How is this suit? Any opinions or feedback? I'm thinking of skilling into it.
Also, could the 25% clip increase potentially give me 4 Flaylock shots? |

Its similar to caldari but more speedy and less defensive. A shield recharger wouldn't be amiss. Its flat bonus to one armor repair per second is nice. I'm a former Mimnatar nova knife scouter who switched to Minmatar Assault after the current respect. Only did 10ish games so far, but here's my opinion vs the scout suit:
Pros
- Better tank...you can stay in fights longer. - Easier fitting. - With speed mods still quick enough. - Still decent stamina...as opposed to the logi (which is why I didn't go logi despite it's ok speed)
Cons
- Slower...yes, it's still quick, but I miss the crazy speeds sometimes. Tougher to dodge damage or make a run for it. - No nova knife damage bonus. - Larger hitbox.
Overall I still miss the speed and nova knife damage because I liked knifing. In the end I'm still going to max out scout and logi suits. Having said that, I'm glad I made the switch. In domination maps I am now more useful when my squad has to "bunker up" after taking objectives. I can stay in fights longer which is nice. If I speed fit the assault suit, I can still zoom around quickly like a scout...but I won't be using nova knives. Tried knifing, and while it's still ok, you do notice the difference in damage.
The Minmatar assault suit is probably the slowest suit I'd play apart from the Minmatar logi (which I'd speed fit most of the time).
Between the scout and assault it's just a different playstyle. With the scout you have to constantly flank and stalk your prey...you can't take on a ton head on. The only thing you can take head on is slow stuff like heavies if you're nova knifing...snipers and forge gunners too. When playing the assault you have more staying power. So if one guy comes at you, you can say "bring it" and battle it out easier. You don't have to be as careful when picking your targets, and a 2vs1 doesn't automatically result in your death.
Regarding Flaylocks, you can get 4 shots by training the ammo skill...it rounds it up. So no need for the Minmatar suit if that's your goal. It's a really nice bonus for SMG users though. You'll still be firing when they have to reload :D |

Best Swarm Launcher class dropsuit.
Proto gives you 5 high slots and two low. So you can pile the damage mods on. You also get way more rounds for the SMG, which gives you a ton of power against infantry (especially if you use those flux grenades).
I'm glad I made the switch.

I am having fun with it thats for sure. The only down side I am seeing is the lack of HP. I am stacking 4 complex sheild extenders and have my core skills to 5 on the %5 shield and armour core and have something like 435 shld/143 arm. It is like a little wrecking ball though that has the potntial to be hell on wheels (speed).
I had to stray away from the logi with at least 60% of the dust population going that route... I am also still messing with the fitting only sinking around 10 mil sp into it and saving 2.5 mil for tweeking, but as with all the suits, cp is a issue even at core skill 5. |

Oh I'm excited to post in this thread...
Before the respec I had gone into Gallente assault and specialized in armor tanking. I very quickly regretted it as heavies I was playing with were getting around just as quickly as I was. I felt like armor didn't really give me much advantages, or at least not enough to make up for the slower rep speed and movement gimp.
After talking with some friends yesterday about the options I figured between Caldari logi or Minmitar Assault... I went Minmitar assault. I've only played 4 matches in it so far but I'm enjoying it much more than I did the Gallente assault suit. It wasn't difficult to fit; with an enhanced CPU & PG mod I was able to fit my advanced and proto fits how I wanted (though I'd need proto CPU/PG mods to finish it, just not enough SP yet).
On the prototype suit I'm running 5 complex shield mods so my tank is pretty good, however my hybrid build I haven't tried yet is 3 complex shield & 2 complex dmg mods which I think will work out better. Generally sticking to the advanced suit since with the mods I can fit 3 complex shields, proto AR, proto uplink, toxin SMG & packed AV nades; which has been working out great.
It doesn't have the potential to reach a ridiculous EHP, even though my skills aren't maxed I believe I'm still around 600 or so. But hell.. that's still more than I had with armor tanking, recharging faster, and giving me 2 complex dmg mods.. so... YEAH! Can't wait to play it again.
Excited to get further spec'd into AV with all that dmg mod potential. |

I had to use a proto cpu mod as well. i have to tweek it a lil bit but I am running 4x complex shield extender, 1 enhanced sheild recharger and regulator and the cpu mod. GEK , proto smg, hives, packed av.
From a logical standpoint it was a tremendous step down from funning the caldari logi proto, but i had to get away from the hip crowd and go a diff path. I would like to see the % 's of what the population of dust is in regards to logi, assault, heavy, and scout.

I currently do not have high sp, but I do have the complex shield ext and there great, my ar is ok atm. I'm having a hard time choosing between cal logi or assault(equipment slots idc about), due to the fact that the assault may have 1 less high and low slot, which means less customization. But the assault auto is faster, has 30 more arm/shields, increased weapon reload, and more shield regen. On a logi I can make up for the hp with an extender and the regen with an extender, but that leaves me slower, with less hp or shield regen (one or the other) unless I want to sacrifice a dmg mod to use both, and less weapon reload speed. As an assault based player, I'm not sure the slots on logi does much more than make up for the losses. The up side of logi ofc is..auto arm repair, shield ext slightly more effective, and more customization options/with less need for core upg's. I do know however, even if I go proto logi, I will first get advanced assault. There is no doubt which adv suit is better, as far as i'm concerned, and the 500,000 sp for advanced suit is nothing compared to the 2,500,000 for the proto. So adv assault 1st, then i'm rlly not sure, anyone care to point out something i've missed or offer some input...it will be read and used accordingly... You all have a nice day =) |

I went from Gallante Scout to Mimitar Assault. I put an ehanced kin cat in my low slot, 2 complex and 1 enhanced shield in my high (currently just running advanced).
Its a major step up. I have all the speed (and more sprint speed) than the Gallante Scout with like twice as much eHp. I do notice the hit box though I get a lot less "whiz" of bullets in combat and more ouchies.
Ive also switched from TAR to SCR so theres a noticible decrease in my personal abilities, but the increase in the suits abilities is making the end result about even. Mimitar Assault + TAR is insane though cause you can just back up out of CQ while hipfiring and put people at that optimal murder range for TAR.
Once I learn to not try to charge-headshot everything with my SCR i think it will be almost as solid. The 1hp passive regain is nice too. I run a compact nano in my equipment to suppliment the armor recharge when I need it in an emergency. |

We should chat James. I've got Minmatar too. If you experiment, you can get the EHP to almost 750. (if you decide you want to just tank HP)
IMO, I picked this suit because it gives you the most flexibility. You can speed tank very well, you can Shield tanks very well, you can glass cannon with this suit, you can even make a decent 50/50 suit for shield and armor tanking. The std/adv suits are arguably a little weaker vs other races, but the proto is awesome. Many overlook it, because of it only having two low slots and less base HP. But it has a built-in 1HP repper, and faster speeds. Meaning, no NEED for a repper (yes I know 1HP is slow) and you can tank armor plates and still be a no slower than the other suits' default speed.
Edit: and can't forget that having 100 SMG rounds is awesome for those that love using SMGs. |

I've tested Swarm Launcher Operation skill (gives 10% Clip Size). The effect is rounded. At 3.4, my clip size was 3, at 3.6, my clip size went to 4. I've also tested Flaylock pistol with Minmatar Assault suit bonus. The effect is also rounded. At LVL3 skill 3.45, i still had clip size of 3. At LVL4 skill 3.6, clip size increased to 4.
As for the scrambler pistol: i have not tested that. However, %-based bonuses are usually applied before the plain-bonus. So it should be 6 * Skill Suit + Skill Operation 6 * 1.25 + 5 = 12.5
However, CCP is using "round-half-down" method (refer to post #115 here), so 12.5 becomes 12. Had it been 12.51, it would have become 13. |
