So I've been using the Imperial Scrambler Rifle for a bit now with some damage mods (currently running enhanced damage mods but will be complex soon) and that thing hits like a freight train - question is, with continued speccing into SCR Proficiency therefore increasing the damage, does the Carthum (full auto proto SCR) become viable at any point?
Has anyone used both and not just one or the other to provide some insight on this before I invest in hundreds of Carthums.
Thanks. |

why bother, the other AR's we've been using are superior to it.
the SR's need a range buff so they actually out range the blaster rifles we're using. |

First off it is "role play" so get it straight, second off, the SCR are viable weapons in capable hands but it sounds like you're in the CoD state of mind if you think that not playing with ARs is crippling yourself when there are many other weapon choices in DUST.
Please just move along, your contributions are no longer needed in this thread. |

And the TAR is the most efficient weapon in the game right now.

I two use the SR aswell, and I find the Assault version very viable. Granted when talking about armor it drops in usefulness quickly, and I have found myself becoming my corps "King of Assists". I would recommend that you fore go your anti-anything else stance and get a flaylock to finish off those pesky Heavies. |

You're no different than those in BF3 who use the M16A3 because it is the "best weapon" foregoing any diversity in weapon selection just because you feel the need to pad your K/D as much as possible.

Thanks. Yeah it is already very viable! i switched back and forth between the guns when they first came out and find that the imperial is a good weapon but tends to fail in drawn out gunfights while the carthum is pretty much made for long gunfights with its extra large clip size making it a much better clutch weapon |

They are both equally useful in different situations. I prefer the singleshot and use my sidearm cause it kinda sucks in cqc. Assault is better at cqc but not as good at range due to the dispersion. As another poster noted above its inferior to all ARs of the same level. It is, however, serviceable. |

I **** AR users with your mentality all day with my CRD SR. You're probably just a Cal user that doesn't want people using 120% shield effectiveness weapons because you're scared of taking a K/DR hit. |

I was thinking of using the Carthum for that very reason, but the dispersion on the auto SCRs is just so bad. |

I can speak for the Automatic scramblers, they are perfect. well... maby a bit more range would be cool.
People qq to much about the TAR, its not even a threat compared to the AR.
I rate guns by how fast they vaporize me in the hands of a pro, The Carthum and Devolle kill me at the same speed, an faster then anything else I seen yet. The TAR is like a bug bitting me on the side, takes people for ever to kill me with one.

Yes as you try to engage enemies at longer ranges you will suffer as you said the dispersion is rather bad as well as being only effective against shields, so when you get down to armour you essentially have little to no chance to finish off your opponent.
The clip size is a huge benefit to this gun I have had several encounters where I would say the only reason I survived was that I could shoot those extra shots before reloading. |

Use whichever appeals to you the most. Don't listen to the "X is better, stop kidding yourself" crowd because it is obvious once the nerfhammer strikes on the Cal logi and the TAR, many people will regret having spec'd into it for the wrong reasons. |

I thought the Scrambler Rifle was the nerf on the Caldari logi suit....sure seems like it to me. |

This really.
Comparing the 2 variants, I prefer the auto just because I love the sound. The Imperial is so much stronger and if you're using the assault Amarr suit then you can take advantage of less heat build up. I use Caldari suit and the Carthum doesn't overheat even when emptying entire clip. |

I do use the Amarr Assault suit, but even with SCR at V and SCR Proficiency at I, it overheats after six shots even though it seriously hits like a train.

Just try it, you won't be impressed. Using damage mods and armor tanking isn't a good idea when using the Carthum, because you'll move slowly and the weapon has very low range. imo shields and speed is the way to go for CQC, strafing, escaping your ass off, etc. |
