Damn man! I'm so glad you're here to tell me that a scout is just as good as a 600HP logi that sprint strafes at very similar speeds and has 50+ extra melee damage, and equipment.
Silly me, how I've been stat crunching this stuff since closed beta and exclusively playing scout. I wish I was just as good as you. |

At OP. Not quite. You'll find that a Scout Shottie build takes more skill than you realize.
It is not, and never has been OP by any means.
Smart scout shotties will try not to find themselves in the open very long. If they don't find a wall to get behind in time, pop pop pop down they go.
I'd laugh to see a bunch of idiots start running scout shottie assuming that will replace the function they had using a tac. It just won't happen. Some people are good at scout shottie, some aren't. It's great for CQC, but is generally suicidal in field confrontations... even more so than a heavy is. If you're not able to kill a scout shottie in an open field, then you need to improve your aim. They are fast, but don't take much to put down. |

If a Shotgun Scout gets the drop on another Shotgun Scout, the first Scout usually wins. If a Shotgun Scout gets the drop on a Shotgun Logi, their additional surviviability can often be enough to tip the balance back into being a fair fight. But to be fair, the Shotgun Scout has better base canning AND better scan profile stats, so unless the Logi is built for scanning, the Scout WILL have a better chance of striking first. And if the Logi IS built for scanning, that means they're giving up some of that speed and stamina, giving the Scout other advantages to exploit and keep the balance.
Sounds to me like it's working. Logis do have good advantages, but so do Scouts. A cautious player is still a tough opponent for a Scout, and a well-fitted Logi is a tough target for one, but the logis are easy targets for other enemies, and a good Scout can light them up easily and make them obvious targets as well as easy ones. Your Shotgun Logi can't get within 15m of a max-skilled Gallente Scout (even if they're not running a top-tier suit or adding Range Enchancers) without lighting up for everyone to see. Meaning you're an easy target for that AR guy standing more than 5 times your max range. |
