Lol. And to keep them out of Academy.
If you're giving them 2m, is that a level that CCP thinks is reasonable to be competitive or is it part of the story that they're gimped? |

Cmdr wang there is 300 of them everyone will be trying to kill them and you give them 2 mil so. do this instead. Give them proto smart suits ( both types ) all proto modules , proton equipment , proto scr and scp ( for amarr theme ). Leave them at that ( include max fitting and grenade skills too ) no one will play after they fill their minimum requirement. Also make all templars be in the same chat channel so they can organize. Really good idea but not fully formed. tldr : all ready come with max skills for any proto fit of any amarr type suit also includes max fitting and proton nades. There is only 300 of them steady make them tough and give people a reason to play past minimum requirement. Same chat channel for all templars to organize. They all survive better then and are grouped up so easier for people to kill three. |

"YouGÇÖll also be the first to test-drive three upcoming Amarr Templar Dropsuits and three Amarr Templar weapons, all of which are exclusive to the EVE Online-« Second Decade CollectorGÇÖs Edition. "
I thought the Second Decade set was going to be standard?
i thought the suits were adverted as ADV suits in the forum postings about the event? or are they just the advanced 'tier' being logistics, assault, and sentinel?
so i am confus...
and yeah... the 100 new-berries from playstation should probably get more than 2m SP to allow them to be competitive... even against others with the same SP level, they have zero experience in dust and or with fittings... someone might want to consider sending them fliers on 'this is how you play'...
not to mention even the vet players should probably get more than 2m SP... since they will likely be downgrading from more advanced characters if theyve been around since fanfests triple xp week... leaves VERY little reason to continue playing beyond the minimum requirement of matches... unless theres some hidden kicker for those who perform well, bonus loot for those who get good KDR, or good scores... at bare minimum a leaderboard posted after the event with the main character listed so people can say 'im Amarr Templar Schmuckatelli, and i was awesome!' |

With 2 million skill points they can specialize into their given dropsuits and weapons and be competitive. We really don't want to give out over powered characters for this event, and prefer that the Templars play mainly as infantry. |

Understood. I still think they will be very underpowered given Everyone will be gunning for them. I understand your logic just disagree with the numbers going on what I see in game. given I'm at 7 mill and still have a hard time. Then again I don't no what the new suits are like :-).
Time will tell I guess :-) |

I think they should go infantry, but that they should also have lots of gear. I would recommend this resolution: Give them 10 mil SP's, but also give them a bunch of proto infantry gear (aside from the stuff you're already planning to give them). That way they'll be led into infantry because they won't start with the isk for vehicles.
Won't stop vehicles, but it will be an incentive. |

This amuses me.. I have a character with ADV turrets in a Gunnlogi, and good fittings, and she only spent 1.3 of her 1.8 million SP..
I really hope I see some Tank-Templars! If I had a free character slot, I'd have been one of them.. Sadly, I dont. >_< |

Well Templars are amarrian elite soldiers right? Kind of like Crusaders?
Infantry for the win....no one wants to see the glourious fighters of the amarrian empire hiding themselves away instead of running around with all that swag! |

If there pre loaded with only amar infantry stuff they will only be infantry. Also why don't you want them to be over powered there is only 300 of them?
I understand why you probably cant do more then 2mil sp because you want them to infantry only. |

Considering they are using an empty character slot to implement these Templars... I don't think they will be as viable as you think they will be. They will probably have all their skills decided beforehand, which is why the whole 20,000 SP during the campaign is a goal. |

I just don't think they should be made weak. If them skilling into tanks is the concern, then as I mentioned give them a bunch of other infantry proto gear so that they have a *very* strong incentive to not skill into vehicles.
Are the templars meant to be skilled soldiers? Are they meant to be well equipped? Could we please make this realistic?
Besides, worst case, if someone does go as a templar in a tank, I'm pretty sure people will try very hard to kill him. |

if the lore behind them is that they were first gen troopers... shouldnt they have a TON of practical combat experience and be prettymuch badasses if they think they can take on the world?
and the number 300... Spartan 300? im just sayin i think they should be super elite troopers. perhaps for future events, give them premade skillsets based on the lore you want them to have? if you dont want them being vehicle users/abusers, give them infantry skillsets. or disable their option for buying market assets and force them to use a lineup of bpo event suits and equipment. since there is no trading and the characters set to be deleted after the event, its not like these could possibly leak to the general public.
and as for giving out over powered characters, theyre all getting deleted afterwards anyways right? so whats a weekend long event of a SMALL fraction of the playerbase really going to do beyond add one more protofit to the fields full of beta player protofits...
this post from CCP has me feeling that there is a serious misconception about the current state of DUST....
giving 2m SP to a new player may be over powered compared to what theyre used to, but they will be competing against MANY players with 6m+ SP, and being singled out in EVERY battle they play... giving 2m SP to a beta player is gimping them down for as many rounds as it takes them to get the matches and WarPoints to qualify for their rewards, and they will return to their main characters loaded with proto gear for the remainder of the weekend limiting how many people get the hunting payouts...
*EDIT* and how much isk do they spawn with? because if they dont start with a sizable sum of isk to support their intended losses, how are they going to be expected to afford tanks... your going to see them in free LAVs going for roadkills rather than try to actually use weapons or expensive suits... |

CCP Cmdr Wang wrote:Hi all, here's some clarification about the Templar Manhunt event.
1. You will receive 2.5 million ISK for scoring 3 Templar kills during the event (not per match). Killing more than 3 Templars during the event period does not result in more ISK rewards.
2. Templar characters will have 2 million skill points to be distributed by players who receive them. You decide what skills your Templar will have, so choose wisely.
3. You may allocate skill points earned by your Templar from the public matches during the event.
4. You must play at least 20 public matches and earn a total of 20,000 War Points during the 3 day event as the Templar in order to qualify for the Templar reward. Matches played without the Templar character and/or without the Templar dropsuit equipped will not count towards the reward requirement!
5. As the Templar, you are only allowed to play in public matches and cannot join a player corporation. Violation of these rules will result in a disqualification to receive the Templar rewards.
6. The Templar characters will be removed from your account after the event is over (during DT on June 3rd).
7. The Templar characters will be seeded into your DUST 514 account during DT on May 31st. We will publish a list of players chosen to be Templars by Thursday, May 30th.
8. As part of our partnership with Sony, we are alloting 100 Templar characters to Sony community members to participate in this event and to promote DUSt 514.
We are encouraged by the interest shown from the community in this event, and will be planning more fun events in the near future!
So there goes 100 templar suits to Sony community members, whoever they are.
And where is the list? |

locked and drawing, with no information about the names drawn...
*EDIT*
took a quick look, no forum threads with the names either, checking devblogs next
*EDIT2*
no dev blog posts, no press release about it, no details that they had said would be announced... way to keep things cloak and dagger for no apparent CCP...
i guess we shall see come tommorow morning at downtime who got them. wonder how many people signed up and quit playing before this event went live...

Sorry man, you're wrong.
I don't know where you got 2 million SP from but that's not enough to be competitive. Ironically, that would be enough to run a tank fit that would increase their survivability considerably. |
