Hi there. Due to the recent changes in the required multipliers for certain skills, I'm left with hundreds of thousands of points in a useless skill, and I'm a bit upset.
Before these recent changes, I was going for the Amarr Assault Dropsuit. In order to start unlocking these racial suits, you needed level 5 in the Amarr Medium Dropsuit skill. I did just that, got my Medium skill to 5, then started speccing into the specialized Assault suit, getting it to level 3.
Now that they've changed things around, you no longer need level 5 in the basic suit in order to start unlocking the racial variants, you only need level 3.
Now, why on earth would I want both a prototype basic suit and one identical but with a bonus. All skills with multipliers that changed, or skills with prerequisites that changed, should have been reset with the SP invested in those skills given back to you, giving you the chance to do it right.
This makes me mad. Now I have a massive chunk of SP invested in a skill that yesterday was required and now today is useless.
I submitted a ticket a few days ago asking for a respec, only because I invested too much into ammunition for my sidearm and light weapon. Now I want one for a different reason. I still haven't received my respec, either and now I'm both worried, and angry. |

I dont know what the ammar medium suit bonus is for having it up to level five but I really doubt it is worth 5 to 7 hundred thousand SP.

Excellent post, you really wrote an eligible, concise argument. It truly was a great read.
There are people that are invested in racial suits that weren't aware that the skill requirements were changed. Many of these people did not request a respec because they took the time to allocate their SP right the first time. I too was happy with my choices but figured what the hell why not, I could take those SP invested into unneeded ammo and apply them elsewhere.
I was simply bringing it to the attention of players that did not request a respec but are invested in these suits, and that they may be losing hard earned SP due to the situation.
Thank you, try again. |

Don't tell them it could be an intelligent move to ask for the respec, they might get upset. I tried that already and got told they already used it...even though it was announced today

People are missing the point here.
When CCP changed the requirements for racial suits, they should have refunded the SP for lvl 4 and 5 basic frames so that people could either skill back into them or use the SP for the racial suits.
The problem is that now CCP is going to get flooded by respec requests that may not have been needed as people are not going to have hundreds of thousands of SP wasted on basic frame high tier suits. |

Ive only heard about this from EVE players but they have told me that CCP typically does partial reimbursements if they change up a skill tree on the EVE side so you would think this would be in the mechanics for Dust. |

I was about to post a thread with a similar sentiment. Basically what really confuses/worries me about this is the timing. Why make this change now, when other changes to the skill trees are coming Soon(TM)? Why not just deploy all of the skill tree changes at once and offer the respec at the same time?
Do they think they are helping people out by giving them some SP the week (weeks??) before the repec drops? Because it really bothers me as well now that I get some SP back, but still not enough to finish out my proto specialized suit because my points are still tied up in my proto basic suit that I don't even want. |

why thank you for concisely observing my well thought response to your idiotic thread.
everyone and their brother, plumber and even zitro's mom know about the respec and that everyone, even including YOU need only to send an email to CCP and state you want a skill respec and it will be granted.
No genie in a bottle needed, no magic beans to plant and climb to the clouds. and making yet another thread crying cause you haven't gotten your respec yet is simply uncalled for and I enjoy demonstrating such follies in an entertaining and enlightening atmosphere, typically at the expense of the OP |

yeah, it really sucks and pretty much proves how CCP hates their customers. i have a workaround, though. take all the extra SP you get and put it into something useless like corporation management. then you won't have this extra SP issue to deal with. it sucks that you have to spend your time and effort to fix CCPs idiocy but at least there is a way around the problem we all have to deal with. |

You're still not getting the point, I feel bad for you. Let me try to reiterate.
I did send in a ticket asking for a respec. Anyone who doesn't either thinks they allocated their skill points perfectly the first time around, are to stubborn to respec, or for some reason still haven't heard about it yet.
The point I was trying to bring to everyone's attention is that if you did not request for an optional respec, and you are invested in the specialized racial dropsuits like I am, you could end up having a lot of SP tied into skills that are not only not needed anymore, but are basically useless. I don't know how to make this point more clear to you. |

CCP Eterne wrote:Today DUST 514 will go offline for an extended period of time starting from 11:00 GMT. Server is expected to come back up at 12:00 GMT. During today's downtime we will apply following changes:
Increase in Scout LAV hitpoints Fixed issue with vehicle modules where camera would snap back to its original position after lock on Increased shield bonus of militia heavy shield extender BPO to be consistent with BPC Changed the CPU cost of the militia shield recharger BPO so that is consistent with the BPC Adjusted suspension and gravity settings for LAVs Reduced skill costs and level requirements for various vehicle skills Lowered SP cost multiplier of basic frames from x6 to x4 and role suits from x10 to x8 (excess skill points spent previously on these skills will return to your unallocated skill point pool automatically) Reduced unlock level of role suits from level 5 to level 3 of specific race frame skill Corrected Amarr Sentinel cost multiplier Fixed some battle server crashes
For your constructive feedback on these changes please use Feedback/Requests forum section.
Additionally, watch out for the details on the upcoming optional reset/respec right here, in this forum section.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The downtime update was posted less than ten hours from the actual downtime. So anyone else who is wondering where those hundreds of thousands of SP came from it was the Basic Frame skill dropping two multipliers. Of course the respec will allow people to get back that level 4 and 5 points still in the sink.
As for the main topic Utsuru Kaiju I can see why people thought you were complaining. For many of us the improved skill tree brought SP inflation at a biblical scale. Anyone perceiving the fixes being attacked are naturally going to get angry. |
