My god, the people who demand constant respecs have no vision and are just entitled. |

CPL Bloodstone wrote:If this is supposed to be "Eve" like and be a sandbox, let the floodgates open, let them respec with Aurum. CCP wins, customer wins. Eventually the customer will find what they truely love and stick to it.
If its a sandbox let the damn thing be a sandbox.
Eve Online has no respec system for skill points. Only basic attributes get annual respecs and those attributes only affect how fast you train a certain type of skill book. |

That trend being that most of your posts make absolute sense, no question about it. Keep it up, dude! Now as far as respeccing skills go: Absolutely not! No way in hell! That's the worst idea ever and goes against everything that makes EVE and Dust 514 great. It goes against everything that is Dust and Eve huh? There was a respec on the 6th.....
That was because CCP was still fixing the skill system during... dare I say it? Beta. |

Eve Online, a game whose server we are directly connect to at this very moment, is still undergoing additions and changes that are so grand it's a complete wonder how New Eden has survived and flourished with only one (just ONE) respect in its entire 10-year lifespan.
When Eve Online first came in, battleships were considered the biggest ships in New Eden and owning one meant you were powerful and wealthy. On top of that, there were no specialized mining ships at the time. No Hulk, no Coveter, no Skiff, no Venture (the Venture is a recent addition actually), no Orca, no Rorqual, nothing. Everyone was mining in either a Bantam or in a Rohk. The Orca and Rorqual came at around 2007 (give or take a year) in a game that was officially released in 2003. The Tengu, Loki, Legion, and Proteus never arrived until about a couple of years ago when the Apocrypha expansion arrived. The skill system didn't get fully revamped until about just last year in 2012 or early this year. Learning skills didn't get removed until around 2010 or 2011. Titans and the complex means of constructing them never arrived until way after commercial release. The Naga, Talos, Oracle, and Tornado never came until last year when the Crucible expansion arrived.
Regardless of all of these additions and changes, regardless of the demands of the carebears who kept stomping and screaming wanting respecs on demand, CCP only allowed one respec across 10 whole years.
Dust will probably endure the same fate. This game is being run by the same company that made Eve Online after all and we all are living in the same 10-year-old universe with a cultural norm that has been well established with deep roots too strong to uproot. |
