I would like to start off by saying to CCP and the player base that I am a fan of CCP. I play EVE. I love EVE. and I love CCP. That being said I have been in this game for almost a year now. since the beta and now in the "full build"
A little background on me. I am a logi, have been for a while and I love it. and I can't do it anymore. No one can.
I am second in command of the corporation "Nova Corps Marines" and act as the Director of Recruitment.
I loved the concept of this game, I loved the thought of seeing New Eden through a new lens, and quite frankly, I'm tired of it. CCP I have stood by this game, gone to personal friends to bring them in, and ranted to anyone who would listen that this game would change the face of console gaming and the FPS genre in general. You have made a liar of me CCP. I don't appreciate that. With the Uprising launch (premature in my opinion) every single bit of diversity this game had died. As of now there is only one viable play style in this game. Medium frames (assault variants if specialized) with assault rifles. Heavys are not viable due to the speed issues and the tactical AR's eating through them like candy. Scouts are not viable for similar reasons. As a logi I scream at everyone who will listen that logi's are not viable because I CANNOT keep everyone healed, rezzed, and stocked with ammo. period. I cannot be a viable piece of combat because of how squishy I am I cannot be up close, but I have to be close to the action to keep people healed and so I need a mid range weapon. There are only two weapons that do this. The mass driver and the tactical AR. The Mass Driver is not usable in its current state in my opinion and the Tactical AR is about to get nerfed to all hell and so it is almost not viable.
This game lured me in with its promises of diversity, and roles, and a promise of something better than just the standard pew pew of every other bloody FPS in the damn world. and it isn't bloody there.
I love you CCP. I do. and when I saw the fanfest streams about DUST 514 my "nerdboner" as CCP Helmer put it was raging.
and then Uprising hit. I ceased being able to logi. I ceased being able to use a mass driver. I lost half of the things I had due to the skill changes.
Long story short this game isn't fun anymore. And that makes me sad. because I love this game. I love CCP. I love New Eden.
but...DUST...DUST just isn't fun anymore...
and so I ask CCP, the CPM, and anyone who might be able to answer this question that no one else can seem to.
When will this game be fun again?
When will I have a place in this game again?
When will anyone not running assault suits and AR's have a place in this game again?
Why is all of the content promised during Chromosome and before not here?
These are the big questions I have. CCP needs to do nothing but look at the member count per day to realize how much they have lost. CCP Helmer teased us with the thought of opening the door at fanfest, I laughed because it was funny.
But in reality. Where in the hell are the promises that CCP gave us during Chromosome and before, the teases about PVE and MTAC's and other things.
Where is the fun CCP?
Where is the "Sandbox" that was lauded and held on a pedestal at Fanfest?
Where is the Sandbox CCP? |

Just because they promised content was coming didn't mean it was coming "soon". MTAC's are the first expansion. We don't know when that is. All the stuff they talked about is coming. We just don't know when. Which is part of their problem. They announce things too early. |

Yeah we need to.
So many things are missing and a lot of mistakes need fixes.
But i am also thinking ''where did the fun go'' ?
Also i have a few more questions:
Why is it that we have a Minmatar HMG but no Minmatar heavy suit ?
Why would Minmatar even make a weapon only there enemy (Amar) can use ?
Why is it that Caldari have a heavy forge gun but no heavy suit ?
Why does Amar have a heavy suit but no heavy weapon ?
Why does a Minmatar scuot have a bonus to nova knives ? ( nova knives are Caldari weapons )
Why dont Caldari have a scout suit ?
Why dont Amar have a scout suit ?
Why is it that only Gallante and Caldari have LAV's, HAV's and DS's ?
Why is that most bonuses in the proto suits dont fit the race ?
why are some of the bonuses in the proto suits USELESS ? (Caldari assault bonus: 2% bonus to hybrid weapon reload speed) LOL and its not even per level. Who came op whit that idea ?
Why dont we have the sandbox ?
Did the once that made this EVER play EVE ? (I really wonder)
I cuuld go on for miles about thing that are missing and mistakes they made, and bugs they need to fix.
WHY CALL THIS A FULL GAME ??? |

CCP planned three expansions (or four) every year for DUST...
"PSU" wrote:(...)DUST 514 is a game that has a long roadmap ahead of it. CCP clearly stated its content plan for the next five years or so during the Advancing the Core presentation and the CCP Presents! Keynote at this yearGÇÖs EVE FanFest. DUST gamers will have the same persistent soldier they created upon entry as time goes on and the game gets bigger and deeper. CCP will be releasing three or four free major updates a year, adding new features, game modes,weapon/vehicle/armour/equipment variations, new class roles and vehicles types plus much more. They have loads of ISK (Icelandic Kr+¦na ) form EVE subscriptions and AUR sales to support this... This game will get better and better no matter how much you will rant...

CCP has already stated once that EVE, if released in today's gamers market, would NEVER have survived. The game was too broken and needed constant fixing and took constant effort and pursuit of progress on the Dev's part to turn it into the game it is today. People today are much less willing to wait and adapt and try new things with their games. I can't remember the interview this came from but I could try and find sometime.
DUST will suffer the same pains, but under the scrutiny of the modern gaming market, and with FPStards (not really meant offensively so don't take it as such) ranting and raving about this and that (just look at all the _____ is OP nerf it and buff my pistol) threads. In time the game will slowly approach a more balanced and complete profile. As it is now, CCP is making large changes in order to try and balance, whereas in the future, the tiniest changes they make are all that will be necessary to bring one weapon up to snuff or put it back in line, where it belongs.
If you don't find the game to be fun, put it down for some time. Your character will gain Skill points while you wait and you'll have a huge pool to come back to a few expansions later. The game is going to be rough for a year or two, and it's going to cause some heartaches and pains, but it's gonna get better. |

I really think a large portion of the "not fun anymore" feeling is caused by the holes in the overall gameplay.
In the last build many of us found great enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment using the ISK sink that was Corporation Battles. We could put up a contract or take one and put our money where our mouths are. If we won it was a great feeling of accomplishment (especially if that Corp was "higher ranked" than us). If we lost we felt like someone kicked our kitten and we found ways to improve so the next time we could give them hell. Planetary Conquest was supposed to fill that role, and I'm sure it does to a point, but the problem with PC is that it is not for everyone (and that is great and how it should be). It is a mode where the best tactic is not necessarily to hold objectives for the win (kills off the MCC too quickly and that is bad for the attacker) but instead the attackers best tactic is to kill as many closes as possible rinse and repeat. PC is the corner of the sandbox where the big kids have their G.I. Joes, Transformers, and He-Men fighting "epic" battles while the rest of the sandbox is vastly undefined. You can dig and play in it but after a while you realize that there is nothing special except for the occasional "Gritty Kitty Surprise". Many of the mid-level corps are missing that little bit of excitement that we had and we don't really have a place to get better like we did in the last build.
Factional Warfare is a Role Players game that is just a glorified Skirmish with little to no added benefit to get involved in. It has longer wait times than skirmish, practically the same payouts as skirmish, and loot is no different. Why should a mid-sized corporation waste their time in it? So that leaves Pub matches....very fulfilling for a Mid-Sized tactical minded corporation (sarcasm).
The lack of balanced racial variation is another issue that many are having. I run a Heavy and I've seen all the other frames get goodies over the course of this game's development. What did we get? A game crippling nerf that sent all but the dedicated into the ranks of the medium frames (I'm fine with that to a point as well). CCP quickly dealt with that problem and we a thankful for that, but were is the love for Heavies and Lights? We want more than we seem to be getting and after a year SOONGäó is losing it's luster. There are huge holes in balance and counters that these missing suits, vehicles, and weapons are causing (see the TAC AR argument).
When they do add the rest of the content will we have to petition for another respect to get to our preferred weapons/suits? And IF CCP fills these holes in waves will we have to petition every time a new hole is filled? Does anyone else see how idiotic this can get and how frustrating for the gamer it will be? Get us the content in one lump and not SOONGäó but by E3. AS the beta has shown it all can not be tested and balanced properly until the cloned populace gets their augmented gloves on them to show where the problems lie. This is an FPS and portions of the EVE mentality do not translate well....yet.
I for one have faith that CCP is working on improvements and that the game will be fun again, but sooner is better than the current not fully known course for much of these issues. Three months is too long and six is even worse. The gimmick of 5/14 full release with no advertising was just one more bad decision in the development of this game especially with these huge holes that NEEDGäó filling.

I understand that everything is coming "SOON" but honestly. The reason I got into this game was A. I love EVE and CCP and figured anything they touched was going to be amazing. and B that this game had came with a promise that tactics, teamwork, and actual planning could and would trump flat out KDR.
And now the only mechanic that is different that the redundant and cookie cutter pub matches is the planetary conquest match which is nothing but straight KDR. I RP in EVE and wanted dearly to be able to do it in DUST as well but there isn't any opportunity to do it at all outside of the FW matches that give me no tangible benefit other than bragging rights which amount to jack squat at the end of the day.
I understand that everything is coming "SOON" but it has been coming "SOON" for almost a year now. And if someone like me who is a dedicated CCP fan and loyalist is getting tired I can only imagine what the run of the mill (Insert FPS name in here) player is thinking. |

Well, sure. For the past year though it's been in a beta. They need to get the "core" aspects right. Games that are MP focused, almost, always release bare bones. Some of the info we know is because people have been talking to CCP in IRC chats and posting the info on the forums. Which is totally lame. I agree it has been "SOON" for a long time, now. Which is part of the problem. Info gets out when it isn't supposed to and info gets announced long before it needs to. But, if info isn't announced, people flip a ***** and don't stop complaining. Either way things feel like they take forever.
And, well, CCP is a slow company. Aren't just only now releasing a warpgate animation 10 years after EVE came out? Pure insanity. I mean, Freelancer had that stuff. All of what they have talked about will be on its way within the first year of launch. So, yeah. All that can be said, to be honest. |

I understand that CCP is a "Slow" company, and I many respects I am grateful for that. It allows their products to be neigh on perfect when released. The problem comes when they are "released" and yet they are seemingly not complete. I just....I had such high hopes watching the fanfest stream. I literally jumped out of my seat and screamed "YYYEEEESSSSS!!!!" when it was announced that UVT's were being taken out of the game. What I don't understand is that they promised us a sandbox from the get go and promised it again at fanfest, and I'm sorry CCP....but I just don't see it... |

After reading all of the arguments and counter-arguments present in this thread, I believe the central problem here to be that CCP has succeeded in their fundamental goal. They have created a persistent free-to-play mmofps. We want to keep coming back and play this game everyday for long periods of time each sitting, we constantly want "more." This persistence is at the root of our frustration because DUST does not give us the feel of a "pick up and play" game; however, we understand that the core of the game, the complete set of racial dropsuits and racial AR's (the assault rifle is the gun at the heart of any fps), is not yet complete.
With the game already being persistent, yet still missing some core elements, we are left feeling somewhat empty. The community and CCP's timetables are currently out of line with one-another. Our perspectives of the word "soon" seem to be vastly different which only adds to the frustration.
In turn, I would ask that CCP at least give us a general timeline of months that we can expect further content. Give us your perspective of the word "soon" so that our timetables can be relative to one-another's. This, I feel, will greatly help to mediate the currently levels of frustration seen in this game. |

Chromosome had a more polished gameplay. I agree with the original post that assault rifles are now the the elite guns but in chromosome build you could effectively use most guns. As for people saying that assault rifles are the backbone of any FPS, is strongly disagree. It's called a first person shooter and not first person assault rifles. Furthermore CCP states that this if future warfare yet these relics seem to be the most powerful weapons, even when you have things like plasma cannons and a gun that supposedly shoots grenades (MD) which is supposed to blow you up but doesn't. All in all CCP took a huge step back when they felt the need to change and Nerf weapons to the point of creating garbage. I don't know what to think anymore, maybe they are trying to tailor the game at major fps players to make it a more economically sound investment but if that's the case then CCP will remain a seasonal game that people play in between major FPS releases and die out in a few years which I hope does not happen. |

And all of this will take time. CCP has said a lot of things about this game. They have a habit of saying stuff. It also depends on what they think a "sandbox" is. |
