2. Why did they instead go with the Corp system of random recruiting across all races, further muddying the water when it came to character motivation by removing it from lore and making loyalty ad hoc?
3. Why didn't they then focus upon providing all the races with suits of all makes, even if they had to at first be statistically identical, then later shade in the racial differences?
4. Why did they choose to make such a cryptic mix of weapons that do largely the same thing, instead of (as in my upper example) releasing racially stylized (and racially exclusive) but statistically identical general weapons and then gradually roll out more statistical complexity as the game gained size, speed, and subscriber base?
5. Why Militia gear at all, instead of simply low-end racially-identified gear? 1. The initial storylines are ultimately arbitrary for a DUST merc. The whole idea is that the universe wants to shoot you and there are people willing to pay you to shoot at someone else. Whether or not you choose to discriminate your fire is a personal choice.
2. Because DUST clones don't belong to any of the empires. They've all been officially disowned by there respective peoples.
3. This answer's got two parts. First: Not all the models are done yet. As far as I know, there's only about seventy people on the CCP Shanghai team, which doesn't leave a lot of resources to dedicate to artistic development. Second: Each races weapons will likely end up functioning drastically different from one another, it would suck for people who took one weapon for it's looks and then got screwed over because the weapon developed in the opposite direction of their playstyle.
4. Uhm... the weapons all behave very differently as far as I can tell, so I don't know where you're going with this. And I don't know how you could ever classify a selection of weapons as 'cryptic.' Some clarification there would be appreciated.
5. We'll likely get racial militia gear as assets for it are completed, but the art team is the bottleneck for that. |
