Seriously though, what you are describing, everyone rolling AV nades, is called adapting. And tbqh we carry them to counter LAVs more than your tank. You are just icing on the cake if we are in the right place at right time. Thankfully, I doubt CCP will split grenade skills. But who cares if they do. I'll grind the SP and keep coming at you bro. :) |

Survey says! XXX! What grenade and swarm launcher variant is your baseline here? 
I'm not a tanker, but I suspended my Tryhard skill progression to co-specialize in at minimum advanced AV. The bottom line on why Uprising feels better than Chromosome (with the exception of starter clown cars) is that tanks don't pubstomp every damn match anymore. Good tankers still dominate, and scrubs go down as flaming wrecks. It's kind of refreshing to see all the QQ about TARs that used to be reserved for tanks.
Balancing is an ongoing and delicate job, but all the crying about nerfing AV nades is weak. People shouldn't be able to sustain dedicated upper tier tanking solo, in battle or ISK wise. If your tank is surrounded by infantry with AV nades you're doing it wrong.
