Long story short I decided to respec into the road less traveled, dropships. Main reason was so if I was going to die I'd at least see it coming and potentially have something to do about it, save for the occasional RDV which honestly hasn't been much of a problem so far. Overall though it's been pretty challenging, which I love (what's the point if you're good at something from the start?) I'd love some tips since I'm still sort of new to this.
I have two main builds right now
Eryx - Logistics Dropship CPU: 239 / 287 PG: 439 / 469 Shield: 3196 HP Armor: 1000 HP Shield Recharge Rate: 29.42 XT-1 Fragmented Missile Launcher XT-1 Fragmented Missile Launcher Azeotropic Ward Shield Extender Azeotropic Ward Shield Extender 'Surge' Shield Reinforcement Ward Shield Regenerator Light IG-L Polarized Armor Regenerator Local Powergrid Expansion Unit Cost: 766,475 ISK
and
Python - Assault Dropship CPU: 257 / 276 PG: 508 / 551 Shield: 2571 HP Armor: 770 HP Shield Recharge Rate: 29.42 XT-1 Accelerated Missile Launcher (nose) Militia MT-1 Missile Launcher Militia MT-1 Missile Launcher Azeotropic Ward Shield Extender Azeotropic Ward Shield Extender 'Surge' Shield Reinforcement Ward Shield Regenerator Light IG-L Polarized Armor Regenerator Local Powergrid Expansion Unit Cost: 886,535 ISK
As you can see, I went with Caldari and Missile Launchers. Did I already mess up? Also so I know in the future what to stock up on, what is generally considered better for the missile launchers? On my assault I have the Accelerated since I figured high speed would be nice, but perhaps the fragmented with wider blast radius would be better. I'll try it for myself but would love some tips.
Also more in regards to the assault dropship, how do you guys aim these things? I'm trying to hit a stationary turret installation and having trouble. I tried cockpit view but honestly it's such a terrible view (was hoping for something similar to Battlefield) and you can't aim without nose diving to the ground. When I'm in third person it's tricky because when I use the right stick to aim up and down it reverts back to default as soon as I let go, is there a way to change this? Or should I be trying to aim by moving my ship a specific way?
On a separate note, I'm surprised by the general lack of skill point investment needed (seems to all be caught up in the ISK investment). I have 3.3M SP and it only took me 2M to get all that I got. So I have 1.3M left, but I don't really see anything that could make my dropships much better than where I got them. Is there something I'm missing?
And lastly any general |

Hi
I've noticed both don't have a shield booster. I've tried exactly what you're using, the armor repairer, and tbh, I prefer the shirld booster. Recharging full shields is a pain without a booster, and swarms get to do less damage to shields, so use shields to your advantage. For Eryx is best to have scattered blasters, it's easier for gunners to get kills. Try those power diagnostic systems, they boost your shields as well as PG.
Not sure which one is better, the active or the passive resistance module. Try both and see which one saves you more. For the assault have you tried a blaster in front? If it's too difficult to aim then I would use the fragmented missiles, the radius boost is nice and can get you kills. Maybe try the cycled missiles as well. It's nice to see a new pilot, it's too bad I spec'd outta dropships when Uprising hit. |

1. Generally the cycled missile launchers are easier to handle. Aim one time, shoot three times. For me this goes both for the assault drop ship and the side mounted guns. Blasters are good from a static platform, but static dropships die soon.
2. Standard procedure is to have a booster and as much shields as you can fit on caldari dropships. That means either three shield extenders or two extenders and an active hardener. I prefer the triple extenders as it's on active module less to operate.
3. You should try toying around with budget fittings. A Myron with advanced missile launchers goes around 400k ISK and does 90% of what a 1mil. ISK Eryx does. (Mostly get OHK by railgun-tanks and crash to the ground.)
4. Try out a jovian overdrive and see how it affects the handling.
5. If you can, fit powergrid diagnostics systems instead of powergrid extension modules for the shield capacity bonus.
6. Prepare for a lack of motivation in a few weeks. Try having a fun infantry-role by then or you might not continue to play a lot. |

fly cheap ( you will blow up-anyway) fly low (learn to fly like an LAV) take cover from installation turrets and know in advance where they are all located. have VOICE COM with you gunners have VOICE COM with friends on the ground.
like said before have a other secondary role on the ground and don't pop more than one dropship per game.
more important have fun! |

I thought you were talking about the stage where he realizes just how crap things are for dropships, gets really pissy about everything related to them, logs on to play dust, plays one match, loses a dropship, then rage quits and just stares at the tv for half an hour. Then lacks the motivation to even play dust again. It's a ****** stage but we all go through it. |
