As you get older you learn to expect less from people. I will correct people that I actually know, and if it is apparent that they're just dumb, I'll quit talking to them. People I'm not friendly with, I assume to be idiot jerkwads, and 1 law away from worm food. |

I think a much better example, that OP should have used, is the difference between "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse" and "I helped my uncle jack off a horse". |

Don't know what to say ??? Why ? no sure if agreeing with you or not ?
That quota could be interpreted in two different ways ;
A- I agree with what you saying, and is never a excuse for stupidity.
B- In this thread context, I think you been stupid, and you should stop.
You see... the same sentence, two possible meanings...How you interpreted what i saying, is linked to Knowledge... not Grammar. |

If someone is talking and says, "I wish I are a fish, so I could swim around all day" and then someone else says "You wish you were a fish." or some other conversation stopper. Usually I want to punch that person in the face. First for disrepecting the original speaker and secondly, for being a jerk and stopping the conversation.
Ah, so by that rationale, it is better to continue to stop the conversation by continuing with the derail. In the white knight's mind, it is better to perpetuate the degradation of a language as long as flow of a conversation goes unhindered. In my opinion, it is the lazy typist that produces the hindrance by creating an unnecessary irritation for readers that should happen upon their incoherent babble. |

Not following... Sure about what? That you're joking? I'm not, that's why I asked. That the correct spelling of grammar is not grammer? That really should be common knowledge but Wikipedia to the rescue. |

Your and you're Their, they're and there It's and its To, two and too
These along with many others drive me insane. It isn't hard to write a halfway proper sentence, no one's expecting you to be perfect, but at the very least try to achieve a writing level higher than a fifth grader.
I should type in Jamaican to really mess ur head up. I only type proper for my job. Internet noobs dont pay my bills. I could also type in ebonics SMH internet dweebs. |

Seriously though poor grammar and puntuation make some thing unbearable to read. I know I make more than my fair share of mistakes too. I often skip entire posts on these forums after the first few words due to them being very hard to read.
This. +1.
I don't give a **** if you use proper grammer and punctuation. I don't care if you want to buck the system or be 'cool' or 'make me understand your message'.
The truth is that if your message isn't *easily* readable, or if you sound like a 3rd grader trying to type gangster then I skip your post. Way to show me what's up. |

Communication is about delivering a message. You know what is being said, don't be a jerk and make fun of someone because of how it was delivered. When I have to read a post that's in all lower-case with no punctuation and nearly ever word misspelled, I'm not getting the message.

Communication is about delivering a message. You know what is being said, don't be a jerk and make fun of someone because of how it was delivered. You're right, the problem is, messages are often misinterpreted due to improper grammar and punctuation. A communication delivered with proper grammar and punctuation is more easily understood by the audience. Indeed, this is the reason grammar and punctuation exist.
I was always taught grammar and punctuation is all about formal and informal settings. In a formal setting I expect 100% in other not a single mistake. So is this forum with an audience I do not know anything about a formal setting legally. When informally writing it is up to the writer. In a formal setting you would be laughed out of the room, or mocked
It is informal, and I do not expect at all with their educations: public/private/both to be right even 1%. I wouldn't expect the same, and for some less then a fifth grader for an improper setting is not wrong, for the writer gets to decide what is acceptable even if you cannot read it beauces or errors like "lets eat, grandma or lets eat grandma"
For example I throw out or use slang for contractions, I get rid of apostrophe rules, could care less about (semicolon; transition word, comma, and especially fu[-_-]ck commas. I listen to to my private/public teachers that have shared when to write formally, and for who, when, where, why.
