OP is dead on with his topic. I played heavily in Beta but took a vacation the last couple of months. Used to run shotgun scout exclusively so specced this way coming into release. SG has definitely taken a beating with a Nerf Bat. Maybe it needed it even, but in conjunction with the Scout Suit and the SG's even greater lack of range makes me think Nova Knifes are the way to go. I haven't tried the Knives since they became non-standard but already specced gallente which would seem a waste.
Anyways, +1 OP as now I have been playing again and can concur with your statements 100%.
Honestly, I think this spec was more balanced a few months ago as you would die a lot but could at least kill a lot as well. Now the only kills I get are mainly from me being super sneaky, which tbh it wouldn't make any difference to what weapon I had at that point as I would've achieved the same results.
The only promising thing I have noticed is the few times you get the one shot kill. This only happens if they have a weak enough suit and you are hugging them however, and even then you must apparently be an immaculate shot as somehow you will barely miss and feel like an idiot. Point to Nova's in those instances.
Give SG's a bit more range please. Also, the hipfire aiming reticle is off, you must actually aim for an imaginary smaller circle inside the aiming reticle circle. Can this be made smaller to reflect the actual spread of the shot? I literally have to imagine a smaller reticle inside the actual one, because it will very easily miss if I dont.

Maybe even increase spread, meaning less projectiles land, and increase dmg for each projectile.
This would reward a very accurate shot, (accurate and close that is), while at least doing SOME dmg for a less than accurate shot.
With an AR having such high capacity and fire rate, you don't have to be accurate to spray and pray, but you get the best results if you are, (head shot bonus and more dmg output per second). Why not do the same for a shotty? Shotty is limited in capacity and range, but should be made up for by the need to not be as accurate at these ranges so that some dmg is done with an inaccurate shot, but you can do MAX dmg output with a precise shot. Hence the "skill" factor.
Seems a fair assessment in mho. |
