There is no changem it's unreal 3, port it to unreal 4, run on ps4's open system. Done, simple. Didn't you know any pc game will run on PS4? it's a 1st for consoles. You're forgetting the problem of the PS3's "interesting" architecture, which means porting to Unreal 4 to run on the PS4 / PC is much less simple than you make it seem. 1) DUST isn't a PC game, though.
2) What Ryder said. The PS3's CPU architecture is unique to the system; the PS4 is moving to a traditional architecture. It's why there is no way the PS4 can have backwards compatability. If they develop DUST for the new console, it will have to be from the ground up.
3)They would be idiots to develop it on the PS4 using the ancient Unreal 3 engine, bringing me to my last point: Not only will CCP have to develop for new architecture, but they will also be building it with a brand new engine.
The point: That's a lot of changes to make for developing the same game, and CCP may not be willing to deal with that. Even though I'd love that. |

Everything built in UR3 will port to U4 just fine. It's the programming code only, and EVERYTHING that CCP does, is done in Python or a modified Python, so the code isn't as big a deal as you think. What it boils down to is that CCP has already said, they ARE NOT developing for the PS4, and that is all that they have said. Now we know that they will, eventually, but it will not be anything that will happen anytime soon. I would prefer that they do it quickly. Asuming the number of players keeps growing, the faster they port it to PS4, The better for everyone. |
