you would think so... but not according to CCP it seems
I've lost count of the number of times (Usually the 1st spawn in a match) 3 of my squadmates will spawn together and I for some reason spwan on the opposite side of the map ( No exageration ) and it takes me 30 seconds or so to regroup. |

Spawn within proximity of my squad? I'm lucky to spawn without being surrounded by the enemy. |

Maybe and maybe not. A fellow with a drop uplink could make a good placement just because he was not with the squad, though that is more the exception than the rule. But we are kinda jumping from orbit, its not unreasonable to think that someone tripped or just didn't jump at the right second and ended up separated from the group.
I get what your saying and generally agree, especially when it lead you to be spawning with some red dots surrounding you. |

I like how this thread only has one mention of Drop Uplinks and it doesn''t just say.....
If you're squadded and you know it, drop a link? If you're squadded, need to spawn, drop a link? If you're squadded and you know it and you really want to blow it if your're squadded and you know it, forget your link. |

Unless you know of a way to drop an uplink before the 1st spawn. |

Oh, the first spawn I usually either spawn as something cheap or as a Shotgun Scout so when I discover I am surrounded I can just go to town. The initial spawn points are terrible, I'm just glad I'm not spawned out deep in the red line anymore. |

If your talking about Ambush, yeah I would agree with that. However, other game modes have multiple spawns and squads can coordinate a spawn point via communications. If you suggesting some kind of squad leader spawn I think that would deter from the flow of the game, remember BF2. Plus, squads can rally on drop uplinks. Altogether, I think the spawning system is great, if players with mics don't communicate their spawn location that is on them.
Also in ambush you can have one person in the squad with a uplink spawn first and find a good spawn point, than everyone can drop in after that. Consider it like the pathfinders from ww2 setting up dz's for airborne drops. |

Squad spawn is nice in some games, but wouldn't work for Dust 514. That said, I have a couple suggestions:
1. Let the squad leader mark a specific spawn as the desired squad spawn. You can still spawn anywhere you want, but you get war points for spawning on the designated spawn. It would really help if we had access to the map during the war barge so we can get this stuff ready before hand.
2. You know that "defend order" you can place on a squad member? Have it default on the squad leader. Extend the range a little bit and remove any bonus points for the squad leader (defending yourself shouldn't award extra points). Everyone within range will get the extra points, and the squad leader would still be able to set other Squad Objectives such as rally, capture, attack, etc. |

We've gotten into the habit of calling the squad member that spawns in the midst of enemies, "The Sacrificial Lamb".

Yes, we should. I wonder if it'd be bad if we could spawn on living squad mates, or at least the squad leader as well...? |
