Dust 514: A subpar shooter wrapped in a fantastic rpg.
If they can ever get the shooter part down this will be a really cool game. |

Decision to release in this state will prolly triple the marketing budget requirements just to recover from the bad press.

It's not like they are all of a sudden stopping the rate at which they are developing and fixing things. Call it a beta or a released product or whatever you like, those are just words. The same things would be going on at CCP Shanghai either way. |

Called it the second they announced that Dust 514 is releasing in May.
And people called me crazy. Thought that this game is good and ready for release. 59 average on Metacritic, how about that? |

Um eve online didn't release with only missles and railguns and blasters.
It didn't release without a way to trade with each other
It didn't get massive sweeping changes to it's skill system, that's what they used the beta phase for.
Eve online wasn't released with only caldari stations
Eve online wasn't released with 30 years of skills to train *it was released with 4 dispute having more content than dust*
eve online didn't show trailers for PvE as a core feature of the game that you should buy it for, and then not have Pve at release.
eve onine didn't have only caldari and gallente battleships at release
Dust is still in beta hardcore |

During the EVE beta did you have to pay for a subscription? Did all your skills transfer to the release? Did the beta roll straight into the release with no days of waiting in between?
Think about what beta really meant in Dust 514. And think about what release means for Dust 514. They are just words. The game released on January 10th, 2013 as far as I'm concerned. Nothing new happened on May 14th except 3 new weapons and PC. Stuff like that is going to be releasing all the time. Next time Dust updates should we call it "Dust 514 2"? You see what I'm getting at? |

The funny thing is that all of you will still be hear next, and probably still be complaining.
After 5 years of EVE, I know that CCP might **** up from time to time, but unlike some other developers, they actually want to fix things.
It's also important to keep in mind that those advisories they put up about EVE backend issues? That same data was being used for the rebalance in Uprising as well. So if they were getting bad metrics from EVE, how do you think a shitload of bad weapon usage data impacted this last build?
There's a lot of stuff they're working to fix right now, but it will get fixed. |

Deciding to release on 5/14 was a completely stupid decision, and whoever made it is literally the most incompetent person I have ever had the displeasure to feel the effect of. It was clearly done just to get some 'good press' for releasing on the date of its title. Well, look what happened. Damage bordering on irreparable. |

As a new player I can't help but agree with most of the negative reviews.
It looks about the same graphically as any other up to date fps but it feels so clunky. The fact that it's about a week from release and I already feel burnt out. Bashing my head against those who got to keep all the money and skill points from beta. When does that normally happen?
Knowing the maps, weapons and armour should have been advantage enough. Now some of you brag to have upward of 200 million Isk and a few milion in skill points.
After reading the reviews before the game was released I expected a lot more than another bog standard fps with pay to win and preferential treatment to beta testers. |
