[FEEDBACK] Dropship flight mechanics in Uprising - handling feels different: from CPM feedback. Update: The only change made to the dropship flight mmechanic was a small reduction in speed. We will continue to monitor player feedback on this.
Because as every pilot in DUST knows, the miniscule changes to flight mechanics was the worst part about being a dropship pilot.
OFF? They feel OFF? The Assault ships retained their basic handling with an increased flight ceiling, maybe a tiny bit more handling. The logis and normal ships were brought down with a "small reduction in speed" / butchered when it comes to maneuverability.
I literally could not be happier for my respec.
Until CCP and CPM show any form of ******* knowledge when it comes to dropships and vehicles in general, I will never ******* touch them again.
You all ruined flying for me.

Vehicles should be a secondary specialty anyway. But anyone is welcome to train one thing only if they want. History shows specialists cry harder than anyone else because of their gimped options as things evolve. Having said that, there is lots of good feedback on DS, and I hope they get better soon. |

I'm just as unhappy with how they summarized our thoughts as you are, DUST Fiend.
We have been pushing them on more stuff than that just the controls, and while the word 'off' was present, we were definitely more specific as to why manoeuvring seems to have gone to hell.
That, coupled with the PG skill, iffy camera controls, and asking WHY GOD WHY when they decided to buff every vehicle's HP except dropships. Edit: I wanted to make it seem like I forgot about MCRU spawns so I could have something in common with CCP.
Don't worry man. Dropships hold a special place in my heart. I am doing my best to make sure that the year of anguished cries of pilots is not ignored. |

They seriously need 50-75% damage reduction. |

Thanks for the response. Unlike some here, I don't actually blame the CPM, and only somewhat blame CCP. I just get frustrated. Fixed or not I'm switching to infantry, if they do eventually become a more viable tool on the battlefield I will happily pour a few months into being able to fly again.
Keep up the good fight, I actually do understand and appreciate that you all have a lot of weight on you with this, and you can't simply focus on any one thing and expect it to magically happen. It would just be nice to see some pilot love now that we're in release, since we didn't get a whole lot / any during the Betas :/ |

Well TBH... In uprising 1.0 and replication, Dropships were gods. No collision damage, no inertia on thrust. YOu could literally just bounce around off of things and roadkill everything. AV grenades didn't home, swarms were a joke with lockon, and forge guns didn't do enough damage to own a dropship instantly.
Back then, we had it easy (I think you were around to remember that, DUST. I too, miss those days.
People like me are probably responsible for the massive over-nerfs because of how we used them to just literally park it on top of the solitary spawnpoint during a redline and insta-kill anything that spawned without even having to move, because of the way the systems worked. (I grandfathered the dropship roadkill tactic that later became a plague up until the e3 build where CCP said "ENOUGH" and cursed us with broken collision damage forevermore...
So... I'm sorry.
But I'm trying to make it up to you. |

Lmao I remember those days fondly. Yet even then, when we were the Gods of the sky and death bunnies of New Eden, we were still often hoofing it around on the ground (well, not so much since we got SO MUCH STUFFS back then for winning / losing >_<)
A lot of that abuse really evolved from the lack of rewards or reason for dropships, and also the undeniable rush of crushing 3-4 reds at once.

Who would have guessed! And here there have been people do such a thing for the "good" of the game....
I'm not picking on you Nova, yous good people and don't think you would do what I sarcastically just suggested, but those who use obviously broken things to their advantage and then hide behind the "oh, well until CCP fixes it, we're going to keep doing X or using Y to show how broken it is" seems like a cop-out to me. |

As a vetran dropship pilot i too was devastated by the changes but it didnt stop me flying i stayed true to Dust 514 and maintained faith in CCP suppirting everything they are doing.....
When the cpm and devs even acknowledge the mistakes that faith is restored o7 |

Another thing if your going to make a dropship "feel heavier" give it the correct hit points... You guys have made it feel like a blimp in the sky, one forge gun hit and POP!
Make it feel like a tank^ then make it feel like a tank more PG and CPU and ofcourse that extra high power slot^
Its easy to fly but not easy to survive in a 1.4 mil isk expensive flying coffin |

Right now redline Railgun Installations and Tanks are my biggest frustration. Missile range is insane too, but they are easier to dodge, and you can at least tell where the missiles are coming from.
They can hit you across half the map, and there is nothing you can do about it. A few installations can be dealt with by spawing a Swarm first, but lots of them are on raised ground and don't have a clear shot from the battle zone.
If I could get one small thing right now, it would at the least be a smoke trail from whatever just hit you. The "hit detection" is worthless. I'm being told I'm being hit from behind, when the only thing behind me is my own redline. These things have such a huge range, I'm getting tagged and I have absolutely no idea from where. |

I'm actually speccing into dropships when ReSpec hits. It's all I want to do. I'm a badass ground player, but it's just too easy to rack up kills as a sniper, assault, scrambler rifler, tanker, LAVer. I'll pride myself on nerfing myself to the point of not getting any kills, spending hundreds of thousand of ISK each match, being one hit by a bug hitting my windshield.
Dropships till I die.
Or until fighters come out, then lolbyedropship. |

People get upset when they are killed by weapons they don't use, and even more upset when it's something they are nowhere near skilled into using. So it's understandable when dropship kills make them angry. It leads to lots of hatred, cries and nerfs.
While I don't suggest the answer is to remove its ability to kill, I would really like to see some viable support missions. If infantry and even other vehicle users decided that friendly dropships were more useful than enemy dropships were annoying they might actually support us. We might get our handling back and we might actually get some support from the ground.
I know it isn't as simple as buffing turrets or fixing the camera, but the long term health of the dropship is going to depend upon its utility to the overall mission of winning a battle. It needs to be integrated into good strategy and not treated as a decoration.
You understand the importance of keeping the dropship a player skill intensive career. Please let CCP know that pilots want skill based counters to AV just as we appreciate the skill based controls and flight physics. We want to be proud of our abilities when we survive and thrive on the battlefield. |

When the respec comes I am leaving them too. +1 to the comment above about rail guns. They shoot way too far and are usually behind the redline.
I have suffered enough frustration with this part of Dust and the above link shows CCP still does not get it. Right now this game boils down to who can shoot the other guy in the face the fastest with an AR... |
