Add in the ability to control who gets in your vehicle. For example, open (anyone can hop in), corp (any corp member can hop in) or squad (only squad members can hop in).
That should put vehicle management in a far better position than it is now (none).
I second this. And I wish to expand and elaborate on it a bit with some ideas I have for such a system.
Say I call in a Dropship, I want that Dropship locked so only I can access it until I hop in the pilot's seat, which then allows people of my choice to get in. Choice of people can be changed if I "hack" my Dropship and select an option in a pop up menu (much like the deployment menu). Options could be:
Recall Unlock/Lock -> All/Corp/Squad/None Eject all upon pilot exit -> On/Off
Any settings made or changed should apply to all vehicles you call in.
But what if you're with a blueberry, and he/she gets sniped while his/her vehicle is being deployed? Well you can't wait for yours, so why not take his/her LAV that just landed? I think you should be able to hack the other blueberry's vehicles to gain access to it, unless it's already unlocked to all. In the aforementioned situation, you would take cover behind the LAV, hack it, gain access to it, and get out of dodge.
Which reminds me. I was in a match with a friend. He called in a Dropship, I was his gunner, we flew into battle, he then DCed. Luckily, we weren't but 20 feet off the ground. The engines powered down due to there being no pilot, then the hull hit the ground, taking minor damage. I realized what happened and that his Dropship was still in one piece. I hop in the pilot's seat, take off, hit the repper, and get out of dodge. Luckily, it survived without a scratch. I land safely, get out, and recall the Dropship (don't ask why I was allowed to. I don't know). After the aircraft was successfully recalled, I waited around for a bit to ensure it got recalled and I left the match to regroup with my friend. It turns out that he didn't get his Dropship back, and I didn't have an extra vehicle in my inventory. So in this situation, recalling did nothing to save my friend's vehicle. He never got it back, despite my best efforts. Most unfortunate, but no tears were shed over spilled milk. I just wish it would've worked out as I had planned.
Anyways, I have more ideas but this post is already too long and people would rather the forums be read to them instead of reading it themselves. |
