- Reduced skill costs and level requirements for various vehicle skills - Lowered SP cost multiplier of basic frames from x6 to x4 and role suits from x10 to x8 (players that have spent their SP on these skills reviously will get their excess SP back to their unallocated pool)
It still technically hasn't been confirmed, but all signs point to the optional respec landing on the 22nd |

Even though basically all signs point to the skill respec coming when the skill tree is tweaked: skill tree is being tweaked, so skill respec is likely

Then why would it be in the section titled Optional Skill Point Respec?

This was mentioned in the weekly review under the feedback thread as 'working as intended due to value of skills' or something like that. Too lazy to go look now. |

So in order to get into a specialized role prototype suit you only need about 2.8 million SP as opposed to the 5 million SP before before. That gives us a good 2.2 million extra skill points to spend. But of course since they are reducing the skill level requirement to move onto specialized suits from V to III, if you did not request a respec and already started specializing that is 1,865,520 SP you'll never see again (assuming you didn't want the basic frame prototype). |

Honestly I dont know why people would waist their SP on Assault Proto when they can get Basic Proto no problem, and Logi proto right under it. Untill they give assault suits a massive boost, they are damn near worthless. |

I would assume they will issue re-specs once their skill tree 'renovations' are complete.
and they haven't indicated the dropsuit skills are the only thing there are changing...

Untill they give assault suits a massive boost, they are damn near worthless. Well I agree that Assault suits need different fitting layouts than the basics (as do scouts and sentinels), but the skill bonuses are still pretty nice. 25% shield recharge rate plus whatever your racial bonus, it's worth something.
Of course before the difference between basic proto and assault proto was 3 million SP, not really worth it. Now it's halved to about 1.5 million SP. That can be worth it for some, but it still needs something to differentiate it. |

just playin devils advocate here.. You know, who wants to bet that the reason they delayed this until Wednesday is so they can have everyone who requested a respec given their respec at the same time the skill tree changes, instead of changing it now and waiting a couple days for them to finish their request sorting. |

I personally would actually like to see a second equipment slot for Basic, and bigger damage bonuses or more grandes for assault. That way the Basic suit is more of a jack of all trades, and the specialized suits, are actually specialized. |

Knarf Black wrote:So what exactly is the point of Proto Basic Frames now? Well it is a faster way to get into proto suits for new players as it would only take 1.2 million skill points instead of about 2.8 if they aimed straight for the specialized suits. But also in the future I imagine they are going to take our feedback and give each suit type different fitting layouts, so that say the Assault would be better geared layout-wise for actual assaulting, while the Basic Medium would be better for generalized roles. |

Depends if we can get proto specilized suits with only L3 basic suits, or if we need to go L5 basic suits, to get the L5 specilized suits. |

Will be nteresting to see how it's handled, cuz it looks like medium frame 3 and done with that skill now.
EDIT: having thought about it, basic prot is now half the sp as role proto, so it may still be useful to some. |

Well when they first announced it they said they were lowering the costs associated with the suits to be more in line with how they were in Chromosome. And I must say, fantastic job! Chromosome was 2.2 million for a prototype suit. After the update, it will be 2.8 million for a prototype specialized suit, much closer than 5 million. |
