Sensitivity is still extremely poor even with a high dpi mouse. X and y axis have different rates. Feels liked still has negative acceleration....
Any other kbm guys still on the benches? |

I hooked up my keyboard and mouse for the first time today, and hopped into an Ambush match. I went 0-4. The mouse control is broken. At least no one has to worry about it becoming unbalanced. |

Horrible experiance for me too. Maxed out the mouse, ps3 and the in game settings. Turning is super slow still. Gonna try another mouse with 11400 dpi and see how that works. |

Let me know. I'll buy a new mode if it helps.
Currently using a rat 7. I'm pretty sure it doesn't get too much better than that though. |

Doubt they'll fix the kn/m any time soon, the patch earlier this week made it even worse than before.
It used to be you could set sensitivity to 100% and actually get non-sluggish movement, it was a bit too jerky but way better than 90% and below. Now they nerfed it down to barely better than the 90% setting. Glad I can mess with the dpi on my mouse on the fly because that's the only way i can play now. |

I have the rat 7 as well. Gonna buy a steelseries sensei and see if that helps at all. Keeping my fingers crossed for that one to work |

Funnily enough, I use a standard three button mouse off a Lenovo Eco and don't have what I would call significant issues with turning and accuracy. Maybe it's really only a problem with variable DPI mice? |

I have a Logitech G700 and don't have too much of a problem since the hotfix ... 100% sensitivity was borked before, 80/90 worked better and my dpi around 2-3000 is about right with mouse smoothing on I think (I'd have to check).
The weapon select radial is still tricky but motion works when lag allows.
Edited: G700 has macro keys too and multi profiles switchable on the fly, good software too. |

Plugged in a Microsoft arc mouse. The folding one. Game got almost payable. What gives?
The gun selector wheel became almost impossible to use unlike with the rat 7. |

Doing it wrong folks.
Right now the game uses a ******** virtual analog stick emulator for the mouse. So if you have a higher DPI you're going to be hitting the edge of the virtual analog plane faster and causing insane acceleration.
What you want to do is use lower DPI with higher in-game sensitivity. |

I'm using a rat 7 also.
Side to side feels a little sluggish but up-down feels like dragging a weight around.
When Issuing squad orders and selecting equipment (4 equip slots) it is next to impossible to hit the middle icons. I've been shot countless time while just trying to select a damn Defend order (only to have it give an invalid target error because the player is beyond some arbitrary boundary) |

When you guys use the RAT 7, what do you have your DPI selector at?
The character turns insanely slow the less lights I have on. So I have to play at 4. But even that is way to slow. I'm a bit confused as to why the Microsoft Arc Touch I use is so much quicker? It is almost playable. Tough mouse to use for gaming though.
Maybe the RAT 7 has a prob/isn't quite supported as expected? |

I go over to my friend's house occasionally and watch her go 30+/0 with a mouse. It seems that whatever the error is is very inconsistent as far as how it manifests for each player. |

For those of you who seem to find that the sensitivity is ok. What kind of mouse are you using? I was thinking to hit the local computer store and try buying something a little more easy to hold on to than the ARC mouse for gaming. I'm just afraid of buying something that will turn out like my RAT 7.

I still have serious issues trying to get a nanohive out, i just cant select a damn thing and aiming is horrible.
Just came back from some PC FPS game and holy damn what a diffrence, drop-headshotted a guy who ambushed me in War Z after a 180 degree turn while dropping with a single shot.
Instantly got me reported as a hacker there :p
If i can hit something in Dust, its 20% skill / 80% pure luck. |

I seem to have solved my turning issue. I use an eagle eye set up for my mouse and keyboard and what i did was set up my mouse (rat 7) with 4 different DPI sertings. The 4th light being 6400. Injacked up the sensitivity in game and on the ps3, but most importantly i jacked up the sensitivity on the eagle eye advanced calibration. I maxed out the X and Y. When i got into the game the turning and aiming were insanely fast. I then set my mouse to the lowest dpi setting i have set up (i think around 3500-4000) and lowered the sensitivity in game to about 50. So far its working like a champ. Im just going to fine tune the sensitivity in game til i fins something right. So just max out the sensitivity on your eagle eye if your using one. Works great now |

The mouse control IS, in fact, pretty broken right now (though not as bad as it's' been in the past). That said, there ARE some things you can do to fix it that work around long-standing bugs in the game.
First and foremost you need to know that the DS3 Controller settings in Dust 514 affect the mouse and keyboard. This includes the sensitivities, aim assist, and inversion. So your first step needs to be cranking all of these sensitivites up to max, disabling (the broken) aim assist, and making sure nothing's inverted.
Next, the PS3 settings itself still play a part as well, so go to Settings -> Accessory Settings -> Pointer Speed, and set it to "fast" on the XMB.
Finally, make sure you disable mouse smoothing in the keyboard and mouse settings in Dust.
I use a Logitech G500, and with the on-mouse DPI set to fastest it's definitely usable and far better than a controller, though still not up to par with how a mouse should behave. Knock it down to 2 if you've got an enemy sniper that thinks he's got a really clever position and need the extra precision to zero in on his stationary head.
All this said, stationary turrets are still unusable, and vehicle-mounted turrets are less-than-stellar (not a big deal on a tank, whether as driver or gunner, but on a LAV it's impossible to hit anything while moving, never mind an enemy LAV.)
Hope this helps my fellow mouse users. |

I set the pointer speed thing in the PS3 settings but it didn't help the RAT 7 at all.
I just went to the store and bought some Zalman M400 mouse for $25 I believe.
Has a 800/1200/1600 DPI setting. This is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the RAT 7 on the PS3. The mouse itself is pretty comfortable although it is too light. I like the weight of the RAT. At least DUST is becoming playable again.... So in the meantime all the RAT guys that are having issues, try the ZALMAN for now. Maybe other version of the RAT, like the RAT 9 or maybe the more basic versions of the RAT would work closer to the ZALMAN with a bit more weight I'm not sure.
Hopefully some one can chime in. At least I know what I'll be doing tonight. I think the X/Y Axis is still messed but this is light years ahead of the RAT 7 so far. Report more as I go. |

CYBORG brand products, like the RAT (and the RAT7 especially) are notorious for not working well, if at all, on anything but windows. They don't properly follow HID standards and depend heavily on their custom Windows drivers and softare configuration. You want a headache, try just getting the RAT7 to work in Linux at all, never mind any of the fancy features on it.
Logitech is one of those companies you really can't go wrong with for keyboards, mice, joysticks, and headsets (your core peripherals for computers of any type.) They're high quality, reliable, durable, and follow all HID standards. They tend to work wonderfully out of the box on pretty much anything, and it's not even hard to get their more advanced stuff working on non-Windows operating systems (though obviously you won't be able to use that stuff on the PS3, since you don't get any special software, just the basis HID drivers.) |

The issues with kbm are making me want to shoot myself in the face. I don't suck at FPS, no it as bad as these controls make me feel. Oh well, I can always walk away and earn passive sp while CCP ignores the issue. |

If I set both the controller sensitivities and the mouse sensitivity to max I can "snap" a heavy 180 degrees with about a 6" swipe. I use a Sidewinder X8 mouse and I have it maxed @ 4000 dpi. I cannot say if that's good or bad since I've never been a technical FPS player but it does feel like a huge movement for a 180 degree turn.
I'm a little less concerned with dialing in the mouse movement as I am about keyboard mapping. The equipment and squad selection menu is horrendous with a mouse. I sometimes have to fiddle for 15-20 seconds just to dump a nanohive. That is horribly broken. Just let me assign equipment slots and squad commands to hotkeys already! |

I've started a thread for us to compile a list of Mice that work well in Dust 514 and provide some information about just how to configure them and how they behave when configured that way. Thought it might prove helpful to other people that either don't have a mouse but want to get one, or have a mouse they are looking to replace due to poor performance on Dust.
