Seriously is there really a need for a redline?
We already have friendly fire in the match so why is there a redline for people to lurk in. If i were to be more specific since i understand there is a real need for map boundaries then at the least make the redlines identical so there isn't a safe zone for either team.
Basically make the redline the absolute limit of the maps borders and the entire area contained is playable for both teams. In a competitive match that has FF enabled there should be no quarter given for someone who is pushed all the way back to their primary spawns.
In fact it almost rarely occurs because people play this game pretty well in PC and use plenty of links and do a good job of at least retaining 1-2 letters even when pushed back on their heels.
As it is the only real use the redline has in PC is for people to play in a safety area with no chance of ever being put into danger. While its admirable CCP wants this in Pub matches there is simply no need for it in PC especially if the mode has FF its basically saying play tactical and mind your fire but don't worry if you are too far out of your depth we have this barrier that will protect you.
Thanks. |

None of the reasons I know for the existence of the red line in pubs translate into PC.

I can see why it's in pub matches, but it really has no place in the lawless universe of New Eden. |

Yes I agree, nothing worse than Red line sniping tanks in PC, The only counter is to waste some of your tankers to just tie them up. So then you have tankers just shooting at each other the entire match with little chance of killing one another. |

Lose 1 tank fight and have no place to call in another. In general I agree with the sentiment, but I think this could be a serious problem. |

Don't lose a tank fight and also theres a lot of space on the map. Spawn on a different letter and get to open terrain on the opposite end of the map.
And im not opposed to a small redline immediately surrounding the spawns but they need to be very tight so they aren't abused to avoid fighting. |

Yes you should never lose a tank fight, and I am a big fan of games that punish people for their mistakes, but I think 1 tank loss would give a disproportionate amount of map control to the winner if there was no safe space to call in another. As it is if you lose a tank the opposing tanker has a considerable advantage, as he is free to shoot your tank and rdv as it is coming in, should he choose to do so.
An arguement could also be made that it would be on the infantry and AV guys to take out the tank before your tanker calls in another, but, as I said I still think it is an unfair punishment for what could have been a small mistake. I think a small redline that you suggested would be good, giving the tankers just enough space to get on the ground safely. |

Maybe we should get CCP to not have such a stupid way to bring your tank into the match. Just get rid of the RDV's they suck and crash all the time. Just have a drop pod bring one in like in warhammer. or hell have it so you drop pod in with your tank in the redline it just costs extra isk for the drop pod and the spawn time takes longer. |

They should get rid of the redline and bring back the ability to damage the MCC. You can hole up in your MCC if you want, but we will all call rail tanks and slowly chip away at your MCC until 150 of you explode with the ship. |

While they're at it, get rid of the shield in the MCC so there is LITERALLY no safe zone for anyone to hide in.
Oh, and remove the dampeners too. No one should survive a fall that's high enough to allow you to use one. |

Yes removing the rdvs would fix the problem. I think I can speak for all vehicle pilots when I say that RDVs suck balls and would not miss them for a moment.

Yep the MCC already has turrets. Maybe the MCC turrets redirect their fire once you enter enemy's spawn area?

Can we fix the timers while we're at it? Had quite a few cases where I go into the redline then come out again and the timer keeps counting down, I also had the timer lie to me once, said I had 10 seconds when I actually had 5. |

You could abuse it, just have a guy in a dropship afterburner into and out of the spawn, and their MCC will stop shooting at yours, keep it up long enough and you can skew the game in your favor. |

Then CCP can add more turrets on the MCC to correct it. I'm also in agreement for this idea. |
