Game is fun up until the academy ends after that you get slaughtered by EVERYONE. Its pretty bad they expect you to stand with guys that have been playing since early beta and have about 5mil sp more than you, not to mention they all have organized teams and know all the maps/ins and outs of the game. But im not on here to just complain I just want to know is this ever going to get easier? Im at the point where it feels like its not even worth trying to catch up because getting killed over and over and over again to people who wayyyyyy out gear you is no fun at all and im not going to spend a month of my time getting owned not because of my skill but because other people started playing before me. If anyone has any advice id appreciate it, Really want this game to workout but its not fun like this....

Firstly, welcome to Dust (I don't mean that in a rude way, welcome to the game).
While you may never truly catch up to these guys, specializing in one role will definitely help speed up your progression into the later suits and modules.
What I mean by specialization is to pick a role you like (AR-wielding Assault, LogiBro, HMG Heavy, etc.) and skill into that role exclusively. You will still die to the more geared players, but by focusing your points into one aspect, you can reach that high-tier stuff much quicker for that role than sprinkling SP over every skill that sounds interesting.
I would also recommend finding a newbie-friendly corp and running in squads with them. Stay in a group, don't chase after what may seem like an easy kill, get on voice comms, and most importantly, remember that it is a game and try not to get frustrated.
If all else fails, while in the war barge pre-match, look at the players on both teams. Sometimes there will be a group of people from the same corporation. Go ahead and bail out of those fights if they're on the opposing team, or enjoy the easy victory if they're on your side. I've tried dodging games like this before, and it does make a huge difference.
Hit me up if you have any questions, I'll help as best I can. Been around since the early closed beta, so I might know a few things. |

I agree with everything TheAmazing FlyingPig said. One other suggestion while you are working up to better items. Stay close to your group/squad and play peek a boo. pop out and fire some round go back into hiding move location repeat. While this will not net you a ton of kill you kill assist will go up and hopefully your death will come down. |

Welcome to DUST 514. I am glad that you also find enjoyment in the game.
I started two weeks after open Beta started so my Uphill Battle was not as vicious as yours but I can sympathize. Even worse is that I wasn't 'lulled into a false sense of security' with the Academy. I knew immediately what it was going to be. I cannot imagine how tough it is for you. Even even worse is that the SP price increase is doing exactly what I was afraid it would do to newer players. There area couple things you can do so the stacked deck is not too brutal.
As the above said, figure out what you want to do and stick to that role. What is going to happen is the guy that focused on X three months before you focused on X is going to beat you at X now. In another few months, you will be just as good at X but he will also be able to do Y. This is how you catch up: you may not be able to do as much as him but I can definitely be just as good at one thing.
I do not mean this part as an insult: get better at the game. I have seen players goes full Militia and do pretty nasty against people in Advanced or Prototype suits, providing they weren't Tanks. If you can be flat out better than the other guy, get that 'Game Sense' going where you just KNOW what is going to happen before it happens, you can beat him.
Super +1 on looking at the Warbarge screen (that is Start + Player List or Escape + Player list, stupid broken Tab button) and seeing what you are facing. Make a note of corporations that play overly well with each other. If you are facing that squad and know that you are just going to be stomped to the point that it is not fun, leave the battle. Don't do it all the time because losing is not what is annoying, it is the feeling of "I cannot do anything as this team goes 40 and 0."
Get on the Corporation Recruitment page and just say "Hey, I am new at the game and I am looking for a bunch of chill people to play some games with and have some laughs." There are many of those types of Corporations. DUST University (and it's EVE counterpart) will always have a special place in my heart because of what they do.
Be well. |

What I'd recommend if you want some easy SP/WP is to make a budget logi except take off the repper and replace it with a militia repair tool. See the problem with the nanite injector on the default logi is that as a default suit your weak and running into the middle of a fire fight to revive someone is not too smart considering you are paper thin. Instead with a repper you can stick with your squad and act in the support role and get Triage and Guardian points and maybe a kill here or there. |

Squad Up!
Seriously, squad up before you ever deploy in every match. Bonus points if there is a squad that is Mic'd up and has an open slot. Don't go anywhere alone. The easiest way to overcome the skill/gear gap is with teamwork.
Mic up too if you can. If not, still listen to what your squadmates are saying.
It's pretty basic stuff but it's ridiculous how many games you'll play where over half the team is not in squad and running solo. And at the end of the match, those guys are at the bottom of the killboard EVERY TIME. |
