I'm currently running Caldari Assault, with all middle-tier shield modules, Proto assault rifles and such. It's a solid fitting- fast, durable, and cheap enough to be able to use regularly. What I'm wondering is, how do y'all think Gallente Assaults stack up?
I've done the math. Gallente Assaults are MUCH cheaper to spec into because of the shorter list of skills required to armor tank as compared to shield tank. You can get a higher amount of EHP with armor tanking, and armor is more resistant to most of the damage types that are used by the majority of Dust Bunnies. My only problem is the inherent hit to movement and regenerative speed that comes with armor tanking, since third tier plates give a HEFTY movement speed penalty, and armor repping, while constant, is very slow. With two complex armor reppers and all relevant skills, I think a fit tops out at 15 HP repped per second, and with three you're looking at 22.5- not bad, but 3 is really only viable with a Gallente Logi, with it's five low slots. But with the Logi you get even SLOWER speed- the fit's main weakness.
Now some more things I'm wondering: Does the armor rep bonus for Gallente Logi suits apply to YOU, or is it a rep bonus for when you rep a teammate? The wording is ambiguous. Does the speed penalty from using armor plates affect only BASE movement speed, or does it also affect sprinting speed? Is there any way to negate the base movement penalty, vis-a-vis with a module or skill that I've overlooked? Does anyone know if, in the future, they'll be releasing lower HP plates or armor mods of some sort with a smaller speed penalty, or without a speed penalty altogether? Will they release plating that is adaptive (self repping) and lower HP? Anyone who can link me to a recent source on this information gets +10 cool points. Lol
Anyway, for anyone brave enough for this serious TL:DR, any help would be awesome. I'm a HUGE fan of the way Gallente suits look, and I'd really like to know whether or not it's worth skilling into instead of Caldari. Plus the fact that the lore behind Gallente fits my personality better than that of the Caldari.
Thanks for any help that you can give!

So what about Gallente Logi? With its' superior PG and CPU, four high slots, five lows and (I think?) four equipment slots, wouldn't I be able to make a superior suit? Granted, when they change Gallente assault suit bonuses (and they WILL- as it stands right now, the bonus is ******** and useless), I'll be up poop creek with no paddle with a suit inferior to the assault specific varieties, but those extra slots look like a pretty worthy trade off. Slightly lower speed, EHP and shield rep, but... all that PG and CPU scream, "Fill my slots!"
... if you know what I mean.
