end of the game it said longest kill was 575 m. I wish you could see your targets in your scope to the sniper rifles max range, whatever that actually is, since enemy targets aren't visible past a certain point, but should be when looking down a scope! Also, Ishukone used to be my favorite gun, and I'm not saying that it has been nerfed, but with the advancement of the dropsuit armor and shield modules it definitely takes more, if not too many, shots to kill the enemy. Seeing as how it is a proto gun and, as I said, used to be my favorite, its not worth using. I now use the charge, but as a sniper in real life, I hate holding the trigger and reverse shooting people. It is not natural. I lived my life by "one shot, one kill!" and it is a hard enough dealing with killing in two with charge and damage mods, but three with charger is rediculous, let alone how many that would take with my old Ishukone. Just sayin, not crying, just would like more realism to the gun even though it is futuristic. |

As a sniper i'll say this... they should make some map where sniper don't have 2 hide behind the redline or on top of tower, alot of these maps are horrible for snipers. Another thing I like them 2 improve is the SPAWN system DX!!!!! Us sniper rarely defend themself up close because of the scope (I Know, I know... NO QUICK SCOPING.) So they should have different scope cause even if this scope is okay, alot of us are custom to other scope from other fps... and please change the sound of the charge sniper rifle.... it very irritating :c |

And i havent got a thale tar 7 as a reward in a while.. are they out of rotation?
Is the one i use, and even if the zoom is a little to strong, the punch it gives makes it worth it. |

also playing as sniper and mostly agree with your points, Ishukone is my weapon of choice for best balance of damage and firing speed .
1. variable zoom function or purchase of different scopes would be great. Also lets us burn more ISK that way.
2. Range finder, not sure on the relevance really.
3. variable ammunition for shield vs armor would be nice
4. specific target hotspots on turrets, tanks or dropships would be great so snipers can damage those (think gas tank or engine block). Obviously they need to be properly balanced in either size or position.
5. Biggest beef for me, when health bars obscure target dot when aiming at targets at >350 m. It's a pain to aim at a crowd and just see a bunch of red bars covering everything. Would be nice to bee able to turn those bars off manually somehow. |

CCP caters to snipers. They gave snipers wide open maps, brought the redline closer to the action on Manus Peaks and Ashland which allows you to hide behind the redline while having clearer shots. You were also given very clear vantage points overlooking objectives so opponents cannot hack. You can simply hide in the hills and shoot. CCP also increased sniper rifle damage. Let's not forget the Thale Officer Sniper Rifle which does way too much damage, more so than even the charge sniper rifle which should be the most powerful single shot sniper rifle. These are rare sniper rifles but you shouldn't die in them much since you can easily hide behind the redline. I think CCP gave a very good amount to the sniper class. |

I dislike snipers but I do enjoy a GOOD sniper on my team. They are hard to find.
Glad you think so, because i have been away (at work) and since I have been back, is not completely true.
While there are some good advantage points, there hasn't been many where I haven't been taken out. The range on the rifles have been nerfed way to much. Being an Ex military and a sharpshooter, the sniper rifles do not have the range they should. I have noticed that on 2 maps, the "targets" disappear at 411 meters; while I can see their red chevron, they disappeared and firing at them did no damage. A real sniper rifle can see and knock out a target at farther distances than this.
I have been increasingly disappointed in the game, and it looks as if others are too. Sony best think about this game, as they have stopped getting regular funds from me to make purchases, much of which was for this game.
I don't think that what I have asked for is to much, or at least a compromise of some sort. I have used SP on some items that are way to high priced for what you get; such as the Sniper Rifle Ammo Capacity at 3x, which can net you six to eight shot (depending on the rifle) for a total of 932,760 SP. Another that is even worse is the Sniper Rifle Rapid Reload at 6x where you don;t even gain a full second for your 1,865,520 SP that it will cost you.
A real sniper does become invisible, yet the teats that I have done (with some help from some friends) show that while real low level mercs can't see me very easy, higher mercs (and not top ones) still can find me pretty easy. Those Precision Enhancers, Complex Amplifier and Dampeners do not really do as much as they should - for the price it takes to get them.
Overall, the game has a long way to go before I will devote a whole lot of time and funds as I have in the past.
I haven't totally given up on it, but have lost a lot of interest at this point. |

Totally agree to all of this, with the current state of overinflated HP of classes, the only viable weapon is the thale and even that is not enough to 1 shot most of the time and has the only usable scope. |

Yesss we need some love, Prone stance, Bipod, different snipers, different scopes, different sounds! We need more powerful snipers. Guess what we can always be counter-sniped, that is if your squad has one. At level 5 operation the gun sways alot in the beginnig while crouched. I need to be constantly "scoping" and then looking at my surroundings, so it is annoying having to wait again for it to stabilize over and over and over.
we need some love to take out those pesky infantry |
