No reduction in core skills? No reduction for SP requirement for CPU/PG?
Many people have been scratching their heads over this move by CCP. What would be the benefit to the player base to make the SP requirements so high?
Hundreds of posts have been made, and many I've read discussing the merits of game longevity, newb time to beasting, etc.
But I haven't seen anyone talk about the actual reason.
I have 10.5 million SP, and in order to compete in PC (I'm a Heavy, so I need to spec for forges as well), there are several AUR items I had to purchase.
And that's when it hit me.
The high SP requirements are designed to make guys buy AUR modules and suits. I guess 20 bucks a month or so from most of the player base for Merc packs etc, just isn't enough. They want more movement on the micro transactions.
Greedy ****, your name is CCP.

Dude, you are missing the point. They are lowering the sp cost for basic frame dropsuits (FINE) and Skill Specific Suits (DUMB but w/e). They HAVE to keep some of these sp costs high. Otherwise we'll have even more steam rollers and rediculously powered people. These complaints for lowering sp costs are just want to spec right up really fast rather than actually have to take the time that most of us have had to take to get to where we are now. |

You don't "HAVE TO" purchase anything. You are impatient and don't want to take any more time to spec into those skills you need. Don't call CCP greedy because you're impatient. |

A lot of skills that used to do nothing but unlock stuff now shave off further CPU/PG usage from fitted parts or provide miniscule percentage bonuses, and you have some more part-specific skills that give extra CPU/PG reductions. But all these little factors add up and are less SP-intensive. Basically, you can now get even more fitted than you used to if you get those reductions by specializing in anything and then upping your core CPU and PG skills on top. The core CPU and PG skills that give you more being maxed out are kind of overkill unless you want to be a jack of all trades.
And specializing first before branching out is something that everybody should be doing; now the new skill tree and SP costs are going to enforce that. Even without needing to spend AUR. |

The amount of AUR items I've seen in PC confirms otherwise: to be competitive in PC you have to spend money, or be a no-lifer. |

Will you guys stop with this nonsense ten year plan? DUST IS NOT EVE AND IT WILL NOT SURVIVE ON EVE PLAYERBASE ALONE.
What worked in eve doesnt mean it will work dust. ****, what worked in eve 10 years ago doesnt mean that it would work if CP started eveonline today, in 2013.
Am I supposed to wait 10 years for a proper sight to my AR? Or ten years for movements to be smooth? Or for the aiming to be fixed? Ccp needs to get right all that needs to be right asap |

Ydubbs, I think he's referring instead to the time it takes to fully skill up. It's intentional that you have to take some time before you get all the best weapons, suits, and modules. It's intentional that you have to invest and dedicate some time in this game to get to the top, to be competitive.
This isn't a "features are missing but will come in later" thread. It's a "I'm upset that I don't have enough SP to put all my skills up to max" thread. |

I beg to differ. A lot of FPS fans on these forums have called it an MMORPG with FPS elements. Or a MP FPS with RPG elements. Or a MP RPG with FPS elements.
Either way. It's an RPFPS.
Anyone else slightly confused about the acronyms? |

Why decrease sp costs? If your primary goal is to get newbies have enough sp to spend to skill, just increase the starting sp of every new player.
I'd say 500k to 1 million SP.
Or... Allow x2 sp gain in instant battle academy (increase sp cap not just gain)
That allows the players with only say 3 million down to gain fast sp to a certain amount of sp to make them viable in pub or pc |
