So after doing all the math and reading the forums for what was broken and what was nerfed, I finally started spending my SP after the May 7th reset. I'm pretty happy with my choices, but I've still got some SP and I'd like a little advice before I take the final plunge and spend it.
1.4 million SP available. Here are my options:
Assault Rifle III --> Assault Rifle V Cost: 485,000 (31,000 more with Proficiency I) Pros: Opens up Duvolle, eventually Duvolle Tactical. Might be a game-changer? Cons: I don't necessarily do bad with the Gek-38. How much better can it be? I had the Duvolle pre-Uprising and it wasn't as awesome as I was expecting.
- OR -
Armor Upgrades I --> Armor Upgrades V Cost: 609,400 Pros: Seems like it would offer a pretty significant armor boost, benefits every possible dropsuit configuration. Cons: Pretty much none.
- OR -
Gallente Medium Dropsuit III --> Gallente Medium Dropsuit V Cost: 1.4 million Pros: More slots, more options, looks cool. Cons: Not necessarily lacking with my current suit, proto's not much better, really expensive.
- OR - Armor Plating OR Armor Repair III --> Armor Plating OR Armor Repair V Cost: 757,000 Pros: I could possibly tank like the big boy protos for once. Cons: I get one or the other -- not both. Very costly, and I already have enhanced. Worth it? I dunno.
Well as you can see, I can mix and match a couple of these choices or I can go with one really big one like the suit. Any advice would be helpful regarding this decision. Also, am I missing something? I don't have any shield skills, but Gallente dropsuits aren't really shield-focused and I'd rather save my high slots for damage mods. If you beg to differ, please let me know.
Thanks again in advance for the help. |

my vote is either dropsuit to 5 or your armor skills to 5, weapon can wait untill after you get dropsuit 5 |

Ok so you are using a Gallente Medium suit. Armor upgrades is 5% per level. You have 210 armor. That is 10.5 per level, up to 52.5 rounded up to 53 more armor. I got that, but I regret it. That is a lot of skill points for not much more armor, I would of rather done something else and waited to skill into armor upgrading once I had a ton of SP to blow.
Assault Rifle III -> Assault Rifle V is still a good idea even if you do fine with the Gek 38 because it opens up the Assault Rifle Operations skill which gives 3% damage increase per level. That is the real game changer.
As far as the other options you have listed, the Medium Frame III -> V is definitely something you are going to have to do eventually, but if you do it now that will be the rest of your SP and you don't really have the accompanying gear to warrant a proto suit right now. And I have armor repairers at V and definitely recommend them, but then you wouldn't have a proto suit to have room to fit them.
With your current skill points, if I were in your position I would go Assault Rifle Operations V Assault Rifle Proficiency III Armor Plating III Armor Repairers III
That should be 1.25 million SP so you'd have a bit left over, maybe dumb some into electronics or engineering if you are having fitting options. |

Thanks a lot for the help! I think more power really matches my playstyle, too. I tend to flank and hit from cover rather than play the jumpy-headshot dancey game I see so many people do. A proto suit would be nice, but I could be more well-rounded in my skills with the other choices. |

If you're fairly happy where you are with your guy, maybe you could put the remaining SP into something completely different? I had about 950k left last night, and I'm happy with the choices I've made so far (for some reason I'm doing much, much better this build - "aiming problems"? What aiming problems?) so I chucked it all evenly into SMG and swarm launcher. Completely out of my comfort zone, but now I've got a cute little AV class. I wont use it all the time, but it'll be nice to have the option. So whats your guilty pleasure/wish? Wanna be Mr. Medic? Or have a snipe now and then? Shotgun uplink dude? That's the sheer, unbridled joy of this game I reckon - the choices! Whatever you choose, good luck! |

That's a great idea and I totally know where you're coming from! What I failed to mention is that I already have Scrambler Rifle III and Sniper II (can't live without the tactical sniper rifle). So yes, dabbling I've done indeed. It's definitely worth it to experiment and try new things. |
