Title pretty much says it all. What is the point?
In my mind I would be zipping around going from point to point hacking as you please. And honestly I was able to do that just fine, that being said I don't see a difference in real speed between the free LAV and Scout.
I have a speed booster on it but still, it honestly doesn't feel fast. I know the Logi at least can take a beating. |

well technically if you had both scout lav and logi lav skills up the the scout skill will apply to ur logi lav and all other lavs in genaral
is that right?? |

With some good driver/gunner communication, the SLAV is as close as you can really get to vehicular combat similar to Halo at the moment. The extra turret turn speed makes for easier strafing and out maneuvering targets like rail tanks and other LAVs. Missile turrets could use a little more blast radius to make this kind of tactic viable, but rail turrets make excellent rail tank killers. Kind of a high risk. high reward style of combat and like anything having to do with scouts, it's not for the lighthearted.
If anything, the SLAV should have gotten EWAR related bonuses similar to the Gallente scout and probably a built in active scanner. It would have made the SLAV a good tandem for enforcer tanks by spotting targets. |

I like the idea of SLAV getting built in active scanners. That would be sweet to just plow through a likely enemy hotspot, hit your scanner, and light up everyone on the map real fast so your team can get a quick chevron count, not to mention big support for tanks and assault dropships seeking ground targets they can't spot behind cover areas themselves. You know... like a recon SCOUT. |

No. Just like having Minmatar Assault and Minmatar Logistics trained doesn't give the Logistics bonuses to the Assault suit. |

From my Experience driving LAVs, this actually seems very useful as far as speed. You usually don't have time to reach the top speed, so acceleration counts. |

Oh don't get me wrong, put a Jovian on and that thing flies, it's pretty fun to drive. But right now with it low health that makes an extender a must have, and the fact that you want at least one active Tank module means the thing is impossible to fit as a scout and still be expected to survive light AV fire. A built in active scanner would solve the problem nicely, help it fulfill its role, help it survive and make the thing actually useful. Right now I can fit a saga that has decent acceleration(thank you jovians), the same top speed, better survivability and can do a better job as a scout vehicle because I can fit an active scanner on it. |
