Yesterday, I spawned in with my team at the very beginning of Manus Peak. I brought in a Python, waited for my squad to load up, and lifted off. Once I was off the ground, I instantly took a rail round. I don't know how; the match had just started and I was still deep in my own red line. I maneuvered away, and safely deposited my team at C. I went searching, blew up an installation, and was hit by another rail round. Slinging away, I went back to my MCC and waited for my shields to regen.
Revitalized, I went on the hunt. Off the other side of the map, a sniper tank was sitting in the enemy's red line. A Python is absolute death from above to most tanks, but a tank in the red line is like a cat sitting just past the end of a dog's chain. Accepting there was nothing that could be done about him, I flew away to assist my team and was promptly removed from the air.
This was now the 3rd match in a row I'd lost my dropship (in 2 shots) to a red line tank that I could do nothing about. I reached forward, pushed the power button on my PS3, and walked away.
I don't want to see tanks nerfed, I just want a fix to this red line problem. Either make the maps bigger , remove all war point gain while in the red line, or make dropships cost half of what they do currently (hull and modules combined).
TL;DR Started this build with 130M ISK and now have <75M, expect to continue to lose ISK. Rage-quit and played Skyrim yesterday. |

I've been asking for this for months:

Supposedly, it's under review. Kinda like they are someday going to deal with AFK farming. |

The redline should either be removed completely, allowing the other team to push you back and camp you if they are doing well enough to do so, or it should be so that people who spawn behind it have a time limit to leave. Not too short, but not too long, either, or they start losing tonnes of WP, so much so that it runs into the negative, not unlike losing sec status. Doesn't mean they can't fight, it just starts to penalise them for staying there. That way, any kills collected from behind it are negated. I was going to suggest they get booted at the end of this time limit, because that would also deal with afk'ers, but there are other ways to deal with them and that sort of thing would not be in line with the idea of a sandbox. |

The only issue I see with removing all WP from within the red line is, when you are seriously outgunned and can't get out the red line, we had 3 tanks, including Gunnlogi the other day pretty much stopping us from getting out of the red line to do much. One was finally taken down from damage near the end of the match including militia swarms from inside the red line. It wasn't fun, so the red line can harm both ways.
Plus don't feel too bad I have 5m risk so 75m is still a lot to play with.
The proposal linked would just mean more AFK because if you can't get out the red zone without being massacred then there is little incentive to carry on. |

Now, to add insult to injury, they can try as hard as they want to push out, and it won't get them anything. Both SP and ISK are partially tied to WP, so removing it would be like an extra kick in the balls on top of getting camped into your base. |

If the team is getting pwned enough to get redlined in the first place, then that is their own failure, and the pwning team's success. I've been redlined on teams a few times. Grats to the teams that pulled it off. Still got some kills before the match ended, then went on to the next one. |

Or you could get a forge gun and blow the tank apart, or you could get a tank on your team and have them do it, or you could just stay away from the tank like everyone else.
If it's a sniper, you could counter snipe, you could use an assault drop ship, you could just run the risk of a red line incursion.
The reason the redline exists in the first place is because if a team were overrun there would be no CRU to spawn on and then you'd all just stand under the MCC and shot players as they exited the MCC. The redline isn't going anywhere.
I disagree with deducting WP from players how snipe or tank from behind the redline as well. You should either adapt and overcome or avoid. If you TEAM, not your squad, but your team were working together in unison, then redline tanks and snipers wouldn't be nearly as big an issue.
If fact, the more that I think about it the more I think that I don't want anything that makes our job easier to do. If every battle went exactly how you wanted it, it would be a stale, there would be no need to adjust tactics or overcome the adversity on the battlefield. Then there would be no reason for anything except run and gun folks.
All this thread boils down to is someone got his little drop ship broken several times because was started raging and decided he was going to take out a tank no matter what. He failed, lost some ISK, and is now QQ to get some attention in hopes that CCP will do things his way. Grow up. I bet those servicemen and women in the middle east had wished that every fight had gone exactly the way they wanted, perhaps some of their friends wouldn't have died in combat. It's a shame when even video game players start getting PTSD from playing games all because they lack situational awareness and the ability to adapt and overcome. You don't want to lose your drop ship, then don't bring your toys on the battlefield. Loss of equipment is a risk that everyone takes in one way or another. Even redliners. |

Yeap sure am. Whatcha going to do about? Nothing. I get 6-7K and 120K ISK for doing nothing. I'm ok with that, most of you have the coordination of a blind, deaf, autistic kid with a club foot. And quite frankly, since most players can't even get the basic concept of squading up to improve team play and increase the chances of winning, I will most assuredly AFK grind. Also, I see no point in running around wasting ISK until the skill trees are fixed.
Now if I'm on a decent team with known decent or better players, then I squad up and contribute. I'm ok with AFK grinding, in fact I'd love to just a whole match of AFK grinders just to see how long it would take to get to a draw, or perhaps just both teams all get in the MMC and everyone jump and crash to the ground to see who can do it the most times before clones run out. My personal record is 35 times before the end of a match with me being the only one doing it.

There's no need for artificial measures to prevent initial spawn camping. If you're losing so badly that the red team can take every objective, as well as your intial CRU, your team has already lost the match, and the match should end right then and there.

Q: How can you make a small fortune in aviation?
A: Start with a large fortune.
I found a way to make my SP investment in vehicle skills pay off while I'm waiting for the respec and I think you should give it a try too. It could just relieve all that dropship frustration.
Fit a STD LAV (I'm using the Gurista Saga BPO from the PS3 bundle) with enough modules to tank two swarm volleys or two EXO AV grenades and go on a murder taxi spree. It's a freaking blast!
At 92k ISK I can afford to lose one per match and still make money, but with some smart driving you can take one through two or more matches without losing it. Driving for kills actually takes player skill as does knowing when to let a target go and bug out.
Racing around reminds me of the Off Road racing game I got bundled with my fat PS3 so many years ago, but with the added element of being able to kill. I'm actually thinking about reserving a mil or so SP to spec back into the modules needed to tank the LAV.
Now if I can just convince CCP to add a spike grill or let me fire the turret in a locked forward position when not manned I could have so much more fun. |

I'm ok with this because, comes around goes around and it doesn't affect my SP at all. In fact it won't affect my ISK either since I'd more than likely be wearing militia gear to begin with. FF is a useless tactic to use against AFKers. So go ahead, shot me, doesn't change anything. And you'll get no tears from me so do what you have to do. The only thing that'll happen is that I will return the favor and there are more places to hang out than the MCC. |
