Did it seriously not cross your mind to wonder where all that extra isk came from in the first place, or to check the forum to find out, or ask someone in game what was going on, or even that it might be a bad idea to spend all of it in one go?

With the amount of time people spend here in the forums complaining about how everything is broken, you'd think they would have noticed a post or two regarding a part of the game that actually was.

So, you honestly thought that they were just going to give back all the ISK that you had spent on consumables to date, in addition to what you spent on Skill Books?
So, basically, you thought that everything that you'd spent ISK on up until now would have essentially been free, and that didn't seem just a little bit ... generous?
It never once occurred to you that, taken in the context of a SKILL RESPEC, that they were probably referring specifically to ONLY the ISK spent to obtain the SKILLS that were being respecced?
No offence but, to me at least, this just seems that you were being either incredibly naive, or intentionally ignorant. |

No actually I just don't give a ****, but you're welcome to your opinion.
I actually just thought it had to do with the fact that dropships are a joke, and they were going to give us a hand.
Silly me, they haven't done that once in over a year, why start now, right CCP?
I'm -100 million ISK and will STILL have more ISK than most of the nubs that play this game in no time, not worried in the least.
I just find it hilarious. Watching this train wreck for a year now has been painfully amusing. |

so. i got 400 million bonus isk yesterday. i checked the forums, i asked some people.
there was no relevant explanation for it. bank error in my favor? yes please.
so i spent a large portion of it. long before ccp issued a message saying 'whoops, my bad, we're stupid, please don't spend that isk we gave you'.
this is so unfathomably irresponsible and dumb on ccp's part. the fact that anyone is negative right now is a testament to the failure and incompetence of their developers. |

Apparently, I'm not the one playing stupid. I got my requested skill respec on Tuesday and, once I had reallocated my skill points, I had an excessive amount of ISK left over.
NOT being stupid, I realized that there was no possible way that the refunded Skill Books could possibly account for all that extra cash, so I did the NOT-stupid thing, and didn't spend it.
What I find hilarious is all the people who did "play stupid" by thinking they could take advantage of this obviously erroneous winfall, and got burned for it. |

What, that the email I received said all ISK would be refunded, right after they removed assets and refunded ISK, and then I was returned to my initial amount of ISK (130 Million, lol fail ships)
It doesn't matter to me, this game is in a hilariously bad state right now, it's just plain boring. I couldn't care less, I'm just calling out CCP's complete lack of transparency and inability to properly word an email, is all.
I bought 500 of my basic, advanced, and prototype suits knowing full well that CCP wouldn't keep their word.
As I said, even at -100 million ISK I'm far better off than at least 70% of this games population, and I'll earn that back in a quarter of the time it takes most to earn half that |

I spent about 90 mil on 1000 of my primary fits before any announcement was made. Was that dumb? Probably. It's all good though because I'm only -28 mil and have 2000 fittings to work with. I normally only die 3 times or less, so those 2000 fits should last about 700 games. 700 games at 200k ISK per game is 140 mil ISK, not including crazy ISK income from 2-3 PC battles per day.

As I said, enjoy your 'quick little grind' back to 0 from -100 million. The most I've heard anyone ever earn from a match is 500,000 ISK.
And ASSUMING that you earn 500k EVERY SINGLE GAME, you have a maximum of 200 games to get back to zero. Again, assuming you get 500k. The more likely figure is 100-200k, in which case it is going to be more like 1000 games.
Have fun re-doing the grind. |

Because you've got to complete a MINIMUM of 200 (more around 750-100) games before you can purchase anything new.
By then new patches will come out and new weapons will be around, but you will still be dangling near the -25 million mark while everyone plays with new kit.
Don't try to pretend you don't regret it, you are depending on the fact that you think you won't run out of kit, and that you think you have the patience to run 1000 games without wanting to change playstyle. |

I have played every single play style (except LRs and the new weapons), fairly extensively at that.

No, YOU trust ME, bro.
After the 50 mark for games played without having any new stuff, you will desperately seek to try out the lasers, scrambler rifle and others. It is natural, you will get sick of grinding for a pointless reason, heck you will probably even lose most of the dropsuits by the time you get back up. And that will take absolutely ages, see you in 6 months when you're back on the level.

It was actually a bit of both
The email clearly said that I would have my ISK refunded.
Knowing that CCP has a habit of screwing the pooch ::cough cough:: Uprising ::cough cough:: I expected my ISK to not be refunded as claimed.
And here I am. Not having to worry about refitting for a very, very long time.

Does this not seem just a little unfair to the honest and/or new players who DIDN'T exploit the situation? It's bad enough that the Beta vets didn't get reset at launch, providing them an immediate advantage over the influx of new players, but now many of these same vets have stockpiled a ton of the best gear, essentially removing any short-term risk for using that same gear, further compounding that advantage!
How can noobs expect to survive and compete against more experienced players who now have a seemingly endless supply of the best gear money can buy?
Maybe the rest of us should submit a ticket to CCP Support, and ask for a 100 million ISK advance on our next three months of gaming?
Apparently the Bank of Dust is now giving out interest-free loans! No job? No credit? NO PROBLEM! |

It was a misleading email. When you say ALL ISK will be refunded, one tends to think that ALL ISK will be refunded, especially when you sign on to see that ALL your ISK was refunded
I didn't know it was an error all along, I just know how CCP operates, and prepared for the worst
It is compensation for Dropships, as indicated by the email that says ALL my ISK will be refunded.

You saw an opportunity to scam the system, took advantage of it, and now you're making excuses to justify your behaviour.

So will those with negative balance want to reverse those purchase, or just keep gear and remove negative balance is the real question. |

How is it "taking advantage" ?
You know what happens if CCP decides to set me back to 30 million ISK?
I stomp noobs and restock fits
You know what happens if they don't?
I stomp noobs and don't restock fits |

What, that the email I received said all ISK would be refunded, right after they removed assets and refunded ISK, and then I was returned to my initial amount of ISK (130 Million, lol fail ships) It doesn't matter to me, this game is in a hilariously bad state right now, it's just plain boring. I couldn't care less, I'm just calling out CCP's complete lack of transparency and inability to properly word an email, is all. I bought 500 of my basic, advanced, and prototype suits knowing full well that CCP wouldn't keep their word. As I said, even at -100 million ISK I'm far better off than at least 70% of this games population, and I'll earn that back in a quarter of the time it takes most to earn half that
lol. I feel ya, man. CCP includes the fine print just because. They ignore it or change whenever it is convenient. If you're new you might believe CCP is on your side. If you've been around for a year like some of us, you'll more likely believe this is par for the course. Once this is behind us CCP will break something else and then do whatevr they want without any real regard for the players, or by listening to whichever group QQ's the loudest.
Wow. I used to be such a fanboy. I'd laugh, but I'm just too sad.

I didnt get burned by this because i understand that the forums are mandatory. But my roommate vag eye lenol hes an idiot. He asked people in game and got incorrect info. Should have seen his reaction when i told him the money was being taken back. My other roommate captwright who is only a casual player heard us talkin bout this and asked if ccp sent a out a ingame mail. Can you believe that idiot expecting the info about the game to be in the game. What a piece of ****. At least no one changed their spending habits to much. |

Follow up question How do you feel knowing others like myself werent dumb enough to go throwing a bunch of isk around still have bank accounts in the positive while you have to dig out of the negatives?
Here is how i imagine a majority of the population plays. They play for maybe 12hours a week. They unlikely have any ingame friends or go to any of the chat channels. They use fail fits and one they got on an saw extra ISK. They probably thought it was a gift or something. A minority of the gaming population uses the forums. I imagine a small one too. We have like 5k players in game at any moment how many names do you see as regulars posting on the forums 40? How many people have you seen since your time on the forums ? Hundreds ? |

Rannici wrote:so. i got 400 million bonus isk yesterday. i checked the forums, i asked some people.
there was no relevant explanation for it. bank error in my favor? yes please.
so i spent a large portion of it. long before ccp issued a message saying 'whoops, my bad, we're stupid, please don't spend that isk we gave you'.
this is so unfathomably irresponsible and dumb on ccp's part. the fact that anyone is negative right now is a testament to the failure and incompetence of their developers. The same thing happens in real life sometimes. If a million dollars shows up in your bank account without explanation, I would strongly advise you not to spend it until you figure out where it came from. |
