Ill take a balanced game with good gunplay based on skill based percise weapons over spray and pray any day. Halo-esque gameplay is a compliment, not an insult. You can tell who is the better player when weapons require aim and are on even footing.
The days of "oh I am safe with my lazer because I have sharpshooter and nobody can get near me" are over. Now it comes down to players on relatively even footing fighting each other, and thats awesome.
I love the folks who claim TAR takes no skill, what guns DO take skill then? The only thing that takes more skill than a TAR would be a CQ sniper, and you never see anyone sniping outside the mountains. |

Who are you killing in 3-4 bullets? Scouts? Most decent fits would take 6-10 shots to take down. TAR could likely use a nerf in CQ, but mid/long range TAR fighting relies far more on skill than any other weapon in the game.
What takes more skill? Shotgunners hoping poor hit detection keeps them alive long enough to get in OHK range? Nova Knifers praying everyones situational awareness is poor so they can get a kill? MD aiming at the ground hoping their splash is big enough to make up for poor aim? Snipers sitting across the map hoping everyone just ignores them while they rack up free kills and are useless to their team? Automatic AR users spraying wildly hoping enough of their bullets hit the target
TAR does feel like Halo. And Halo very much feels like the better player will win an engagement.
Quote:ol...spoken like a true scrub that doesn't want his tact. AR nerfed. Truth be told, NO GUN in DUST takes skill, as recoil is almost none existent. Hold the trigger, bingo. The skill comes from player choices, and tactics employed during battle.
The Tact. AR however, requires LESS skill than most guns in DUST... if not all gun. It's a joke.
Honestly, go ahead and nerf it. Ill just use the SR then and then youll want that nerfed too. I admit the TAR makes the SR a bit pointless, because it outranges it and the benifits of the SR dont make up for the range advantage. But nerf the TAR and ill be more than happy to use the Scramblers. |

Ah, I use the GLU, no damage mods and no AR prof to boost damage that way. its like 75+ per shot. So most decent fits will take me at minimum 5 shots. Funny enough, thats how many shots it takes to kill in halo :)
It takes me even less to kill with my scrambler pistol. How come nobody complains about that?
Im honestly all for a nerf to the TAR, I dont really care. I just think stating its a no skill weapon is ignorant. Single shot weapons are always the skill weapons in every game. The reason Halo is reduced to DMRs is because the devs realize that spray and pray weapons dont foster good competitive gameplay
Quote:I actually really liked the concept of the tactical rifles in chromosome. I wanted be somewhere in the middle of sniper and front line. Burst and tactical rifles fill that role.
This, so much. I was trying to do a CQ sniper role before, but its impossible with the current sniper mechanics and sway. Sway is too random to consistantly compensate for so you cant be a mobile CQ sniper at all. If they gave me a sniper with like 100+ damage and maybe 60 RPM but with no sway so I can actually aim, I would be a happy dude. The TAR might be a little OP but it fills that role so I like it. |

I never said no skill, just that imbalance exists and because of that it is easier to get kills.
The no skill comments are due to the OP
Quote:. I have tried real hard to not succumb to this skilless weapon(especially if you have a mod controller).
There is a fair discussion to be had about TAR balance and its OPness. But I dont believe that discussion starts with claiming its a skilless weapon. I think a reduced rate of fire would help balance the TAR, I suspect that is coming. I hope it is coupled with a bigger headshot bonus, or reduced kick at range.
But I honestly dont think nerfing the TAR will do much. With the new ranges on ARs, Scramber Pistols are godly. SR would be dominant if the TAR didnt exist. So unless you go through and nerf every single single shot weapon, youll just be seeing the same posts with TAR switched to SR or scrambelr pistol.. |

I agree, but I'll probably thrive off a nerf of it, so im cool with that.
Here's my logic as to why the TAR is ok.
1) most people think its fine at range and the issue with it is CQ. (not everyone, but most) 2) The scrambler pistol is already better CQ than the TAR while being similar. (reduced clip size and firing rate but massive headshot bonus) 3) The scrambler pistol is exactly the same as it was pre-uprising. 4) nobody complained about the scrambler pistol before
Thus, the TAR isnt really OP CQ, since there is a better weapon already out there that nobody thinks is OP. Go ahead, spend 200K on scrambler pistols to get decent clip size and use it, you'll come back realizing the TAR is fine. |

This will ruin the gun. Sway and other "random" mechanics that take away player skill and throw luck into it isnt the way to balance it. Half the reason you only see snipers hiding in the mountains is because of sway. |
