And CCP maybe will get more serious.
It's like if you hate a TV show but you keep looking at it. If people don't like the show, they stop watching it, and the show needs to change or to be canceled. So much simple.
Stop buying AUR, and "maybe" CCP will change and stop talking so "philosophically". Too much relativism, "soon", "maybe", "it could change", "we will tell you". That's caled "Don't take responsibility".
I have not problem with this, since I don't pay anything for play the game, and I like it. But no one can deny that, at least, the communication, is not serious.
Just saying, if you want to protest, stop giving them your money, you rich people.
Otherwise, keep accepting this kind of "development".
Welcome to New Eden.

Actually I like Dust alot, and I like to support CCP, CCP will learn over time to handle specific things better.
Stop spending Aurum on Dust, simply just kills Dust, because Nomoney=no devs=no game. And yes it is that simple.
If you like this game don't be a cheapfuck, dude I could spent 150 Gé¼ a month for other games, but I'd rather spent a small amount of this money on Dust and that's it, I have agame I like to play, and everybody is happy.
Dust is an everchanging project, nothing will ever be perfect, accept this or get out. All this crying on the forums is part of the community ans only shows you how much the people love this game.
If you love something, support it.
And just btw the AUR monkeys are actually paying so also you "smartasses" can enjoy this game, what about some thanks at this point? |

If you congratulate a child after he punched a girl, he will think that what he made, it was cool. Sorry, but I think you're wrong. If you support something without saying or making anything, you can't expect that it will change. It's stupid.
It's like if you have a junkie friend. Yes, you support him, and? What do you do? Anytime that he takes drugs, you will touch his back and tell him "I support you"? Next day, he will take x2.
Support him, but do something.

I would never spend money on a beta and I refuse to pay for jacked up regional pricing for virtual goods.
Most of all though, I'm not paying anything for a sub-par game, even one for free.
So I'm already of the OP's view and I'd hate to think how much CCP is losing on me. That's not even taking into account money lost by answering my dust support queries. |

well try it, but especially in the days we live in I don't believe any industry would produce a product which will not be bought in the near future. They simply would stop producing it.
I don't know if this would also happen to Dust, but I don't want to try it out. If you guys want to, fine, I'll wait hear to collect the tears, oh wait, the forums will also be gone then...... |

EVE generates more than enough money to fund both games so your plan kind of backfires there. If you think their progress seems kind of half-assed now, imagine how much worse it could get if nobody supported Dust at all. If you really want to put their balls in the vice, simply don't log in. Tranquility has been averaging ~6000/day, see how much they react once those projected numbers start to go in the red. Remember that mea culpa when they screwed the pooch on uprising? Server turnout wasn't as expected back then because they fixed things that weren't broken like aiming and nobody wanted to deal with it. |

I bought a merc pack and about $15 in aurum and I can honestly say I'm never spending another dime on this game. The whole waving around the idea of "play it your way" is ridiculously false. You either play it one of the two ways that work, or you feed the people that do. Uplinks glow in the dark from a mile out, needles are useless, and the ARs tear through anything that isn't an MCC. About 60 people are playing PC, and proto squads run all over the public matches like ants at a picnic. Of course, I bought a healthy supply of CCP's main product: hype, and that is entirely my fault. Guess what, CCP, I'm stocked up on hype now, but you'll find some other suckers who act on good faith, so, you don't need me anymore anyways, right? |

I would speculate that DUST is being created with a fairly limited budget by a team that is doing their first FPS shooter. Most of the lead developers came from the EVE team and are now leading a team in Shanghai. It's not like they are an experienced team rehashing an old shooter for the fifth time. Charging $60 for the same mechanic with slightly updated graphics.
After some quick Google research it looks like it costs at least $20 mil and up for a shooter but the big games are quickly going over $100 plus marketing.
http://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/4518/how-much-does-it-cost-to-produce-a-major-video-game
http://www.gamespot.com/news/bioshock-infinite-creative-director-denies-claims-game-cost-200-million-to-produce-and-market-6405761
I'd be surprised if CCP was able to spend over $20 mil for DUST but honestly have no idea how much was spent. Half of DUST development is integrated with EVE so its probably hard to figure anyway.
CCP also likes to release early and iterate based on user feedback. We could wait another two years for DUST to be released in a nice shiny state and it could be complete crap. Instead, they tried their best to get it into a fairly stable but minimal state and release it for feedback from their community.
I talk to developers. Anybody can talk them and get responses, especially if what you write to them is well written and constructive. I tell them what I'm not happy with and usually the answer is that they are not happy with the same thing and they are either working on it or having more important issues to resolve first. The want your feedback and will respond if you are not a jerk about it.
So, I will continue to spend money on this game. It not only has potential but I honestly enjoy playing the game every day. I like being part of something that is still growing and evolving. I like being able to affect the direction it is going by providing feedback. I like supporting developers that not only listen to me but take the time to respond when they aren't busting their asses trying to deliver. |

I don't think i'll be renewing any more boosters including the passive ones after this one. Certainly won't be buying aurum until things change.
I do think things will change. But the lack of transparency and the inability of CCP to communicate outside of the IRC channel and to us the players is awful. The CPM seem to be completely ineffectual and honestly this idea of a middle man between the devs and us seems ridiculous.
Just talk directly to us here on the forums.
Not to the CPM and then hope they will tell us what's going on. |
