That is the question (Shakespear's voice). lol.
Okay so in a game today I had a debate about why I blew up the CRU. Without having to say it was obviously in enemy hands. I explained to the guy why I did it. Reasons follow.
The CRU is one of the most crucial installations in any match. Fallen into the wrong hands it can sway a match in favor of who owns it. Once hacked it can allow a squad or even whole team spawn on it. There is no wait time. Any good player/squad knows that if u wanna take a point or area, hack the CRU first. It almost seems impossible or even pointless to take a cannon without hacking or destroying the CRU first. I play tanker and infantry, and most time find it very hard without an organized team to take back a CRU. Then most the game is spent fighting over the CRU instead of hacking cannons for the win. This is stuff that I know you already know, so I apologize for stating the obvious. I understand that what I said can work for my team as well, but I find it better to get rid of the CRU all together. Just my opinion. Oh and for those who are gonna say that I/tank drivers do it for the massive amounts of wps. Nah bro, 50 wps hardly seems sufficient for the time. I do it for the win.
Anyways I wanted to know if I or any other tank driver is on your team would u want me/them to blow up the CRU or not? If so, under what circumstances, and if not explain why. |

Cannons can go DIAF and I'm usually fine with popping CRU's. I've found if you can't hold them you don't have much of a chance of holding the objective either. It really is the superior method of getting a foothold into an area spawn camping be damned. The thing that always annoys the hell out of me is popping the supply depots. I'm one of the 16 remaining idiots who's both a logi and uses a mass driver. That means I'm pretty dependant on needing to drop or refresh nano hives. A popped supply depot means that just that much more pressure on my now crappy nanohives. |

Personally I dont think you're wrong with going with either choice. Its perfectly balanced so both sides can take equal advantage out of it. The only ones I blow up though are the redline ones next to enemy base camp, it gets attacked more than its worth to keep.
I just wish they decreased the on that thing. |

I find it hilarious to set a bunch of proto remote explosives around a CRU, then when there are a bunch of people around it blow everything up. I once got 6 kills and a CRU destruction from it. |

When I play as infantry (who uses militia nano-hives) it can get real ugly. As a tank driver I understand the science behind destroying supply depots. It just makes it too easy for a group to grab thier militia swarm launchers and drop massive amounts of dps on a tank and then go back to what they were doing. By destroying the depot, you make player commit to that class and they pretty much are defenseless against our infantry. So it is a tactic, but it can make things harder for some guys. |
